  1. I doubt it. It was closed when we embarked on May10.
  2. I’m sure you are right, providing the time itself isn’t irksome.
  3. How fortunate you are to live somewhere where the water is OK for you. Presumably bottled water is a problem too, as bottled waters also vary so much.
  4. This might not help with $45, but throughout the cruise they offer a rate for buying for the rest of the cruise, which eventually gave us far more days for one of our $135s than buying by the day did. We bought by the day with the other person’s $135 up to that point. I’m sorry this doesn’t sound terribly comprehensible but I hope it just about makes sense, and might enable you to get another free day.
  5. Use a competent travel agent who knows about Cunard, if you can.
  6. As someone who hates flying, Southampton is one of the very few airports I might use. It is small, very close to the station, which you can reach under cover except for crossing the road, has (they claim) rapid security, is not a shopping mall, and has an agreeable bar/café from which you can watch the planes. And who wouldn’t want to take off from the runway where the Spitfire made its first flight?
  7. When there is a bookshop, I nearly always buy a book. Hint, hint, Cunard.
  8. Not usually, no. 😀
  9. I am a disaster for Cunard. I don’t gamble, have never used the spa (and never would), only use alternative dining when it is a freebie, and rarely use the bars, though we do have wine with meals. I’m surprised they still allow me on board. 😀
  10. Best not to hold your breath and eat popcorn simultaneously, I suspect. I wouldn’t want you to choke. 😀
  11. Whatever they do will spark an outcry and claims of unfairness, stupidity, lack of commercial nous, etc, etc. I’m looking forward to it already.
  12. It is something I’m always happy for others to do. In fact, however, it is mainly my husband’s shirts that go to the laundry. It is the only time they get ironed!
  13. Cheaper laundry service is always nice. 15 items for $41 on our last cruise.
  14. I’ve seen people wearing pins pretty frequently. Not at all unusual.
  15. Do they really expect you to work on Sunday?
  16. The post I was responding to specifically said 11% service charge as well as Spanish tax. I think it is worse than that.
  17. It is really only in the last few years, I have stopped hearing people begin sentences with, ‘On QE2 they used to…’ always said regretfully, sometimes reproachfully.
  18. This evening should be OK for drinks. I thought service charge was 15%.
  19. Make sure you don’t exhaust yourself. 🙂
  20. 1 a) 15% is added b) There is a space. I have never ever given anything. 2 a) Service is included. b) Don’t know 3 Don’t know 4 a) Never give anything specifically for this, but give something to steward and butler at end sometimes.
  21. Whatever else, don’t feel terrible. The escalator at Southampton has been known to stop. If it had to happen, I’m glad it happened when they were back home rather than half way through their cruise. An extra form of stress removed from their relatives.
  22. I have no way of knowing this, but wouldn’t you surmise the escalators were not available because they were adjacent to where the unfortunate person collapsed, not because they weren’t actually working?
  23. Glad they’ve got this sorted out.
  24. https://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=716025 I hope this works.
