  1. You can purchase a cake from royal gifts ( on the website). M Edit - Just saw it is for this weekend. It is likely too late to order. You'll have to check once on board. Sorry.
  2. For our district, it was Easter and the week that followed. M
  3. You get 50% off ONE glass of beer, wine or soda. You get 2 of these per cruise, regardless of cruise length. You get a 25% discount on ONE glass of wine beer or soda. You get one of these per cruise regardless of cruise length. You get the D+ daily drinks ( alcohol, soda, specialty coffee, bottled water, fresh juice) You get 30% off a beverage package purchased on board. M
  4. Friend proposed to his girlfriend on Oasis class ship mid day in Central Park (under the trellises ) on a port day. The ship was fairly empty so it was a private moment for them. m
  5. Luckily I haven't experienced that. I hope I don't. M
  6. It wasn't about how they wash linens but that one passenger's dirty towel is washed with another passenger's dirty towel. So, what is the difference with personal laundry. M
  7. I've heard that some don't like that but what about towels, sheets and cloth napkins? M
  8. Keep in mind that it is a "Wash and Fold" service, not proper laundry service with pressing. Everything is washed in HOT water and dried on HOT heat. Some like to write "cold water" on the bag, but that doesn't work. It is intended for select type of items listed on the wash and fold sheet. ( PJ.s socks. shorts, swim trunks, underwear - obviously not fine lingerie). Some play dumb and use the regular laundry form hanging in the closet and put other items in with success, some get charged ( and complain) and some have items ruined because of the washing method and also complain. Clothes come back in 24-48 hours so keep that in mind if you use the service at the end of the cruise. M
  9. Extra charges? Seems there is quite a bit included on Coco Cay, especially compared to a beach visit at any island port. Complimentary: Lounge chairs Umbrellas Hammocks Pool Kids water park Several buffets Several Snack Shacks Sports Area - games included Ice cream Non alcohol drinks ( tea/flavored water/water) Live entertainment at Captain Jacks Life Guards Music maybe more Have to pay for: Excursions Alcohol Private beach areas with upgraded food Cabanas and beach beds Maybe more I guess I look at the glass half full. M
  10. Never knew that drinks cost more. I always use C&A daily drink vouchers and have not been charged any extra. The $14 drink on the ship is $14 on Coco Cay and that is what I can get for the voucher. Perhaps for those who pay per drink it is more. Thanks for the heads up. M
  11. We find this as well. We always have ample seating at the beach as late as 10am. Can't tell you about the pool. We usually walk over mid morning for a drink but rarely pay attention to seating. M
  12. Yikes - I am sad but not surprised to read this as I wanted to give it at least one try. We sailed Allure a week or so after Hideaway beach was open and it took the crowd and loud DJ music away from lagoon pool. That was a plus for us! Bartenders were looking for customers so drinks came fast and strong. Hideway beach is currently priced at $47.99 per person for our upcoming cruise. I'll pass for now. M
  13. No. Lots of passengers eligible for the BOGO purchase the unlimited dining package. They don’t owe you anything. Besides, there are always some benefits that go unused, this is just another one. enjoy your cruise m
  14. Last TA had FOG! Lots of fog for days. I found the sound of the fog horn to be relaxing but others had a different experience and had sleepless nights. Guess it had to do with our cabin placement in relation to the actual horn. M
  15. Thanks so much for the detailed responses. I am enjoying learning about "ship life". I also enjoy hearing about the ports as well. We've been to a few more exotic ports (on land or other cruises) and enjoy reading about the excitement of the passengers as they see such interesting sights. Continue to enjoy your unique experience. M
  16. I believe the benefits sheet notes that it is for dinner only. m
  17. Yes, you both get a Bogo and yes you can use it on the same night to bring two other people. m
  18. These folks will be the first to go to the media with some sad story about expensive medical care. M
  19. Hooked is not eligible for the BOGO. I recall seeing that in recent benefits information. Hibachi is also not eligible. M
  20. We usually tell them when we make the reservation. That way, no mix up. Enjoy the dinner. M
  21. Check your medical coverage. Mine does not cover me outside of the country. I buy insurance for medical coverage, lost/delayed baggage (used it this year already), medical evacuation, trip interruption (cancelled flight home -delayed till the next day) etc. I use an annual plan that covers all my travel, not just cruises. Losing the cost of the cruise is often the least of my worries. Good luck M
  22. I recall seeing an offer the first day for pressing M
  23. piggybacking on the day-to-day questions.... Is MDR dinner open seating or assigned? Are folks sitting with the same passengers every evening for the entire cruise? Have people created small groups/cliques? (At one cruise a few years ago, came in for the 15-day leg of a 3 leg 45-day cruise. Many had made informal groups and did want outsiders or others that were not part of their clique. This group hated that group, that group hated some other group. It was like kindergarten.) Has RCCL created space for "home" schooled children? Has everyone stayed basically healthy? Sadly, I heard of one passing. Has anyone scheduled for the full cruise decided it wasn't for them and left early? What ever happened to the Tic Toc person who came on board to stir up drama. Luckily, never heard from him except to announce his intentions. I'm not on Tic Toc so maybe I missed it. The full cruise itinerary and the concept of being at sea for so long is fascinating to me. Those who can take the full cruise certainly have an experience they will likely never replicate. How fortunate! Any day-to-day info is so interesting to me. Thanks M
  24. I agree, that on some ships Royal needs to revamp the entertainment. In my opinion, when it comes smaller ships the entertainment is often old and tired. We have found sometimes an entertainer may be good, but the material is outdated. On a recent cruise, there was a singer/impersonator who was talented, but he did voices of folks that were so outdated that many of the audience were clueless. When it comes to production shows, again, the singers and dancers have talent, but the particular songs are often old and irrelevant. Jugglers are not my cup of tea, and when I see them on cruises (and they are booked on lots of cruises), I’m disappointed Some of the newer ships have terrific entertainment, but the older/smaller ships not so much. m
