I don't recommend cruisemapper.com as I had tried using it and they had wrong info for our cruise. The top is our itinerary and the bottom is what is showing on cruisemapper. They had wrong days for a couple of our ports and even had the wrong departure/return port - we are leaving out of Manhattan and they show Bayonne. I have a friend too that wants to know were you offered $250 for OBC or $250 certificates your choice?

Is this the menu for all smaller ships? We are going on the Gem and would the menu be the same? It's an 11 day cruise so would day 8 start at 1 and so on...?

Thank you very much for the heads up on this! I wonder why they don't just have a designated time set ahead of time since internet is so terrible on cruise ships. I'm not sure I would have given them another chance you are more forgiving than me I guess. 😉

I was where you are now a little while back and started this thread. There is a lot of great info and some debates over best airport to go to. We ended up going with LaGuardia mostly for price/schedule/convenience. There are some recommendations for hotels in Manhattan and looked at several of them but they were quite pricey and ended up going with Holiday Inn Times square as we are members with them and they were MUCH cheaper than others were. We have never been to NY before either and now that I have done more research it's less intimidating than before and now are looking forward to this adventure! Good luck and happy sails!

Can I ask where you go to look for what ships will be in port? I used to use Cruise TT but when I go there it looks like this and clicking does nothing.

Yes, I live in Spring Hill, FL and it's going to NYC.

A friend told me about Luggage Forward and we looked into it and have decided to try it out on our upcoming cruise. They will pick it up at our house and deliver to the ship and will pick it up from the ship and deliver to the house. I will say it isn't cheap but the fact that we won't have to deal with going to baggage to/from and DH won't have to lift it is a plus. Also, we don't have to pay for luggage on our flights so that take a bit of the sting out. They said it worked wonderfully for them and we're hoping it does for us as well.

That's what I thought but didn't know you could get a RX before you have it?

Omg... that sounds horrible and sorry you had to go through that. I hope I never have to go down to get tested but I will take as much as possible with me if I do. Did they have somebody pack up your things, passport and bring them down to you when you got off? I agree they should have a little pamphlet or something to tell you what will be happening.

So, which line will you try next? I hope they work out better for you so that you can continue cruising. If they are please come back here and tell us which line and why they are better.

Are you serious on this? We had an OS on the Dawn and they stocked it with diet coke cans. Of course that was a while back but when I talked to the pre-concierge I said I wanted diet coke in the can and she didn't say that wouldn't be possible. This will be a bit of a bummer as I can't drink fountain drinks as they give me migraines. I know some say that there is no difference but for me it is as I don't get them when drinking out of cans.

So, I have only been on the Breakaway with the proper haven experience as we like the smaller ships better. We will be on the Gem in March and I'm wondering if they will do any variations/addons in Cagney's or Maderno? I never thought to ask for anything other than what's on the menu but this one will be 11 days so it would be nice to spice it up now and then. What do you think? A possibility?

Oh, that would be wonderful, I always appreciate reviews of ones I am looking forward to. I hate to admit it but I have never written one in all the 15 cruises I have taken. I always say I will do one this time... Ok, next cruise I will. 😉

We will be on the Gem and I believe we will be fine from what I've seen that we will be docked in Taino Bay and PD beach is only about 15 minutes to get to. The PD beach looks awesome and looks like they have chairs/umbrellas but are those for rent or associated with a hotel and if so do they have day passes? I can't seem to find any information on this in the Ports of Call forum so thought I'd see if anyone here has any experience with this beach.
