  1. My deluxe balcony on Iona was the same width as a normal balcony and a bit longer plus a slightly larger balcony. What I think is more important is what the furniture layout is. Cabins in the centre of the bulge have larger balconies but not as large as some normal 'corner' balconies Layout one - bathroom/sofa/bed/balcony Layout two - bathroom/bed/sofa/balcony There are roughly equal numbers of each
  2. The Crows nest equivalent will be the Planet bar on deck 18 aft. It is a large venue but is sort of at the wrong end of the ship IMO Restaurants are: The Epicurian on deck 17 The Beach House on Deck 15 in the evening - actually part of the buffet but waiter service The Glass House on deck 7 for wine and food, my favourite venue Sindhu on deck 7 for Indian fusion? There is a small library in the Atrium on deck 6
  3. Don't worry the labels will be provided before the cases are loaded on the transfer coach if not before. It has happened to me before.
  4. According to another place there are 3 USB sockets under the wall lights
  5. I bought my shares via equiniti so just email shareholderbenefits quoting my shareholder reference, ship and sailing date
  6. I bought mine via my TUI TA for my Explorer cruise in november. The insurance is AXA and the TA gave me a certificate as part of the paperwork, 4 A4 pages. I also contacted the medical help line to get an additional quote for my medical conditions. So i have the certificate, the medical endorsement and the small AXA policy book.
  7. If your partner cant travel you have to occupy the cabin on your own. If you had booked that cabin as a solo cruiser you would have paid the fare for one of a couple plus a single supplement somewhat less than the fare for the second person. I would expect you to be able to cruise but don't expect any form of rebate. P&O will get the original price of the cabin. Don't tell them until the last minute in case they want to cancel you and sell the cabin to someone else.
  8. A bungalow with rooms in the roof space would be called a chalet bungalow but retains the sloping roof and the upstairs rooms will have dormer windows
  9. Does that price include entry to the Monte Tropical Gardens and a glass of Maderia at the bottom kaf ?
  10. Eleven days so far so not just feeling poorly for a couple of days. You don't know how bad it can be until you experience it.
  11. You would not get any more benefit from doing that unless Carnival reinstate their dividends. i am sticking with the 100 shares as long as i get shareholder bebnefit
  12. I have had 2 Tesco xmas deliveries and basically I bought far too much stuff. This will be my 3rd xmas alone and I intend to keep things simple. A nice ribeye steak and bottle of Shiraz for xmas day and maybe a mince pie or two. I have booked a xmas/new year Canaries cruise for next year as the previous ones were enjoyable.
  13. I was but the visit to the shops has exhausted me. I managed to keep away from everyone though. A Tesco delivery order for Tuesday is my plan for this afternoon and dozing/kindle reading
  14. Day 9 today, still 2 red lines so will cancel my retinal scan on Wednesday 🥺 Have to do a shop today so well masked up and avoid close contacts.
  15. It looks increasingly like I will not be paying the final balance on my Iona January cruise and concentrating on getting the £400+ refund promised me months ago on my paid up April Arvia cruise Add that to my Iona saving and i will have about £3500 to spend on short breaks in the UK, without any insurance problems. Thinking about York, Glasgow, Portsmouth, Isle of Man, Orkney, Shetland etc etc.
  16. Mmm! fingerprinting etc etc. Dover is starting to show anxious signs
  17. Sadly there will be many tens of thousands of them out there.
  18. I just checked my Axa cover for my Marella cruise in November. The policy says it will cover you if you have covid and have to cancel etc however what it does not mention is proof of illness. Research on how to a valid PCR test as proof will be needed. Marella drop their version of FCC at the end of October. An alternative is go on holidays that don't need travel insurance. The UK is a big place with lots to see and I don't fancy foreign hotel holidays as a solo traveller though.
  19. I have a final balance due in mid October. With transport and hotel costs it is close to £3000. I will give serious consideration about cancelling and spending the money on UK land holidays instead. I have a Arvos cruise next April but that is already paid for having been moved twice
  20. IIRC Carnival purchased P&O to get Princess and may have been treating P&O as a cash cow ever since. The dollar income from P&O cruisers who pay in pounds has been decreasing for years as the value of the pound falls. Carnival accountants don't like this. So do they increase fares or reduce expenditure. They reduce expenditure, made easier by the 'musn't complain' attitude of the british. Will we get evening turndown back? Was on a Marella cruise this month, full turndown service with chocolate on pillow. Another thing, why close your revenue earning venues, cut the MDR instead
  21. I was there as well. The damaged section did not endanger the safety of the ship but it worried lots of passengers
