  1. Thank you so much for your detailed information!! Our itinerary shows overnight in Papeete, no Moorea. We booked private excursion for the 1st day, but only from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. We were thinking maybe after the excursion, we will return to the ship for a short break, then leave the ship again to check out the Papeete Market. Then the next day take a ferry to Moorea. Since you mentioned there is no vendors by the ferry terminal (Moorea side), then maybe we will just don't bother to go to Moorea. Maybe after the 1st excursion, just return to the ship and rest. Then the next day go check out the market and nearby streets. Our ship will leave at 5 p.m. the next day. I don't want to get local currency if not a "must" have, because I don't want to have leftover currency of no use. Maybe we will only buy from booths or vendors who take cc or USD. You mentioned your ship stayed overnight in Papeete. I read on some travel sites that mentioned there are lots of food trucks at night by the cruise terminal. Did you try any food from the food trucks? If so, good and clean? Take cc or USD? Thank you!😊
  2. Thank you for your information on Papeete and Moorea. We will have a port stop in Papeete in April on Majestic Princess. The ship will arrive early morning, overnight there, and leave next day in the late afternoon. I have a few questions, and appreciate any input. 1. Did you need to get local currency or can use credit card for all your purchases? 2. You noticed any ATM by the cruise terminal? 3. Your Moorea ferry $10/way, did you pay with USD cash or you were able to use credit card? 4. We are debating if on the 2nd day, we should take the ferry to Moorea. After you got to Moorea, did you notice if there were tour vendors by the ferry pier selling tours? 5. Were there much to do or see in Moorea by the ferry pier if we only plan to stay nearby? Thank you in advance for your assistance!!
  3. Thanks. We will only go to Tahiti one time, so don't want to have leftover of local currency. Did you try their night time food trucks by the cruise ships? If so, did you like it? Can use credit card?
  4. Do you know if there is ATM by the market? Also, those booths that only take cash, will they take USD? Thank you.
  5. Yes, 18 sea days, so nice! We love sea days. We only cruise on Princess, and we have visited almost all the ports that their ships go to that we want to visit. Now, we mainly go on the Princess cruises that have many sea days.☺️ We have done a lot of repositioning cruises and loved all of them.
  6. Thank you for the information. We are doing the 27 days TransPacific cruise on Majestic. April 4 from Sydney to Los Angeles. Will visit 3 NZ ports, Tahiti (overnight), and 3 Hawaii ports. About 20 years ago, we did a 8 days land tour of Australia (Sydney, Gold Coast, Melbourne), so this time, we will arrive Sydney only one day before the cruise (just in case of flight delay). We will arrive at 8 a.m., so we will have a full day to do some shopping for snacks and souvenirs to take back to the U.S. for friends/family.
  7. Did you purchase your items at the market in Papeete with local currency or you were able to use your credit card?
  8. Besides testing the day before embarkation, during our 28 day cruise vacation, we plan to test ourselves every 4 days and also on the last day before disembarkation, If we test positive, we need to be isolated; we don't want to give the virus to others if we are positive. So we need about 18 test kits for the two of us. The 20 tests we have at home expire in July, we might as well use it. So we prefer to bring those tests instead of buying new ones in Sydney.
  9. I booked solo cabin and I want to pay for my sister also (different solo cabin) using my OBC. When I call, can I book for 2 persons in different cabin and ask to have both dinners be charged to my cabin?
  10. I plan to bring my home (U.S.) self-test and perform the test in the hotel the night (April 3) before my Princess cruise. We have 1 day in Sydney before our cruise. All the home self-test kits (made in U.S.) I have at home will expire on March 31, 2023. When my sister went to Canada a few months ago, she brought back some self-test (made in Canada) with the expiration date of July 31, 2023. So I decided to bring those test kits to Sydney. When I checked the site (below) last month, the Canada test kits I have were on the list of self-test that were approved in Australia. Today I went to that website again, and noticed the list was updated on January 30, 2023. Now, the kits from the Canada manufacturer is no longer on the approval list. Does that mean if I use those kits that are not on the approval list, Princess will not accept my test result? https://www.tga.gov.au/products/covid-19/covid-19-tests/covid-19-rapid-antigen-self-tests-home-use/covid-19-rapid-antigen-self-tests-are-approved-australia
  11. Oh, I didn't know we don't have to pay at time of booking, but pay at the end of dinner. Thanks.
  12. After getting on the ship, I want to use my OBC to book specialty dinner for myself and another person (in different cabin). Can I use my OBC to pay for the specialty dinner for the other person also?
  13. For our upcoming cruise, I have a lot of OBC and my sister (different cabin) does not have any OBC. After we get on the ship, can I book specialty dinners for the two of us using my OBC? If okay to do that, do I need to go to Guest Service or the specialty dining room to make the reservations and the charges?
  14. Just to make sure I will have no problem using my U.S. Visa card (have chip but no PIN) to pay for my Sydney hotel at check-in, I emailed the hotel and asked. Their reply "This is to confirm we could accept your US card without a PIN". Besides the hotel charges, I am almost sure I will not have any single purchases of $200+. So I am good. Thank you everyone for suggestions and information.
  15. Hi Ombud, Thanks for answering my questions yesterday. I have one more question that I forgot to ask yesterday. In your case of "once complete the 1st one, your 2nd one was loaded to your account", did you know ahead that you will get 2 packages? In other words, were you told by Room Service you will get 2 packages when you called in to trade your mini-bar?
  16. Thanks. My next cruise will be on the Majestic on April 4. I will find out if Majestic will give 2 packages for solo passenger's mini bar trade. Hopefully so.
  17. In April I will be doing a b2b on Majestic, also booked solo. 1st segment, 5 days and 2nd segment, 22 days. On the 1st segment, I will request my mini-bar trade for coffee package, lets see if I will get one or two package. Hopefully I will get 2 packages, then I will have 30 coffee for my total 27 days. If so, then for my 2nd segment, I can trade in for 20 Perrier water.
  18. How long ago were you on Discovery? I was on Discovery just 2 months ago and they only gave me one package.
  19. I was on Discovery only 2 months ago when I was told only one package per customer per mini-bar trade.
  20. Yes, I remember reading your post regarding you gotten 2 coffee pkgs as a solo, and the 2nd one loaded once the 1st one completed. When I was told on my November's Discovery Princess cruise that I will only get one pkg, I told them I read on CC (your post) what you said. But both RS and IC told me it has always been Princess' policy for mini bar trade-in, it is one coffee pkg of 15-specialty coffee per passenger.
