  1. We were on the Enchanted for a Sept 2 cruise. Alfredo's/gigi's was not crowded at all. A few tables being used. Looks like the new charges has stopped people from eating there.
  2. Yes, it was the free tour. We read on Rick Steves to tip 10-20 Euros /person for free tours so that is what we did although definitely did more than the 10! It was 2.5 hours long of the Gothic Quarter.
  3. Enjoy your cruise! Maybe Guest Services will give you a little OBC to make up for it as I doubt they know anything about the billing.
  4. Sorry to hear that food on the ship and sometimes on land is not up to snuff. It happens everywhere. However, if things are as bad as you say, I would have sent it back. That is how they know there is a problem.
  5. If you look at the post just before yours the OP shows a copy of what they received. It says $40/person so total is $80.
  6. Yes. We do all our planning at home too but that poster said they didn't want to purchase non refundable tickets in advance so they do it while on the ship. We were very recently on a Med cruise. Our stop in Kotor was cancelled early on the same day as the port day. I guess his/her plan to book tickets, etc while onboard would only work if the ship was already docked or in my case already at anchor. Maybe though that is what they meant.
  7. We got home less than two weeks ago. We stayed at the Athens Gate. Great hotel and great location. You will be about 2 blocks from Hadrian's Arch and the Temple of Zeus (currently it has scaffolding around it). The New Acropolis Museum is very close too. Cruisemom42's suggestions are spot on! BTW - the restaurant at The Athen's Gate is on the 7th floor and overlooks the Acropolis. Breakfast is served here every morning. If you want dinner there one night, we did, you have to make a reservation. We stayed three nights and on the first night we made our reservation for the next day.
  8. Just call the 800 Princess phone number and ask for a refare if you are before final payment. Sounds like you may have booked online.
  9. Always a bummer when you miss a port, especially if you were looking forward to it. Luckily for us we had been to Kotor before although I was looking forward to just wandering around the ancient city and also admiring the views as we sailed out.
  10. Oops! I think we had Static on another cruise. We never went to the piazza specifically to hear Xcite but heard them while we were in Crooners waiting or after AJ Clarke finished.
  11. @cruisinqt This was our third trip to Europe. We are careful. I never saw pickpockets although I am sure they are there. We had one excursion in Naples to Herculaneum. Not as crowded and smaller than Pompeii. Another woman and myself had similar Travelon bags with locking zippers. The guide: she had a big bag with the top all open. We commented to each other how careful we are and were surprised about her bag. Maybe she knew the area was pretty safe from them. I know I read on here and elsewhere that people have been pickpocketed so just be careful. I too never heard about the flowers or the stain. That was from our hotel. No matter where you go, anything you charge, make sure you pay in euros. I was just totally surprised that the taxi quoted the fare in euros, I used my Apple Pay, and then asked for a receipt. I would never have known he charged it in US $ if I hadn't had the receipt.
  12. As the title says we just got back from our cruise ending in Barcelona. Just wanted to mention a few things. We stayed overnight at the Hotel Colon. Perfect location and a nice hotel. We used a taxi when getting off the ship to get to hotel. At the end of the trip the driver told us how many euros. I used my credit card on Apple Pay and asked for a receipt. I noticed it listed both euros and also US $. Sure enough, he charged it in US $. I was mad but didn't have time to say anything. Not too much extra money though. On our taxi from hotel to airport we made sure to tell driver to charge in euros. We did a walking tour with Runnerbean tours of the Gothic Quarter. It was a good tour and I would recommend them. I was very unsure of how much time to allow at the airport for a 6:05 am flight. Wanted to sleep as long as possible!. Our first flight was to Rome so inside Schengen area. Not sure if that made a difference. We ended up getting a taxi at 3:30 am. He drove fast and there was no traffic on a Sunday at that hour. We were at the airport in under 20 minutes! We saw some people sleeping on the floor inside the airport. Our airline didn't open their ticket counter (we had to get boarding passes there because our second flight was another airline.) til 4 am so there was a a bit of a line. Having business class seats though let us get through another line where we were the 2nd people. We actually saw at least one restaurant open at that hour if anyone is looking for a bite to eat. The hotel had a list of things to watch out for because it means pickpockets. Some I have not seen mentioned is to not participate in card and dice games you see on the streets. I didn't see anything in our short time. They also said if you are offered flowers in the street and the sellers are standing very close to you, they are trying to pickpocket you. If someone says you have a stain on your clothing and points to your clothing, they are trying to pickpocket. If driving a car and you stop at a traffic light if someone says you have a flat tire or car is on fire... don't get out but drive a short distance and lock the doors before making sure it is not true because they are trying to rob you. One last thing. There are tons of people in Barcelona!!!! Hope this info helps someone!
