  1. I can see the cruise ships making brief stops to deliver emergency supplies. EM
  2. And those of us who were military and/or lived in Europe…. EM
  3. I don’t believe the second cruise was even on the radar when he booked the first. When he made the inquiry, he had t yet booked the second. Consider that you already reside in Europe. Air fare is not as big a deal for you as if you were in the western hemisphere, looking at fares that might exceed the cost of the cruise, plus coming in a day early and paying for a hotel. Sometimes, you have to be flexible, grab the opportunity. EM
  4. It what if missing the last day of a cruise meant you could embark on another cruise? A few weeks ago a man was wondering if he could debark in Civitavecchia and catch the train in time to board another ship the same day in Venice. Replies were not encouraging, but I suggested he leave the original cruise at the previous port (La Spezia), get the train there to Venice, spend the night and board the second cruise the next day (Armonia from Marghera). EM
  5. It’s on the Celebrity board here. EM
  6. There is a TV series called Mighty Cruise Ships which we get on Smithsonian channel in my area. One episode from their first year (2014) features Le Soleal in Indonesia. You might see if you can find it online. It might give you an idea of what guests wear onboard. EM
  7. It does not matter how you book as long as you are booking a fare available to the general public. The last part means if you book a cabin in one category, such as OV, and win a bid for a higher grade, such as Aqua, you will on,y get the points for the original category. EM
  8. I believe he is trying to remind you that Symphony has not sailed her first cruise yet. EM
  9. There will be a hair dryer in the drawer at the desk. Not in the bathroom. I believe there will be two US (110v) and two EU (220v) also at the desk. Do not believe there will be usb outlets, but I haven’t sailed this ship. EM
  10. What is your port before Malta? Is it a Schengen country? Is your itinerary one that embarks guests at most ports? If so, it should not be a problem. EM
  11. No. There is a slider bar that starts at the minimum. EM
  12. Once you have your cabin assigned, keep checking your booking because you may discover an upgrade offer. I was assigned one of those 4K insides with window on Spirit, had an upgrade offer for balcony for $100. But since it was only 4 nights and I seldom use a balcony when I have it, I declined. I had barely paid more than that for it original inside gty. EM
  13. Ahhh…officially you can’t get your travel docs until 20 days before your cruise. Interestingly I was sent the link to one cruise 31 days before. The other I could on,y get to the docs on the website at 20 days. EM
  14. I remember checking AIS for Venice a few weeks ago and a Windstar ship was at Marittima. Someone on the Windstar board here reported that they docked in Marittima in May. EM
  15. Apparently you have to have opted in to marketing emails. If your cruise is offering the opportunity to bid for an upgrade, you will receive the invitation by email. Here are the FAQs. Sorry I could not capture all in one screenshot.
  16. Apparently Viking River roll calls are grouped by itinerary and year. It seems whoever moderates that board is not paying attention to it and unpinning the topics from previous years. EM
  17. I’m wondering if you might not have any formal nights. Formal night is never the first night, or the last night. But Grandiosa boards guests in every port. You can’t ask guests to dress up the day they board…. But I haven’t sailed MSC in Europe so someone who has will have to step up and give us the answer. EM
  18. I recently upgraded my Apple SE (2) to SE(3). At the time I asked the rep ( Verizon) which phones they sold the most, and he said Apple. He inferred it wasn’t close. EM
  19. This would not be the first time a ‘Member’ with no posting history submits a disappointed -or worse… review. EM
  20. This card was in my cabin on Summit in June:
  21. Your bid would be per person, not per day. I believe if you won a Fantastica balcony you would stay Bella, but if you won an Aurea you would get Aurea benefits. These are screen shots of the bid amounts for my four day cruise. I upped the bid amount for the Aurea balcony to $110pp and won. The other pic is the intro at the top of the page when you click to bid. I kept it on my open tab and it continued to show the offers for the cabins I did not bid on. When I won the bid, those offers disappeared and at the bottom of said Not eligible to bid.
  22. Agree with JAGR. Land at 1100, still need to get off plane and get to baggage claim, get bags, get transportation. Too close for comfort. EM
  23. My first cruise booked for 8/17 I booked inside Fantastica gty and had the option to bid before any cabin was assigned. I bid low on an OV, Aurea balcony ( lowest Aurea category) and YIN. After I was assigned a cabin, which was a balcony, I got another I’m it’s to bid, and the amounts were lower than the first time. I only bid on Aurea and YIN, low bids, and got Aurea. The bids on offer for the prior 4 day were actually lower than for the 3 day. EM
