  1. In an article by Stephen Payne in Ships Monthly, it says that in an evaluation after Covid it was found that 18 ships contributed only 3% of Carnival’s revenues, and they were culled. Isn’t it good none of them were Cunarders?
  2. Naturally, I’m checking on the pineapples. There’s one I’m not sure about.
  3. Swings, roundabouts…No, Cunard ships don’t have those either. I'm surprised the charging policy varies between ships, when the have only got three.
  4. Or, equally likely, they have now closed it off. You need to go on QM2, where you can get an untrammelled outdoor view from at least two decks. In fact, I think three decks, one of which is Deck 14.
  5. There is usually a luggage drop off point.
  6. On one of those decks, it used to be that the corridor was not sealed off, though it looked as if it was, and one could go though a very heavy metal door and stand out the front, which, it must be said, wasn’t at all pleasant, even if the ship was going very slowly, but nice to see an arrival from there.
  7. Could be. Given their alleged problems with recruiting customer-facing (sorry, hideous word) staff, it is hard to imagine it is any of them.
  8. The other mysterious thing is the numbers. 900 looks a lot, but spread over ten ships, it is less than a hundred per ship. How would that work?
  9. What can be achieved by talking to the officers on board? I can’t imagine it is in their remit.
  10. There is if there is no alternative, which is the case according to the OP.
  11. Well, I suppose it provides employment for people. Hard to think of any other benefits.
  12. Well, it probably came by Pony Express. 😀
  13. As I have recently demonstrated, my memory is not as good as I thought. But, several times over the years, the Voyage Personaliser has shown our dining room booking for QG, as ‘Table for 2, requested not confirmed’. I’ve never given this a thought, and, of course, we have always had a table for two. But I wonder if what the VP says means anything much at all.
  14. Oh dear. Just oh dear. I think they would probably fit out the employees properly. They certainly would over here. White asbestos is deemed safe over here, indeed, I have some in my house, PROVIDING you don’t mess with it. Oh dear again.
  15. And there should be another one in the cabin to help with unpacking.
  16. Good gracious. Does it have to be that complicated? Just pick up a few things and bung them in. That is my approach, as a woman. Incidentally, I do make a list, but only of things we absolutely must not forget, like my husband’s medication, or things that are quite obscure, like Elastoplast.
  17. Unless of course it is first thing in the morning before one is dressed. Sorry.
  18. Yes, this is made clear in the brochure.
  19. I’ve never tried to touch the machines, but have read others hearing claiming they were far too difficult anyway. Much less trouble to go up to the Grills Lounge and get them to give you some coffee.
  20. I don’t think I have ever owned eight pairs of shoes. Being able to drive to Soton does make things so much easier. It was even easier when the porters unloaded the car.
  21. That’s why on a Med. cruise it’s walking sandals, intermediate sandals, and smart shoes. The intermediate sandals could and do substitute for either of the others. And just the one black hand bag. Why clutter up life with more?
  22. And on the most exotic of British trains. 🙂
