  1. Good morning. Thanks for the Daily and to all contributors. Good days. I'm always trying to clean up some room or other around here to decrease clutter. We should be trying to support small businesses. I try to trust my intuition. Interesting Hemingway quote. I'll pass on the meal (all carbs, no protein much) and drink. I'd like the wine. I haven't been to Dubai. Thanks for the photos. Another sunny and warm day here today. I might try to do some yard work, although my hand's been hurting. @kazu Thank you for sharing the photo of Jose and you. Be gentle with yourself during this time. @cat shepard Thinking of you during this difficult time. @grapau27 I hope your x-rays can help your doctor decide on a course of action. @Crazy For Cats Wow, quite the cruising souvenir display! @GTVCRUISER Love the tiles. @StLouisCruisers Wonderful pictures as usual. @smitty34877 Best wishes for a successful knee surgery for DD. And continued prayers for Tana. @ger_77 Yay on finding a nice cafe set. Yikes on gas prices; we're paying around $4.49/gallon here. I try to group errands together. @durangoscots Hoping that dog gets proper training and a good home eventually. At least he's away from that awful former owner. @kochleffel Ew, ouzo. I had the flu many years ago when in Greece. My "tonic" to get better was ouzo and orange juice! I'm not a fan of the anise flavor. Prayers for the Care List, and Ukraine. Cheers for the Celebration List. Stay safe everyone, during the increasing incidence of Covid everywhere.
  2. In the last picture I posted, Eurodam is docked and Koningsdam is coming in (facing the camera).
  3. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily. Funny and serious days. I've not had that issue with socks that I hear about. My current mattress has a sewn on tag. Women tend to think of others first, but should think of themselves and get check-ups. A sweet quote. The meal sounds good. I'll pass on the drink, but take the wine. I haven't been to Abu Dhabi. It's sunny and warming up here. I decided yesterday afternoon to mow the lawn, since it wasn't too hot. My was the grass tall! It was a tough job. I guess all the rain and the fertilization was the culprit. @kazu Good to "see" you back. Thank you for sharing with us; and for translating your comments at Jose's service as well as sharing the notes with the flowers. Prayers for comfort in the time to come. @cat shepard Welcome home. I'm glad you had some help with all you had to do. @ottahand7 Nice photo! @kochleffel Quite the busy weekend. I'm glad the concert went well. Thanks for the recipe. @ger_77 How frustrating with the patio set. I don't mind assembling things, but hate when holes and screws don't match up! I have a teak bench I'm eyeing for my porch and hope that doesn't happen. @grapau27 Thanks for the videos. Prayers for the Care List and Ukraine. Cheers for the Celebration List. Stay safe everyone.
  4. @rafinmd I agree, you do look like your Mother. @Quartzsite Cruiser Thanks for the photos of your Mother and grandparents. I had to laugh at the state of your maternal GM's office! I agree with you about the length of time between boosters; it was 7 months for me and I had a day of chills and headache. Thanks for all the Lisbon pictures; you've been there a lot I see. @Cruise Suzy Awww, what a nice picture. @cruzn single Thanks for sharing the picture of your Mom and sisters. @dfish Nice to see so many generations. I never knew any grandparents; my Mother's Mother lived with her, but died when I was about 18 months old.
  5. Here are a few photos from Lisbon I posted when it was last the destination of the day. Tile work Monastery of St. Mary Monument to the Discoveries Belem Tower
  6. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! I had to laugh at Iris day, as when I saw it I thought of my eye condition (inflammation of the iris), rather than the flower. A salute to the Red Cross, Red Crescent and Victory in Europe. Interesting quote. I like the meal if someone makes if for me. Pass on the drink and wine. I have been to Lisbon on a land trip. Thanks for the photos. Finally, no rain! Our weather forecast is for a sunny week, something we don't get often. I've no plans for today. @grapau27 Thank you for today's sermon from Father David. Lovely picture of Pauline's Mam. @dfish Lovely picture of you and your Mom. @Rowsby Love the fashions in your picture with your Mom. Great family pictures too. @ottahand7 Beautiful irises. @GTVCRUISER Thanks for sharing the photo. @Cruzin Terri You'll get to Lisbon again hopefully. Great picture of you and your Mom. @kplady Great photo. @StLouisCruisers Aww, love the picture. I spent time scanning in a lot of photos to my computer, as I was afraid they'd disintegrate. I was the picture taker when I was growing up, so not a lot of me or ones of my Mother and I together. @Horizon chaser 1957 I'm glad you're not feeling too unwell. @smitty34877 What a lovely smile your Mother has. Sorry the night was rough, but good that Tana is finally getting some sleep. @4966and556 Sorry to hear your DD has Covid, and I hope it's a mild case. @JAM37 Sweet picture. @Cruising-along Love that early photo of your Mom. @kazu @cat shepard Continued prayers for you both during this sad time. Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List. Extra prayers for the suffering of Ukraine. Here is a picture of my mother from her teaching days (not sure what year); she got a yearly photo along with the students. I still have the pin she's wearing in the photo.
