  1. It seems to be used quite a bit, by mostly a niche (large) group of 'regular' posters, that are routinely active on the boards, whether they have a cruise currently booked or not. IMO there is still a lot of useful information to be found here, if one steers away from the 'hot button' topics like proper dining room attire, smoking onboard (especially in the casino), tipping, to name a few. I've found the roll calls on the HAL boards to typically be less active than other lines, but some are more active than others. All that said, if you're looking for helpful information, or have particular questions about HAL, you've come to the right place!
  2. Agree.. I don't smoke, but DW does. So you'll find both of us hanging out at the deck 9 aft smoking area near the seaview bar, where the FUN people are! 🙂
  3. Or you can take all of that 'any time dining' requesting upon arrival out of the equation, and contact HAL prior to sailing with your request to switch to set/fixed dining (early or late) table for two. If there is space available for your requested time and table size, they will accommodate your request. We prefer fixed time/traditional dining for a variety of reasons, and have always been happy with it.
  4. To be precise, $11 dollars and under (and includes the gratuity).
  5. Uh Oh, I think we may have started another never-ending debate on proper attire; except this one if for afternoon tea as opposed to the MDR.. 😏
  6. That's not sad at all. The older ships are what we like about HAL. Don't need the bells and whistles..
  7. This is a summary of your recent very long post.. things change by the minute, so your post is totally irrevelant today
  8. I hear you.. I would be very upset if they did that to me.
  9. Did the story offer any insight as to the specific cause or causes of the staffing difficulties?
  10. What makes you think that 'everything should be back to normal'? And what do you mean by 'normal'?
  11. This does NOT sound like a fun cruise experience to me.. 😕
  12. Ding... ding... ding.. Winner, winner, big chicken dinner! 👆
  13. You're not missing anything. Our experience is that there is an adequate selection of good wines available in the basic SBP. In our opinion, those that complain about not having enough 'good' wine included in the SBP are likely self-described wine <clearing throat> 'enthusiasts'. 😆
  14. I do the same thing, so I guess we're both weird.. 😉
  15. We had two of those (prepared exactly like that) with no up charge in the MDR on our last Zuiderdam sailing (April '22). DW and I agreed that they were some of the best lobster tails we've ever had!
  16. Clever metaphor, but I'm curious as to how you requested your chops be cooked. 🤔
  17. We didn't use the VeriFly app on our recent cruise and had the same very easy, stress free experience at check-in.
  18. This post sums up the entire thread masterfully... thank you!
  19. Ours on the Zuiderdam (same class) also had an anti-slip mat for the floor of the tub.
  20. No, I think that complaints about food are inherently subjective, and therefore meaningless.
