  1. Aloha. A great big mahalo to you for providing such detailed information. We are blessed to have some long cruises reserved on HAL and other high end lines but it is true what Gus said about so many top tier guests like ourselves and you that the benefits are scant except for the personified gifts we receive around the holidays. I am more geared towards the ship the line the itinerary. Dividing our time between NY and Honolulu I enjoy being unnoticed as long as the service and quality is there. That said I am so grateful for your summary. Sad that John and Dianne are not on board as their input would have been interesting. Some others just are too full of themselves as I do not include them in my analysis. Best regards!!!
  2. Aloha. Have been following Johns posts on FB but so happy to read your post here on CC. All Blessings and love!
  3. Aloha. She is doing well and recovering Thank God. What a lovely couple. Not self centered and not self important. Loved reading their posts just like the inside cabin.
  4. Aloha. Blessed to sail since the 1970s and with various cruise lines and ships. It is impossible to compare in my opinion yesteryear and now. The cruise lines in my opinion really don't care about loyalty as much. Too many cruisers. I love the yum yum man on HAL and order off the menu in QG on Canard etc etc but really don't need nor care to meet the captain and cruise director. That said I expect my moneys worth and it is an individual opinion but its our choice to make and these forums provide an excellent tool to see what is going on and changes and experiences being encountered.
  5. Aloha. Blessed to be born and raised in Manhattan and now divide our time between there and Hawaii. Cruising and flying to Bermuda since the early 1970s and will only cruise there during June and July and fly Memorial Day weekend and mid August. Just my opinion but noticed cruise lines are sailing there almost year round now. The water is rough the weather is meh during other times. I respect those traveling there other times but it is not conducive in my opinion to an experience one may be expecting.
  6. Aloha. We have been blessed to cruise since 1971. My first cruise was the Olympia at 16k tons! I believe we have all been spoiled. Keep in mind the France Norway QE2 Sovereign of the Seas were considered huge during their years. We sailed on a sister to the Nautica and I will tell you I prefer the smaller ships. We sailed regularly to Bermuda when you could dock on Front Street so the bottom line is in my opinion you will enjoy. Please keep us posted!
  7. Aloha. Most people I find enjoy sharing their experiences and photos with fellow CCs. Have been blessed to sail worldwide since the 1970s and that said still learn and love reading experiences and looking at food pictures. I have noticed however that their are paid influencers on several boards which try to hide the fact that they are sailing for free or at reduced rates. Some also are travel agents who fail to disclose such. Unfortunately I find lack of transparency to provide false information such as found on hotel sites and food sites. It is what it is so I ignore the posts and move on. All the best!
  8. Aloha. Wishing you and everyone on board a fabulous Valentine’s Day and also Ash Wednesday for those who are Catholic. I have a question if I may… How is Barb? I may have missed your discussion of her as I enjoyed your discussions of her in the past. All best regards.
  9. Aloha. Blessed to travel the world since the 1960s and the reality is everything has changed and often not for the better. I am a regular visitor to Bermuda by sea and air and read their daily news digitally as well as other papers around the world. Once a truly safe haven is no longer. Jamaica sad to say has always been a place to keep sharp eyes but being from NY it is second nature but will not keep me from traveling. All the best!
  10. Aloha. Always enjoy your reports and thank you for taking the time to post the menus which I enjoy. I have collected menus from countless voyages since the 1970s while they are stored in countless boxes along with other memorabilia I enjoy comparing what has changed and what has not. Sailing HAL since 1976 has brought joy and smiles and you certainly help keep me smiling. All the best!
  11. Aloha. It truly is a wonderful journey and voyage and Ushuaia is extremely beautiful and special. Enjoy!
  12. Aloha. I agree with always asking for gravy on the side no matter where I am. I am a true carnivore and love prime rib. That said I also enjoy dipping a little but not every bite so I make sure to always mention no matter where I may be…Peter Luger, Mortons, Keens, Hy’s………
  13. Aloha. Love your pictures. Grew up watching them build the WTC then sadly when it fell because of the sub humans. Lived across the street also. But the pictures of Ms Liberty which I am blessed to see from my windows never cease to impress. Have a wonderful voyage!
  14. Aloha. Agree. On another board, an entitled constantly reminds everyone they are President Club members. On a world cruise. They are ridiculed on other sites. It is annoying especially for 4 months lol!
  15. Aloha. We are blessed to divide our time between NY and Honolulu. Have sailed NCL Hawaii since its inception and keep in mind the voyage is different than foreign flagged lines but for your first hawaiian adventure it certainly beats all the time spent flying around. I agree with the advice posted so go with a very relaxed attitude and keep us posted!
  16. Aloha. Have been blessed to sail HAL and Cunard countless times since the 1970s. Both lines and their respective ships are magical voyages which I believe you will enjoy Cunard. Sailed various categories with both and for at least 20 years PG and QG with Cunard and Neptune with HAL. That said we prefer and enjoy tuxes and suits versus casual but are very open to the when in Rome approach. A transatlantic is unlike any other and is a special treat. Enjoy!
  17. Aloha. We totally love Polynesia. Blessed to have visited many times. No bugs lol. By sea and air. From Hawaii and NY. Once a direct from JFK on ATN but they no longer have that flight sad to say.
  18. Aloha. Ice cream social looked great. Now I am having ice cream!
  19. Aloha. Regarding Florida living, we sold our condo near Ft Lauderdale some time ago and decided retirement would be between NY and Honolulu. While I respect those who have decided to retire to Florida I personally find the airfare between NY and Florida repulsive. So many people I know are in Florida and I run into them all the time. The water and weather is better in Hawaii as is the airfare lol. Additionally ai enjoy the food and the people. There is a different vibe and I find NY and Florida too similar. Just my opinion so when you and Jeff are serious about a retirement plan, do consider becoming part of the Hawaii’Ohana!
  20. Aloha. Always enjoy your posts and prose as well as pictures of food and especially the menus which I thank you for. With all due respect, how do you pack those hats lol?
  21. Aloha. Enjoy my native Manhattan! Have been blessed to dine at the River Cafe. One of few NYC restaurants that survived more than a few years!
