  1. My pet peeve! Able-bodied people getting on the elevator to go down one flight of stairs. I actually try to take the stairs as much as possible to burn off all the "terrible" food I am eating on the cruise.
  2. I was just pricing out some third-party excursions in Icelandic Krona, so yes, I understand. 🙂
  3. It could be that you pay in American dollars and your bank (credit card company) will convert on your statement. If you need a conversion tool, here is one. https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=1&From=CAD&To=USD However, it may not be the exact rate that your bank gives you.
  4. Yeah, I bet if we saw the review, we could figure out why i didn't get posted. 😁
  5. I have seen negative reviews on Carnival excursions. I have even seen excursions that had nothing but negative reviews.
  6. Great point! I remember being in the airport with my son when he was a grade-schooler and TSA looked at his boarding pass and asked his name. He goes by a nickname that doesn't match the legal name on his boarding pass. Fortunately, he responded with his legal name. We were lucky because we had not talked about it ahead of time.
  7. I was mimosas and glasses of champagne on my most recent B2B2B, which was after the restart. The atrium bartender had them lined up for us both times after we got back from customs/immigration.
  8. I have been on a ton of Carnival cruises, and I don't ever remember my dessert being delayed more than a few minutes because of Showtime. And most of the time, it arrived beforehand. I am sure that if you specifically asked for your dessert to be served before the show, they could accommodate you.
  9. I didn't mean to imply anything. Most people live within a very short distance of a bank, and many don't know that you can get a document notarized there. I was just trying to be helpful. If it is at all practical, I would recommend getting the note notarized. It's one of those things that you don't need it until you need it.
  10. All banks have a notary, as well as currency exchanges. If the non-custodial parent works in a decent-sized office, there is a good chance that they have someone there who is a notary (ask in the accounting department). A few weeks is plenty of time to get something notarized.
  11. Also, in almost every case, that can be fixed by pouring a little water down the drains. That prevents the smelly air from drifting up from the sanitation tanks.
  12. I am guessing that is what they are trying to fix.
  13. Not exactly correct. Changes to VIFP, just like any other change a company would make, are done to maximize profit. That can be done by increases in revenue as well as decreases in expenses. If they think changes to the loyalty program will induce people will stay with or switch to Carnival, that increases revenue. There are plenty of things that Carnival can do to enhance the loyalty program that would cost them little or no additional money. For example, -guaranteeing a private table or booth in the MDR -priority seating in popular venues like the piano bar or the comedy club -one free photo per cruise
  14. Probably not too many. This is winter break for most students.
  15. It was the CEO of Carnival Corporation who spoke about raising prices. Princess and Carnival are the same Corporation.
  16. A particular travel agent has the 4-day Radiance sailing out of LA for around $100 for most of January and February. You sail midweek, though. Depending on who you talk to, though, it might be the worst ship in Carnival's fleet. 😉
  17. Another thing to keep in mind: You sailed on a half-full ship that even when full, has more public space per passenger than any other class of Carnival ship. Barring another pandemic or similar situation, you are NEVER going have that experience again, on Carnival or any other line. It's kind of a shame that this was your first cruise, because it spoiled you in comparison to a normal cruising experience.
  18. I would assume that the OP sailed around the same time I did. Why would he wait so long to go on his rant?
  19. I just got off the Radiance a week ago. It was my 20th Carnival cruise. My expectations were low because it was a short cruise to ports I had already visited, and I was actually pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I thought the decor was really nice. I never had to wait for a drink at any of the bars I visited. I did not visit the piano bar, but it is typically crowded no matter what ship I have been on, so wouldn't expect anything different on this one. The cruise director, Deon was great. His shows in the center atrium are not to be missed. My MDR dinners were good and nicely paced. I was able to easily get a seat at the comedy club. I was not a fan of the Playlist Production shows, however, although I have generally thought they are weak across the board on Carnival.
  20. 50 bucks says it's the fault of the owner of the haunted amusement park.
  21. Don't forget that this was the CEO speaking to shareholders. They always have to put the best spin on the current situation that they can, including how they hope to increase revenue.
  22. I have news for you: Carnival, as well as every other cruise line, has and always will sell their cabins for as much money as they think they can get for them, but it is always the goal to sail full. If there are empty cabins, they will lower the price. Once the ship leaves the home port, any chance to get revenue for that cabin is lost. That is not only the base fare, but drinks, shore excursions, specialty dining, etc. They can set any price they want for their cruises, but if people don't buy them, the price is going to go down.
  23. It's just like a hotel. If you are almost sold out, you jack up the prices of your few (or only) remaining rooms and hope someone is willing to pay for it. Nothing wrong with that; it's good business. On a Facebook page I follow, they recently posted a screen shot from Royal Caribbean for a 7-day cruise that all of the regular cabins were sold out, and if you wanted a suite, it was almost $19,000.
  24. Yowsa! I like Carnival a lot, but if I am going to pay for anything more expensive than a regular Carnival cabin, I am going to hop on one of the luxury brands. I only use my cabin to sleep, shower, and occasionally sit on the balcony (if we even have one).
  25. Or just choose a check-in time after 1:30. You will be able to go straight to your cabin and let those of us who don't mind boarding early with the masses do our own thing.
