We (two of us) took 2 - 12 packs of Coke cans on board with us when we boarded the Emerald in San Pedro on 10/16.
    no issues whatsoever.

Did you do it as a carry-on & carry them on yourself or  with checked luggage & given to the porters @ the terminal???
Either way thanks for letting us know,

I have always carried on some soft drinks and am wondering if anyone has done so recently?  I thought I read somewhere that you cannot bring any plastic bottles any longer, but I can't find the reference anymore.

I was wondering the same thing.   Is it being enforced???   So we can not give our soft drinks in a box ( marked & tagged) to give to the porters with our checked luggage?????          Just seems  kind of awkward & heavy the way they want you to do it now.  ???      Do they think the porters @ the terminal are over worked or the ship’s crew??????

Smoke smell update from San Pedro. This port is so stinky I couldn’t smell cigarette smoke if I tried. 🤣🤣🤣

I spent two hours at the Aft Terrace pool today. It was quite pleasant, quiet and hit in the sun. No smoke smell.

Thanks for keeping us posted. It looks like you got lucky going on the Ruby & not choosing the Grand. Hopefully you guys don’t have an Aft cabin or suite on the Starboard side, if you use your balcony a lot.   At least the passengers on the port side aft won’t have to smell the cigarette smoke smell from below on the Ruby.
San Pedro usually does have the gasoline smell in that port. Probably because of the refueling.
Have lots of fun on your cruise. And thanks again for all the info.

Aft smoking area. There is still there area around the corner.
Getting ready to head to Sabatinis tonite. We had booked Share which we loved but I realize we were in the minority for sure. 😝

Thanks so much for taking the time to take these great photos . For us non-smokers it means a lot.  Are passengers able to walk thru this area???

It absolutely the same on Emerald. We both expressed our opposition to this in our after cruise survey. This along with the fact that the Terrace Pool/Horizon Terrace areas were closed for the vast majority of the cruise and also large segments of the Promenade Deck were roped off for maintenance during the day. This after 18 months without passengers.

Now I’m a little confused.  Was the whole aft area on the Promenade deck on the Emerald roped off for crew smoking?????
Thanks so much for the clarification,

I just wonder who in corporate management was responsible for this CruiseHealth protocol. Have they ever enjoyed walking the Promenade deck or watching the wake from an aft cabin balcony?

Also, interesting how covid protocols do not allow crew to smoke indoors, yet Princess still allows smoking by passengers in the money-making casino.

    Great point you make!!!!!

Wait a minute....you cannot walk laps around the Promenade Deck b.ecause they have parts roped off for smoking?  We are on the Emerald on 11/16 and that is one of the things that we are looking forward to.  We love walking the Promenade Deck.  It is one thing that we missed when we were on the Regal.

Yes,    That’s what I was told here on CC by someone  on the Emerald right now or has just gotten home.

Soooooooooooooooooo, I can visualize the entire group of aft CUSTOMERS (who, BTW, are the ONLY reason that the crew has a job and the cruise line has a business!), encountering/ confronting the smoking staff and/ or Passenger Services and telling them in no uncertain terns is this acceptable!!! We select an aft cabin EVERY time and typically closer to port side as typically the smoking areas are starboard.

As @TM stated, where did they smoke before the pandemic? IMHO, smoking is worse for you then hanging out in the old staff smoking area with Covid happenings. It is hypocritical anyway, breathing out all of the toxins to other passengers and crew.

You are right!!!  I sent off an email to Customer Relations to let them know how disappointed & concerned I am about this.   How did they think this would fly with the passengers.    I just read here on CC that it’s the same on the Emerald.  So that makes the Ruby, Grand & Emerald. Wonder if they will do the same on the Crown. Princess is saying not enough passengers are complaining.
Yes, that will be me going to the Passengers Service desk as soon as we board on the 10th.

Thanks so much for the info. Not sure how Princess could allow this.
If they had this in mind,  which it seems like it, they sure should have let us know that our use of our suite  balcony D736 would be super limited at best.  Just so you know,  it’s the Ruby, Emerald & the Grand that has been confirmed by passengers that are on or were on the ship.  Some have taken photos.  Also they are saying not many passengers have complained.
Someone gave me the Custom Relations email & I emailed them our concern & disappointment .

