Had to go check. Dang! 8% is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick but 10% was definitely better. Thanks for the heads up.

That is a bummer. Maybe these posts made it too popular. I better get some before it is reduced again.

If you booked in February of 2023, you paid $60 pp pd. The price change was in December of 2022.

The easiest  way to tell is if you see Premium Desserts and Juice Bar on your Travel Summary, it means you paid the $60. All the 'New" benefits are then included for you. Princess has not yet updated the New benefits online though, so you won't see them yet.

The date may have been a re-fare of an older booking. Not itemized on my invoice, it says Princess Plus $0.00 but clearly lists plus-50 on the personalizer and none of the extras listed in the travel summary. Frankly, it doesn't matter as we won't use that stuff anyway. Not going to pay an extra $10per day for them.

This got me thinking.  I booked my Barcelona-Italy cruise last March for 2024.  I did book Plus.  Will I be entitled to those new add ons or do I have to do something different.  I checked my reservation and it doesn't say that I have them.  I don't want to rebook because I LOVE my room choice.

Should be no need to rebook. You should be able to pay the difference either before or onboard the first day to upgrade.

Help me with the math please. Cost for me and my husband to upgrade to the new plus package is $10 per person per day. We are going on an 11 day cruise. 11 x $20. = $220 or don’t upgrade and each pay 14.99 to activate Ocean Ready plus if we use casual dining at 14.99 each twice that a total cost of  (2 x $14.99) + (4 x 14.99)= $89.94. If my calculations are correct, it doesn’t make sense to upgrade. Am I missing anything?

Premium desserts, Juice bar, and fitness classes. Still not worth it IMO.

saw it a few places (screenshots).

what gets me is that this isn’t just about food. You order towels through ocean now as well, which you can no longer use unless you pay the $15. I suppose you can just ask your stateroom attendant when you see them though.

Thank goodness just put the phone down. I imagined the people standing in the hall outside their cabin waiting for delivery so they could save $5.😁

Seems likely but they did make a point of stating that this is not going to be the case. Who knows if that will stay or not but, since they are barfing on the heads of all the Standard fare folks they may well be satisfied with pushing more folks to purchase a package.

I was a bit peeved with them when they went on about how they don't understand why anybody would ever not want to book Plus or especially Premier. In their minds anybody who doesn't book Premier is weird and if they don't at least book Plus they are somehow defective. I guess they have no concept of people who have to budget to cruise at all or who simply have no interest in drinking alcohol, mocktails, or snazzy coffee. It was a bit like the folks in Congress who have giant incomes and buy their own groceries, gas, etc.

Sounds like Princess might just end the standard rate at some point, but they need it for low lead in pricing.

Also Azamara, Costa, MSC, Norwegian and Seabourn.  Holland America though is an exception similar to Princess.  Unless you consider the 'dam at the end of each ship as being the same, lol.

You are dam right. Not sure why I included HAL, I was thinking Norwegian.

Everyone’s definition oh heavy drinker is different. For us 8-10 drinks would not be unusual on a cruise or on a weekend

According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, drinking is considered to be in the moderate or low-risk range for women at no more than three drinks in any one day and no more than seven drinks per week. For men, it is no more than four drinks a day and no more than 14 drinks per week

I'd only be concerned if Elite and boarding in PE, FL, and want to try and secure Sanctuary.  Otherwise, not every second counts.

Just show up early. You can still check in, find a seat in the elite lounge and be in the first boarding group as far as I can tell. A couple of minutes less of sitting in the lounge is not so bad.
