Cruising vs All Inclusive Resort
gerif replied to LivLove2Cruise's topic in Royal Caribbean International
My biggest issue with the AI was being really bored at night. Definitely lacking in entertainment. Maybe if I drank more.- 75 replies

If you pack inside dry cleaner bags you should have no problem with wrinkles at all. When my husband was alive I packed a suit and a sports jacket for every cruise. Never had a wrinkle. As others have mentioned, no laundry room and no access to irons.

Since I’m philosophically opposed to ironing, I’ve learned that there are many fabrics that absolutely will not wrinkle. I just returned from a conference that required business attire, resort wear and a formal. With careful packaging (I’m a roller), nothing wrinkled. I was staying in a hotel that provided an iron and ironing board but never would have thought about using them. One new cotton shirt had creases but I just dampened it and hit it with the hairdryer. Creases gone.

Explorer of the Seas Suite Dining Room?
gerif replied to Carol28's topic in Royal Caribbean International
No. None except you can order room service from the dining room menu during the hours it is open. -
You need to make sure that your cabin has the bed by the balcony. If it is near the door you might not be able to get the scooter past it.

Letter of consent for travel with minor
gerif replied to drakes2's topic in Royal Caribbean International
It’s one of those things that you probably don’t need - until you do. I would never take the chance of being turned away at the port. I’ve been flying with my show cats for some 36 years. The airline requires them to have a recent health certificate and a rabies certificate. I’ve been asked for them maybe a half dozen times in all these years. Do I always have them? You bet. -
Maybe I spend too much time in hotels and motels but I’ve never bothered bringing my own dryer (I like to pack light). Therefore, I have no problem with the dryers provided.

Can I move to a higher C&A status during a cruise?
gerif replied to DT1304's topic in Royal Caribbean International
There have also been reports of people being angry because they were summarily dismissed by the LA when they tried to get their status changed during the cruise. Never mind that they were being rude in even asking that rules be overlooked for them. -
Anxiety over Traveling with kids Birth Certificates
gerif replied to Eddie Wilson's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Just wanted to confirm - since they are not your children Will their parents be traveling as well? If not you would also need a notarized letter from the parent(s) not traveling granting permission to take the children out of the country. -
Tracking Device for Child on Vision of the Seas?
gerif replied to LeslieMusician's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I totally agree. I was a wanderer as a small child and actually had a leather harness and leash (don’t have any actual memories but I’ve seen photos). I’m 76 now and don’t believe it left any psychological damage. Now there are cute backpacks that kids actually like. -
Tracking Device for Child on Vision of the Seas?

I’ve never heard of such a thing. I do remember on one cruise there was a little boy who was about 3. Every time the cabin door opened he was off and running. As soon as he was caught the little stuffed animal backpack and leash came out. It was the only way they could keep him in check. -

Then there’s no problem.

While you may use your free drinks for your cabin mates (or anyone else), you may not bring them into the Diamond Lounge.
-
How close is their cabin? If next to yours or directly across the hall there should be no problem.

With a party that large I’d switch to fixed dining. Not that many large tables and if the group occupying your intended table is slow you could have a long wait even with reservations.
-
Besides being able to use the pool, they must be fully potty trained in order to use the kid’s club.

Always bring protein bars for excursions. Never had a problem.

I understand inflation but come on!!!
gerif replied to penutbutterjelly's topic in Royal Caribbean International
In economics it’s called what the market will bear. In other words, if people are willing to pay for it there is no reason not to keep charging more. Personally, I’ve been happily drinking the ship’s water since 1990 and have had no problems with it. Oh - and you can no longer carry on a whole case. Only 12 bottles/cans per cabin -
I will bring a bottle of wine but am perfectly fine with the ship’s water and don’t drink soda so that’s all I’ll bring.

Best check in time and mytime dining
gerif replied to latebuyer's topic in Royal Caribbean International
If you have traditional dining, you cannot go to MTD on occasion. If you are late in port either do the WJ or specialty. -
It has always been my understanding that the Diamond member must be in the free photo (although one could use the drink vouchers for anyone). I wouldn’t embarrass myself by demanding that the rules don’t apply to me but that’s up to you. In any event, no one cares who paid for anything. That reasoning will get you nowhere.

If you are purchasing individually you get cans. With the package it’s pretty much from a gun.