    I am emailing:

    customerrelations@princesscruises.com.

    about my concerns.

@PrincessLuver. I would not book any aft cabin port or starboard side or true aft until Princess changes this smoking policy for crew. On the Grand the smoking area was roped off on BOTH sides almost all the up to the aft side doors by the vista lounge leading outside. Just because on our sailing the crew mostly smoked port or aft doesn’t mean they won’t smoke starboard. It is ALL open to them for smoking.Any cabin back there runs the risk of being the unlucky one that they happen to under at that time.

Also on the Ruby the area could be enlarged to what it is on the Grand at any time without notice. It is not worth the risk to me.

@Ronniesladyi sailed in B751 starboard owners suite. The smoke was strong enough and often enough that it greatly diminished my cabin experience.  I do spend a lot of time on my balcony at all hours. That said the fabulous crew and on board experience made it all worthwhile. Hand to God the Crew on the Grand are so warm, welcoming, helpful and accommodating you will just love sailing on her.

I am moving my C735 & C739 starboard side aft balconies on the Nov 27 Ruby 10 day cruise to Caribe deck forward port side. I am keeping my Aloha deck aft facing penthouse for the Nov 22 first leg. I’ll report back regarding the smoke.

Do you think that the crew got used to smoking in that area, when they were sailing without passengers & now as they say been taken over by them. Do they the upper management will let them get away with it???   If so, now that there’s passengers “get out”.

I realize the crew works very hard, but did Princess forget who pays for the cruise?  Prices have gone up considerably since our cruise was cancelled twice now.  I have my first aft suite booked for our 21st anniversary. Husband after 3 years of surgery's and chemo in remission and I with asthma.  Now what?

We are in the same boat with you.  When do you sail??
Does anyone  know is the crew allowed to smoke on the whole aft area & been blocked off, on the Emerald also  ????

Please post about this.  Thanks  a bunch 🙄

  12. Oh great!!!!!!      We are on the Grand this November 10th  in D736 . ITS ON THE PORT SIDE.    It’s a Vista suite.   We sure as H…. SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS SIDE WAS ADDED FOR THE SMOKERS.  WE GET THIS PARTICULAR SUITE FOR MOST OF OUR SAILINGS.   ITS NEVER BEEN A PROBLEM.   MY HUSBAND HAS ASTHMA AND IS VERY SENSITIVE TO CIGARETTE SMOKE.   HE WILL PROBABLY WANT TO CANCEL THE CRUISE.  WE USUALLY LIKE TO EAT LUNCH IN OUR BALCONY EVERYDAY.

I WANT TO PUT IN A COMPLAINT NOW ABOUT THIS.   SHOULD I GO THRU THE RESOLUTION DEPT.   ??????
Great that will be another double hour wait  again on hold.  NOT SURE AT THIS POINT WHO WE SHOULD TALK TO ABOUT THIS.  THEY BETTER HAVE A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM.

OR I GUESS WE WILL NOT BE SAILING.

NO WONDER THERE IS STILL VISTA SUITES AVAILABLE.  I GUESS THERE WILL BE ONE MORE.

ANY ADVICE WILL BE HELPFUL.  AND THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP,

    GRACE

  13. I agree with the OP.   You should demand that there are No glitches like when you walk into the Sabatinis or Crown Grill for Breakfast that 1st morning. They always check your cabin # .   Tell them you don’t want that uncomfortable feeling that they might give you , when they are trying to figure out why you are there. And you are having to stand around & wait while they are straightening this all out.   It can be embarrassing.
I am sure all will be fine.   On a bright spot , maybe they will think you are a VIP.  And have the Captain come & eat breakfast with you guys every morning.  I have really seen this. So I am not kidding.

We're sailing on the Grand in 10ish days and still cannot select an arrival time!  Green across the board for everything else though. 😁   Not worried about it though.  I find it entertaining to see all the various responses.