  7. @Cruising-along @Quartzsite Cruiser Very nice pictures of Tallinn. @Horizon chaser 1957 So sorry to hear about the Covid diagnosis. I'm glad you're both feeling better. I've been reading about a lot of people testing positive after cruising, and I too think protocols have dropped too soon. It makes me reconsider cruising in November, especially with my medical issues.
  8. Good morning. Thanks for the Daily @richwmn and all contributors. Interesting days. I will salute to birth mothers, including mine who gave me up for adoption. I found out who she is a few years ago, by getting my original birth certificate, but have not met her. I keep thinking I should grow some herbs. Cynical Marilyn quote. The "meal" looks interesting. I'll pass on the drink and wine. I haven't been to Tallinn, Estonia. Thanks for the pictures. It's still raining here, although supposed to stop soon. There have been landslides and trees down due to the ground being so saturated. In addition to birth mother day, I'll salute my adoptive mother today. It would be her 118th birthday today. She passed in 1993 at age 89, so happy heavenly birthday. She was a school teacher. As a single woman she adopted me when I was a week old. @dfish You'll probably be glad to get home. @grapau27 Hopefully the knee x-rays help the doctor figure out how to help you. Nice day at the beach. @StLouisCruisers It sounds like a tough trip for your niece, but thankfully she's coming home. Great pictures. @ger_77 It's good to hear that DH is feeling better, and you as well. @kazu Continued prayers for you in this journey. Prayers for the Care List and Ukraine and its people and helpers. Cheers for the Celebration List. Stay safe everyone.
  9. I had to make a mad dash to the car place, as they called at 5 and they close at 6. BFF made the 20 minute drive here, then off we went. The car drives really well now, and no more of that noise. Yay! After consulting with the Rheumatology pharmacist, I narrowed it down to 2 drugs. Unfortunately for my first choice the self-injectable form isn't available, as it's being used in hospitalized Covid patients who have respiratory issues or are on ventilators. The IV form is available, but my veins aren't great. So I'll try for my 2nd choice, which is also an injection. They'll do the assistance forms for me. So I'll see. @ottahand7 Love the picture of the swans. Thanks for sharing. @bennybear Awww on the singing meadowlark. @HELENPSL Welcome to the Daily! I hope to hear from you again in the future.
  10. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily. A salute to Beverage Day (especially coffee and cabernet!), Child Care Workers are essential, and Nurses are so very essential! Fun quote. I'll pass on the meal (fish) and drink, but take the wine. I've been to China, but not Qingdao. It's very rainy here today. Flood warnings are out. Several trees have fallen around town, another on an occupied car, but I hope with not the dire results of last time. I'm waiting for my phone meeting with the Rheumatology pharmacist, to discuss the meds and possible help in affording them. I haven't heard back about my car, so I'll call after my meeting. What if they can't get the part needed in a timely fashion? @kazu Continued prayers for comfort and peace for you. @cat shepard Thinking of you and prayers for comfort. @dfish Sorry to hear your sewing machine is acting up. Maybe step away and the triangle points will cooperate when you go back to it. @StLouisCruisers Thanks for the pictures of today's port. @Heartgrove Sorry to hear that was the message to your sister. @Cruzin Terri Thanks for the picture. I hope the weather improves. Enjoy your tour of the Vatican and Sistine Chapel. @luvteaching Good news on DH's progress! @rafinmd Prayers for the fallen heroes and their families. Prayers for the Care List and a salute to the Celebration List. Stay safe everyone.
  11. I'm back home, with no car. After my outlining the issue, and a check of the car, it was determined that the CV boot was damaged and was the problem. Tires were ok, not needing replacement now. BFF came by as he lives nearby, and we went out for Mexican while the car was being worked on. I skipped the margarita thinking I'd be driving home. When we got back to the shop, a part was being delivered for my car. Turns out it was the wrong part! So BFF drove me all the way home, and will take me back tomorrow afternoon or Saturday, depending on when they get the part and our schedules. Luckily I have no where to go!
  12. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily. Happy Cinco de Mayo! A salute to cartoonists. I do like museums. Midwives perform a vital function. Interesting quote. The meal is interesting. Pass on the drink and wine. I have been to Mexico, but haven't been to Topolobampo. It's partly sunny hear and best of all no rain today! I will be heading for the auto place in about an hour, maybe not taking the highway. So far the new crown is staying put, knock wood. @kazu Prayers for you on this difficult day. The service was lovely and moving; thank you for sharing it with us. @dfish Sorry the US wasn't helpful. That's so wrong on the quilt retreat assigning you a roommate who you know nothing about, in these Covid times. And sewing until midgnight? Oy! @irishjim Good news on your ear surgery follow-up appointment. @Cruzin Terri Enjoy Rome! @ger_77 I hope you and DH feel a bit better every day. @rafinmd Thanks for the photos. @cat shepard Thinking of you during this difficult time. Prayers for the Care List and a toast to the Celebration List. Stay safe everyone.
