  1. I hope they do the the right thing and at the very least offer a FCC. A refund would obviously be preferable.
  2. I was chatting to TA this evening and she informed that there will be changes in a couple of weeks to the way the Health Questionnaire is completed. The requirement to complete prior to the cruise will cease and it will be at the terminal building prior to boarding. She is mindful of the number who have been denied boarding unnecessarily by innocently answering Yes. She is waiting for the full text of the change but it sounds as if P&O are being sensible or forced to make this change.
  3. Not complaining, just stating facts.
  4. Surely P&O do not pay duty on alcohol whilst outside territorial waters ? Their profits must be huge.
  5. That wasn't my experienced, nearly £200 difference, Avanti cheaper.
  6. Ex RN and wondering how competitive they are ? Over 75, high blood pressure and wife, type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. Annual world wide cruise cover, with Avanti was £530 in July, which I thought was very good.
  7. I have found Avanti reasonable, especially for an annual policy.
  8. To quote my reply receive on 23 November. "Your shareholder benefit has been applied and a revised booking confirmation that will show the added onboard credit has been sent." This is for my Arvia cruise in September 23. Enough from me.
  9. You assume wrongly. Normal deposit made.
  10. I applied last week for my Avia cruise in Sep 23. Reply in 48 hours, no problems.
  11. Is the pickup, shared, on the day of the cruise ? We live about 200 miles away. What time do they usually pick up ? Thanks.
  12. I don't mind people not adhering to the dress code but there are times I get annoyed. One example was a Celebration night onboard Iona. A large group, I assumed they were a family were sitting/standing together in the Atrium in scruffy clothes which I might have worn when gardening. You couldn't help noticing them, but the killer for me was the next night they were dressed in acceptable smart casual. They did the same on the following weeks Celebration night, obviously trying to wind people up.
  13. I assume it is the size of the BCC. The dermatologist tells me if it needs surgery or six weeks of applying the cream, Bescallex imiquimod, Monday to Friday, rest days at the weekend ! The cream burns the BCC, not the skin, very clever.
  14. I have had several BCC's removed by surgery or cream over the past 20 years. I am currently waiting for a decision by the MOD re compensation after advice from a dermatology consultant that most evolve when you are over 50, caused by exposure in very hot climates, when you were in your late teens or early 20's. I served in RN in hot climates during that time so odds on that is the cause. No skin protection in those days, 60's. At least BCC's do not mutate or are malignant.
  15. It is not a normal theatre booking.
  16. From what I have read elsewhere, if one of you win, you both win and receive two tickets.
  17. Being brought up in Debden, I know that route well. There is a heritage line running from Blake Hall, the stop before Ongar, to Epping. I hope to do it next summer when I visit the area.
  18. Reading peoples experiences when they were first married many years ago makes you realise how hard we worked to buy our first house and old banger. After leaving the RN in the early 70's, we had no savings and had to find accommodation after living in married quarters. I joined the police but waited eight months to hear I had been accepted and a further seven months had to pass training course, before I was given a Police Quarter. You had to live in a quarter until your probation was finished, two years and then could apply to be considered to purchase your own house. Even this procedure was regimented and an Inspector had to sign it off as suitable. Then it was my wife and I, she was a nurse, working shifts and overtime to save. When our children came along, often I would get home at about 7pm and she would be out the door to do a 4 hour late shift. I then had kids to manage ! Was it worth it ? Of course, now reaping the benefit of hard work. People now won't wait for anything and that's when financial trouble rears it's ugly head.
  19. We never both with afternoon tea, but to advertise it and knowingly not provide it is false advertising.
  20. Shares dropped 11% very quickly.
  21. Lovely ship. We will be back onboard in 9 weeks !
  22. Have you booked it direct with P&O ? I have an agent, who works from home and when I book select, will give me a selection of what's available in the grade I want to pay for.
  23. I'll be more clear. I am not saying a formal dress code is necessary. I just want a clear dress code, whether it is smart casual every night or optional Black Tie nights included. As long as we don't descend into smart shorts as an option because who decides on what is smart ? Opens up a can of worms and I think Restaurant Managers will be reluctant to argue with passengers who believe their clothes are smart.
  24. The last time we went on a hotel holiday in Minorca, 5 years ago in a nice 4 *, people were eating dinner in the restaurant dressed in grubby shorts and t shirts they had been wearing all day, and probably the day before. We vowed then it was the last time and we would stick to cruising. If you totally stop any dress code that's what would happen very quickly on British cruise ships. Do we really want that ?