Same exactly with us.  We board the Grand on the 10th & I called the Ocean Navigator 2 days ago.  Of course I had to wait on hold for reservations for an hour.  Then  another hour to be told there were no longer any early spots open. Even when I told her that I did have Group A 11:30, but after they fixed their problem. The problem was they had the wrong sailing date.  (I was on hold for hours for that too) This was a few weeks ago. Then my early boarding was gone & it kept saying “it’s too early”.  Even when I explained that, the lady said there was nothing she could do to get it back. And that if the IT people did book me an arrival it would be a late time.   I reminded her that we were Elite & in a Full Suite.  That made no difference.   She said, “ just go to the terminal anytime & get into the Green Lane line.   Since we are all Green except for the Arrival.”
So that’s what we are doing.  What a waste of time & aggravation. If it doesn’t work there’s going to be hell to pay.  And I might end up in jail.

I was reading here on the boards that someone told the Ocean Navigator Dept.,  “she wasn’t using the Medallion” & they put all the info in for her. And that we should call them &  have them put in the info.   That for sure didn’t work for me.

Sorry, I went on & on,

    Grace

Since I'm NOT using their app I called Princess and got an early boarding time for my Dec cruise. I refuse to go through all the frustration of using an App. You need to call the regular Princess number and they will connect you to the Ocean Navigator dept.

How will you know when or if it was done.??  I did what you suggested & called the Navigator dept today When I finally got thru to the Naviator.dept.(2hours)  the lady said she would write a note to the IT dept. to put me into Group A & 11:30 boarding because that’s what it was when I was able  to add it to my App a few weeks ago ..  But the date was wrong, so when they finally fixed the date there went my boarding time.  And I was never able to add it after that.   My sailing is November 10th.

So now I have been checking & it doesn’t seem to be showing up on the App. yet.  Do you know how long it took??? Are you able to view it anywhere. ??
    Thanks,
    Grace

  16. Funny how when they had the wrong sailing date I was able to request arrival time a few weeks ago.   I was group A & boarding time was 11:30 .  Now since they fixed  the date of our  cruise that’s for this November 10 , it says it’s too early. Second set of Medallions came a few days ago with the right date.   How could it be too early for arrival times???   Absolutely crazy

    Tough crowd.

The point being that it was wasteful and unnecessary.

Yes,     Right,   My meaning was another great thing about the App. A total waste.   And I’m not one of these people that’s worried about my footprint.
Makes me wonder if Princess is going to survive all these mishaps.  Also because of what happens when you try to reach them on the phone.

I’m wondering  are they just taking people off the street & hiring them. It’s starting to feel kind of SCARY . Just think what people, new to Princess are thinking 🤔

  18. Guess what came in the mail today? ?     “Our Medallions for our Hawaii cruise that Princess canceled weeks ago.”   Has that happened to anyone else???
I waited on hold a few times to let Princess know that the cruise was still on that D…….app .    They said it would work its self out.    Look how great that worked out.

Thanks for the info.  So just to make sure I understand correctly.  You can order Specialty coffees, or other drinks,  and they are delivered to you anywhere, even in your cabin, at no charge if you have the drinks package?

    Thanks again,

What about if you don’t have the drink package, but you have the coffee package???     Is there a charge for delivering one of the fancy coffee’s to our cabin.  Or fresh brewed coffee from the international cafe , would they deliver to our cabins??  Is it nice & hot??

The room service coffee was never very good & was barely warm in that thermal jug.

Thanks for all the great info

YMMV, but here's my data point:

I submitted my request for my December 2021 and March 2022 sailings on October 7. Nothing posted by October 15, so I called the phone number (800 872 6779 ext. 30317) listed on the information sheet that day. After about 15 minutes on hold, the phone agent went and searched for my submission and applied the credits for both voyages.

Same thing happened to us.   Cruise is November 10th.  Lady said, they are running @ least 2 weeks & that they are way over loaded.    This has never happened to us.  I was faxing. It seemed she had a hard time finding it.  She finally did find it & put it on for me.

Getting Casino OBC (not Freeplay,)  on the promos has been a nightmare.

  21. Thanks for that question.  We would like to know also.  Hopefully one of the TA’s that are active here on CC will be kind enough to post the dates ahead , before they actually come out.

Just hope that Princess is not going to just post any Hawaii itineraries, just to end up moving them around again, dates & ships. 🤪 It’s been a real pain for Princess & us.
