  1. It really depends. We were at a wedding over Labor Day and about 10 percent of those who attended got covid. Some of my siblings that got it were really sick. Three ended up on Paxlovid, one ended up in the ER. Not sure about the others that got it. My adult son, who lives with us, now has covid and he isn't as sick as he was when he had it last year. We are back to wearing masks in my house right now, waiting to see if we get it. He is isolated from my DH and I, so time will tell. He only tested positive on Sunday, so we aren't out of the woods yet.
  2. just test yourself and then decide what you want to do. If you go to medical, you will be quarantined in your cabin. There is no more quarantine after you disembark. If they quarantine you, you will get a FCC for those days.
  3. It definitely should have been caught. There are very specific rules when it comes to the certificates and licenses needed. Joao was on Down Under sailing as a second officer because he needed more hours sailing at that level position and boat size, so he could sit for his captains license for that size vessel. Adam talked about who was on the bridge as they didn't have the certification to be officer of the watch. All those hours are very important for them as they move up through all the different licenses. If we ever sail on the same ship, I will explain why I am familiar with this process. 🙂
  4. It doesn't say it is only for kids, you were fine. I am on that ship in a few weeks, I will takes some pictures of the signage as a slide does exist.
  5. That is what is being talked about here. You said there has never been a slide on Serenade, that is not correct. There is a slide that I have seen adults on many times. It is easy to get stuck as it is designed for kids.
  6. That is not correct. Radiance class ships have a small slide for little kids.
  7. Reservations on Oasis and Quantum class ships are nothing new, they have always been needed. They currently are available around 30 days prior to sailing but used to be available closer to 90 days prior to sailing. There is no need to stay up and book at midnight. There are standby lines that can be used onboard and the cruise line also holds back a certain percentage of reservations for those that don't reserve in advance and reserve once they board.
  8. I am surprised they actually left the dock with the crew they had on the boat. Luka is good at what he knows but he admitted he only knows what he knows and is afraid that he doesn't know something he should be doing. Someone on that boat dropped the ball when it came to checking out the crew. Whether it was the first officer that is behind the scenes or Captain Sandy, it is someone's responsibility to make sure they don't get in the position they were in when they got boarded.
  9. Very surprised you haven’t. We have had doors slam because of seas more than once but it was during the day. I would never leave it open at night so it wouldn’t disturb others. I have seen the public restroom stall doors slam too. One even slammed on a woman’s thumb as she had grabbed hold of the doorway to steady herself. Poor lady had to go to medical for an X-ray. It wasn’t broken at least.
  10. He was prepared with a folder of all his documents.
  11. I wish the guy ahead of us at Cape Liberty understood that concept. We were in the suite holding area when they announced boarding was starting. We were in the front row and got up and headed towards the door, as everyone else was doing. This guy came flying by everyone, dragging a couple of kids and got to the door first. He then turned around and asked everyone to move aside so the rest of his group could catch up. Only about another 15 or so. He then started to pull out set sail passes from a folder. The second door then opened but the lady at the first door asked him to step aside to let those that were ready pass, he didn't move. The person at the second door motioned for us to go over to her and many followed. We showed our set sail passes on our iphones and off we went.
  12. Yes, I do think anyone can do it, if they try. You are concerned about problems and choose paper, that is your choice.
  13. You listed a whole bunch of issues you could have if you used your phone, I agreed with you that paper makes more sense for you. How is that insulting you if I am agreeing with you that paper is a good choice for you?
  14. Obviously, you didn't understand I was joking with Ellen. She has cruised enough to know she can show up with neither and still get on the ship.
  15. Some are going to have issues whether they are using paper or phone. We got stuck behind a couple who were clueless about how to go through the xray machine at the point. The guy was sent back four times until he finally emptied all pockets, took off his belt, took off his hat, stopped carrying his iphone, etc. Some are a lost cause. You can keep your paper, as long as you don't lose it. 😄
  16. The wallet is open to the set sail pass before you enter the terminal. Facial recognition unlocks the phone and you swipe up, set sail pass is there. Someone can show you how to do it if you don't understand. As far as never having to function without a phone, you are just grasping for a reason not to use your phone. If my 86 yr old mother can open her phone to her set sail pass, anyone can do it. If you have that many issues with your phone, then it makes sense to use paper.
  17. My iPhone works just fine as a bookmark in my passport.
  18. Apple Blossom has been available at lunch in the MDR. It has also been seen in CK on most nights when we sailed Oasis.
  19. Same here. Our set sail passes are in our wallet on our iPhone. We avoid getting in line behind someone with their big folder of everything cruising who then inevitably starts handing out paper set sail passes to everyone they are sailing with.
  20. Adding your travel information is the first step, next is the arrival time and last is the health questions but those questions aren't available to just before your cruise. The app has been funky the last couple of days and there is another thread that someone couldn't pick an arrival time. Maybe there is a glitch. I would try logging out of the app and back in again as that seems to fix problems. If you are using the website, I would clear cookies and/or try a different browser.
  21. Part of the check in 45 days prior to your sailing is picking your arrival time. You can print your set sail pass from the website.
