  1. Not to belabor the point about Yacht Club advantages (but I will 😀). Yacht Club has its own kiosk, plus the Concierge Desk will gladly register your card.
  2. Fortunately, we are not penniless along with our being classless.
  3. I can't speak for "kelleherdl" but I read the response as taking a "...who cares...?" approach was the "...wrong answer..." to the problem of interlopers. It seemed that the suggestion was that Yacht Club guests shouldn't care if there are interlopers as long as the interlopers don't blatantly cause problems. I am back from the gym and dinner. I missed a lot. 😀 Your supposition on my intent is correct. The immediate antecedent post was the now infamous “who cares”. Using the quote function can be helpful, but when the post immediately followed I considered it unnecessary. Just so we are all clear, I care. 😀
  4. To use the Yacht Club you must book a Yacht Club category cabin. It’s a choice when you select your cabin type during booking. Within the Yacht Club category there are Insides, Balconies, Duplex Suites, Grand Balcony Suites, and Royal Suites depending on the ship, but they all start with ‘Yacht Club’ in the cabin type. In MSC parlance Yacht Club is the experience type.
  5. The Yacht Club Director is budgeted to serve approximately 200 to 250 guests (service staff, food, liquor, etc). He now finds himself serving 250 to 300 guests or whatever, it doesn’t make any difference. Only two things can happen, both bad. The service will be diminished for those that paid the fare, or the provided food/liquor whatever cost goes up. Guess what, both of those happenings will lead to pressure to increase prices. Sorry, I don’t want freeloaders to cost me more when I sail again.
  6. Gold! Mine has always been dark blue with a white logo. I haven’t seen any gold ones yet. I’ll have to ask my butler.
  7. At Port Canaveral Aurea guests will have a separate checkin line along with Diamond Voyagers. You will also be invited to board right after Yacht Club and special assistance guests when boarding does begin. You can show up as early as you like. The terminal doors have been opening about 10 AM. If you arrive after general boarding has begun you can board as soon as you are checked in. Once open boarding begins it won’t make any difference when you arrive.
  8. If HAMRAG is online, he’s done this itinerary a couple of times from the UK. I’m assuming you are doing the Bridgetown Barbados embarkation. He’s got some tips on disembarkation day.
  9. Thanks for including the SpaceX launch. When we check in folks we try to remind guests that MSC has arranged a special fireworks display for their sail away that day. 😀. Yesterday’s launch was special Father’s Day display. 😀
  10. Sorry, I haven’t been a Professor since I was an Assistant Professor of Military Applied Physiology at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences back in the mid 80’s. 😀
  11. Having any kind of ‘private’ gathering in YC spaces that infringes on their use by any YC guest, even if all the folks are in YC cabins, is supposed to be against MSC corporate-wide guidelines for the Yacht Club. I myself have sponsored a group sailing, with all sailing in Yacht Club. We were offered private reception space outside the Yacht Club, but specifically restricted from using YC spaces, Topsail lounge or Pool One.
  12. The Grand YC Deluxe Suites are significantly larger than the regular YC Balcony. Deck 19 on Seascape has many YCP’s, some rated up to 5 guests.
  13. Well that stinks. Fingers crossed they miss my birthday cruise in 2024. We’re they all in YC, or was this a flash mob of interlopers?
  14. MLB undertook a large expansion of the airport. TUI occupies the gates in the new ‘international’ boarding area. MLB also remodeled the old restaurant area into a VIP lounge for TUI. The Customs and Border Protection areas were at least doubled.
  15. We love the fact that MSC has instituted promotion to LoungeButler/JuniorButler/ Butler from within concept for Yacht Club, in addition to their aggressive recruitment from outside. It was not always that way. I think the ‘new’ Butlers/Junior Butlers are still required to eventually go through Butler training ashore. We’ve also known a couple of a YC pool attendants who have been selected for advancement to higher roles.
  16. Your dining assignment is on your cruise card which you receive at checkin. So yes, technically, you will know your dining assignment before boarding. If you want to change it that must be done at the assigned restaurant podium after boarding.
  17. I honestly believe the Butlers and Junior Butlers who routinely contract on US sailings share a ‘little black book’ on us regular YC guests. They know who’s onboard. 😀😀😀😃
  18. I went and looked. Half of my wristbands from previous cruises have the YC logo and the other half only have the MSC logo. I’m thinking all the new YC ones have the YC logo as they are the only ones that are issued to guests gratis. They came in the YC folder at checkin.
  19. I doubt we’ll ever see any of the Dutch captains from HAL moving over, but I wouldn’t be displeased there. I always found them so personable.
  20. The Yacht Club Director email address is ycdirector@mscseascape.com. Going directly to the ship may be faster.
  21. sorry that was your experience. It would have been extremely unusual. The Yacht Club porters at the white tent are very good about checking room number tags and retagging with YC specific luggage tags; and putting the bags directly on the Yacht Club luggage cages. Did you check with your Butler or Junior Butler or Concierge Desk after about 4:00?
  22. Wish it could have been Fort Lauderdale. I think he told us over dinner one night he has a home in FLL.