  13. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily. May the 4th Be With You! I walked but never biked to school. A salute to birds. Only homemade candied orange peel goes into my German fruit bread made for Christmas. I don't understand the quote. The meal is interesting. Pass on the drink, but I'll take the wine. I have been to Lahaina on a 2012 Princess cruise from LA to Hawaii, and way back in 1992 on a land trip. Both times I spent most of the time in Haleakala National Park. The rain has finally stopped for now. I'm fine, but some places saw lots of trees down and power out. Sadly, a tree fell on a car that was at a stop light. It looked awful. The driver died at the hospital, and his wife was fine, as were the 6 people in a car behind that one. Sad. I'm back from the dentist appointment this morning, with the newly made crown in. He thinks there was some defect with the making of the prior crown, such that adhesive wouldn't stick to it. We'll see. @kazu Prayers for you as you prepare for Jose's service tomorrow. I'm with you in spirit. @smitty34877 I'm sure the trip to the doctor was tiring for Tana; at least nothing new going on. Prayers for her and the family. @mamaofami Wonderful news from the Oncologist! Lots to be grateful for. @dfish I hope the US is helpful to the surgeon. Enjoy the quilting retreat. Thanks for the recipes! @Seasick Sailor Joy, nice to see you here, and thanks for the photos. @ger_77 I hope you and DH feel better soon. @luvteaching Sorry to hear that DH is hospitalized, but it seems the daily OT and PT is helping a lot. @rafinmd I wouldn't contact Jacqui tomorrow, as she needn't think about CC on the day of Jose's funeral. Maybe Saturday or just let her contact you? @aliaschief Enjoy the new villa and your friends visiting. Prayers for the Care List and Ukraine. Cheers for the Celebration List. Stay safe everyone. A few pictures from Lahaina. Sunrise as we approach Lahaina Haleakala Summit Banyon Tree Paddle surfer and Golden Princess anchored off Lahaina
  14. We went from a tornado watch to a warning! I was ready to head to the basement if need be, but they just let the warning expire, but still a watch. And severe storm warnings, and it just started to pour rain here. Hopefully the power stays on. Thanks for the car advice. No clicking, popping or clunking sounds. No vibration of the car. I do think it's the tires.
  15. @Vict0riann Oh my, what lovely gardens you had. A lot of work! So, we're under a tornado watch. Hopefully it's nothing more than strong winds and rain. I made an appointment with NTB (National Tire & Battery) for Thursday. From some reading I think it's the tires that need to be replaced. They will also do a brake check, as I'd read it could be a brake pad stuck to a rotor. Or the CV joints, whatever that is. Anyway, I'm due for tires per my last inspection. The ones on there were pricey performance ones; now that I'm retired and don't drive that much, I don't think I need ones that fancy.
  16. Good morning. Thanks for the Daily. If I had a garden I could meditate in it. No to lumpy rugs. A big salute to teachers; my mother was one. Good quote. The meal looks interesting. I'll pass on the drink, but take the wine. I stopped at Tasmania on my first HAL cruise Auckland to Sydney in 2006. But we were at the Port of Burnie. It's cloudy here, with rain due this afternoon and possibly bad storms/wind/tornado warnings this evening. I did a quick run to pick up a few groceries. My car is making a funny noise, sigh. Tire pressure is ok. It's like I'm driving over a road with ridges; thump, thump, thump. The noise stops when the car stops. My dealer is a ways away (about 32 miles), and I don't want to drive it there. They used to do pickups, but I'm not sure they still do, since the pandemic. I may have to find some place local. @kazu @cat shepard Continued prayers for peace for you both. @dfish Enjoy the quilting retreat. Our voting here isn't until May 17th; and the TV commercials are awful - so much nastiness! @smitty34877 Continued prayers for Tana and I hope the pulmonologist has something helpful to say. @StLouisCruisers Haha, being a mystery fan I first thought of a body under the rug! Thanks for the pictures. @baltic17 Have a great cruise! @ger_77 I hope you and DH feel better soon. Just take it easy for now. Prayers for the Care List and Ukraine and its people and helpers. A toast to the Celebration List. Stay safe everyone.
  17. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily. Awareness of Melanoma is important as are skin checks. My BFF had it, but fortunately it was found early as he's had other skin cancers and gets checked a lot. I'm an only, so no siblings. Tuna is ok. I'll pass on the meal and drink, but take the wine. I haven't been to Malaysia. I look forward to any pictures. A nice day here, in between rainy ones. @kazu I know you won't be online, but know you are in my prayers. @rafinmd Very kind of you to do the Bon Voyage threads for Jacqui. @dfish Sorry to hear of the continued pain, and I hope you get resolution of it soon. @cat shepard Prayers of comfort for you and the family on the loss of your cousin. @JAM37 It sounds like you're starting to settle in a bit to the new environment, plus working hard. @Lady Hudson Sorry to hear that DSIL is back in the hospital; it's hard when loved ones are not nearby during these trials. @Cruzin Terri Bummer about how your day in Marseilles turned out. You'll just have to go back! Can the medical team give you something for the cough? @Overhead Fred Wow, nice Christmas cacti. Mine isn't doing well, although the one piece I started from the original one seems healthier. Prayers for the Care List and Ukraine. Cheers for the Celebration List. Stay safe everyone.