  13. Yes they had the parade. Because we were at a table for two and had great service our waiter mentioned the parade was at 7. We ordered our dessert about 10 minutes or so before so we were eating during the parade.
  14. I just want to say that the crew on the Enchanted Princess were all wonderful. We interacted with several crew members who didn't hesitate to do what it took to help us. The food was delicious overall and we had PLENTY to eat. I did notice that the Baked Alaska has changed. It was domed shaped and the ice cream of vanilla and strawberry (no chocolate) was very tiny. Mostly it was marshmallow. I wouldn't get it again. I know at one point I got the new Love Boat dream that many people on here don't like. I beg to differ as I really enjoyed it. Overall a wonderful cruise and I can't wait til next year when we cruise Norway.
  15. We had a lovely last breakfast with Alexa on disembarkation. We took a taxi to our hotel. When arriving he quoted the fair in Euros. I asked for a receipt and noticed both Euros an US $. That is not a good exchange rate and he never asked us. We will have to wait till we are home to see what we were really charged. we had a nice walking tour of th Gothic quarter with Runnerbean tours. We then found lunch and walked around. We couldn’t believe the amount of people in Barcelona!! With a 6:05 am flight we were picked up by taxi at 3:30 am. No problem with flight but we have been sitting in Rome airport now for over 3 hours. Our flight to Us is over 3 hours late so another 2.5 hours to go!!!
  16. All good advice. On our first day we had lunch in the MDR. We knew there was a two top against a wall all by itself. We asked for it and got it. Not only that they let us have it for all 7 nights of the cruise. For some reason they made us change our dining reservation from 6:20 pm to 6:00 pm. No problem. We also discovered about half way through the cruise that for breakfast they put us in a specific area. We loved the server, Alexa, so much that we asked for her whenever we went for breakfast.
  17. @snoozecrooze I got off today so can't corroborate anybody except the cruise director as already mentioned and Nick Nash, the Commodore.
  18. I understand. Me too. I’m on my phone right now so short and sweet answer. We do bring laptop though but it’s now packed.
  19. I’m getting off the Enchanted in Barcelona. Many dress up but many dress down ( nice shirt and tie or polo shirt). Some even wear shorts although they are a small minority. Dh wore shorts one night when not formal because we just got back from a tour.
  20. This is why they have all kinds of music! The party band, Static, gets a huge following. We have heard a little bit and they sound quite good and play songs we would like to hear. It is just when AJ Clarke is finished the Piazza is so jammed packed there would be no place for us so we listen standing somewhere for a few minutes and then go on to other places. You will be on a long cruise so hopefully you will find music you like. FYI- I don't think anyone requested John Denver. Most of what he plays are requests with some music his choice. I'm jeoulous of your upcoming long cruise. Wish I could go too! Maybe do a Live from?
  21. The first time we were in Naples we were part of a private tour from our roll call and did Pompeii, the Amalphi coast, saw Positano from a distance, and then stopped at Sorrento. Also went to a Limoncello factory. This time did a half day tour to Herculaneum (through the cruise line). It is a smaller town buried by Mt Vesuvius but a little more intact. If you have never been before I suggest what we did the first time we went. Go with a small tour if possible. Having a guide is invaluable!!
