  1. Which is strange.... August is one of the most expensive months, ostensibly due to demand, and September-October things are usually a lot cheaper.
  2. Nope... not the CD and not even the Captain, as long as he or she does not wreck the ship I don't care who my Uber driver is.
  3. As long as it's not a metal trash can, from ebay
  4. I said I love it meaning the look of it... I haven't purchased it myself.
  5. Lol oh definitely, I was talking about getting worked up on CC 😉
  6. Must be the bigger ships are set up first.... on Brilliance we have no excursions, dining, entertainment or activities. Most make sense not to have yet, except dining. Presumably they know what restaurants are on the ship.
  7. I have found that usually happens when the category you are booked in is sold out.... they can't find the price until they call whatever department that is.
  8. Actually, it is best to do the opposite...if you book one child and one adult in each room, each adult can independently book the drink package without having to book anything else.
  9. The gulf coast leg of the Sunset Limited route on Amtrak has yet to be replaced since Katrina. Not sure if I will see it in my lifetime and I am only in my 50's.
  10. Most discounts listed in the cruise planner are smoke and mirrors. You just have to look at the current cost at any given time on the planner and decide if it is a good price, knowing you can cancel and rebook if the price drops. As for the two-day discount, the only way to know if that is a better deal is to find out the price on board and subtract two days worth. I suppose you can get an idea of what that price might be by looking for a "live from" thread on the same ship when you get closer to the day of your cruise, but even that is not a guarantee, especially with a different itinerary.
  11. I love the one with the helm pendant...very nautical
  12. Given the dramatically different experiences between the two of you, I am going to go out on a limb and guess that you each received a different batch, or maybe cruised at different enough times that there has been a change in the strength of the magnets. Definitely not something to get worked up about.
  13. My planner won't even show dining options for 10/23... what ship?
  14. Same here...I understand that the cold itself is caused by germs, but the cold weakens your body's defense against the germs and your immune system has a harder time fighting them off. It's why whenever I am sick, I sweat it out with warm clothes and blankets for a day. One day of sweat and the next day I am better.
  15. This is a very good summary of the differences between the two. As a retired couple, we have been sailing RC and Celebrity more than Princess lately in spite of better status on Princess, but that is only because Princess doesn't serve the northeast as well as the other two lines do.
  16. I'm trying to do the selective quarantine too.....after Regal disembarks in Athens we are spending a week on a Greek island then flying to UK to take a transatlantic home. I have insisted to hubby that we test on the island, either Emed or locally, rather than in the UK because I'd rather quarantine for a week on an island with a balcony and view of the ocean than the Holiday Inn Express in Southampton.
  17. Yup, already checked out Tripadvisor....what I read pretty much confirms weekday if you're driving, train and ferry don't matter as much since parking and traffic won't be an issue. We'll probably take the train or the ferry anyway.
  18. That is what happened to us on Oasis, 10/24 to 10/31 sailing. Sailaway was delayed for several hours and disembarking was a nightmare. We had the rare opportunity to be in a suite and had no idea that half the elevators don't make it to the 17th floor. People started riding them up to go down, so even if they made it to 17 they'd have more than six people....and they were just coming back from the WJ, not even disembarking with luggage. Finally we gave up and took the stairs with our carryons.
  19. I may be wrong because I haven't sailed Apex yet, but when I booked I noticed Aqua and Concierge class are all Infinite Verandahs. The only way to avoid them without booking a suite is Porthole Verandah or Sunset Verandah. Unless you're going for a suite or want Aqua benefits, I'd stick with the Sunset.
  20. Sometimes I swear there is a racket going on that forces every Aegean cruise to visit Santorini, Mykonos and Kusadasi. All great places to see once or twice, but not every year.
