  1. Interesting Why are bubbles and Rose and Moscato so expensive? Are they all sweet wines. I dont drink but I do like Brown
  2. When are you planning to visit Australia/NZ, Lyle? Prices are cheap at present. Have you cruised with Carnival? They are offering great deals to cruisers who have cruised with them previously.
  3. Yes beautiful roses were up the top, with gravestones further down the hill.
  4. The Beehive Executive Wing Wellington Parliament is very interesting to tour.
  5. You can walk down through an interesting old graveyard, showing gravestones for whole families - so sad!
  6. I'm so sorry you got ripped off. It is the principle. No-one likes to be overcharged! I had walked the distance, so knew it shouldn't cost much. Taxi off taxi rank, charged $21, whilst it should have been around $10. The story ended up having a happy ending. I asked a man in my building for a taxi recommendation for my return trip to the railway station. He said he only uses uber and ended up driving me to railway station and wouldn't take any money. He said you remind me of my mother and I couldn't charge my mother any money!! Made my day! What a lovely man!!
  7. POS Is that positive? So he will be in isolation for 10 more days, or 10 days in all? Covid has a language all of its own. Hope Gary is feeling better.
  8. Big scoop of vanilla ice cream in a glass with a shot of black coffee in a little glass which you pour over the ice cream i like to drink coffee through ice cream (don't mix).
  9. Have you heard the weather forecast for when you go around the corner and turn left and across the Great Australia Bight?
  10. I only had cappuccino for breakfast, with an Italian. I enjoy Italian cappuccino because it is stronger. I don't do coffee standing up at a high table (? Germany)! nor out of aluminium expresso percolator pots (too strong). My favourite is affogato coffee which we can get everywhere here now. Do they have it on the ship without selling your house?
  11. I would have been broken hearted to miss WA ports, so I can understand your disappointment. It is not like you can visit for a weekend! I would have been prepared for Broome, as it is an unreliable port due to its high tides, but not the others. I have visited Perth by ship, car, plane and train. The latter was the highlight! Recommend September/October for Spring wild flowers. I would visit more often if it wasn't so far away.
  12. As ships depart Fort Lauderdale, they have a horn blowing competition, eg loudest and longest. We walked around and watched. However, Freemantle was different, it sounded like a joyful celebration of the return of cruise ships. They feel neglected in the West at the lack of cruiseships, unlike the numbers in The East. Hope everyone in iso was on correct side of ship to view the spectacle.
  13. The cruise line needs to understand Ausssies resent the belief that US$ are acceptable everywhere, like we are a third world country! They should fix their prices into Aussie $s ASAP!
  14. I don't recall Europe having coffee/tea facilities in your room. Europe has good coffee at cafes. Cappuccino only for breakfast as a rule. England has kettles.
  15. One of the joys cruising on Hurtigruten, their little shops only sell quality clothing you'd buy if you needed warmer clothes. No junk. You don't cruise to shop. However I used to buy duty free perfume.
  16. I used to carry an element (?) you put in your cup to boil water for tea.. You don't realise just how reliably good our coffee, tea and food are until you travel overseas.
  17. Agree. I can't drink bad coffee. It is hard to spoil a cup of tea, as long as the water has been boiled. Some motels in the US used to provide coffee makers only to make tea - ugh!
  18. I travelled around Alaska on the Alaskan Marine Highway. When the big ships left late afternoon, the atmosphere in the small towns changed.
  19. These prices are disgraceful on a basic ship. Equal to what you pay in cafes in Australia. Maybe they could provide boiling water, bring your own teabag!
  20. I'm intrigued what is the attraction of this huge ship? This ship, like a little city, must be the attraction?
