  4. Definitely Ocean Blue, anything we had was delicious. Then Cagney's and of course steak but forget what kind I had - if they had a New York that would be my choice. I don't care for Le Bistro so I would go to Tepanyaki as they are always good even though the show needs to be updated. We go every cruise since we started cruising and it's been the same every time... even though it's still mildly entertaining... needs a refresh. 😴
  5. Seriously - you rent a recliner on a ship? How does that work? Do they deliver to your suite? Who do you rent them from and what's the cost? I would love to have one but doubt it would be in the budget but I can only hope.
  6. We have been on 15 cruises and all but one on NCL. We have been on the Pearl 6 times and the Jewel twice and they are sister ships so pretty much the same. They are both beautiful and fun ships. What type of cabin(s) are you in? The $50 excursion isn't really a gimmick but just a little something extra along with other "free" offers included. On all of the cruises we've taken we have rarely used the ship excursions (maybe 3 or 4 at most) and prefer to find our own even on our first cruise. Just go to the Ports of call forum on CC and research the ports to see what excursions are recommended. It's not always cheaper on your own but we like them as they are usually less crowded or we get to spend more time at the beach, or exploring than an NCL excursion. Personally I wouldn't just take a cab to where you are going unless you have researched and know exactly what time you will need to leave in order to be back on time. We generally book and excursion with a company recommended where transportation is included but have occasionally taken a cab. Welcome to what will most likely be a new addiction which you won't want to be cured of.
  7. How close are you and the family member and do you get along well and would really miss having them around? If you would and they can't afford it would you consider splitting the extra cost so that they could? There are some family members I would and some not so much. 🤭

  10. We have never sailed out of NYC but are going to sail out in March and we have a few issues so as much info you can give is greatly appreciated. I am mobility challenged and hubby is for the most part blind so could you let us know the following: We are going to get a taxi or uber and I assume they will know where to drop us off but once they do where do we go? Some ports are great at pointing us to the Haven line up but some we had difficulties finding it. So, once we get dropped do we go through security and then find the Haven check-in? Is it clearly marked or have people directing where to go?

  15. Call them and see what they can do for you. If you don't get a good enough price call back and back... I normally get comped an inside and when I called they said they couldn't because even though I bet more than normal the previous cruise I was trying to book a longer cruise and also pay for an upgrade to a suite (which I always do). Anyway he told me that he couldn't do anything, I called back a couple weeks later and talked to another guy and he said basically the same thing. I called a couple days ago on final payment date and asked if she could at least give me some OBC. She came back and said that they had to manually put it in and I would get an email and there would be a reduction. Since she couldn't tell me what it would be I thought it wasn't going to be much but that's better than nothing I figured. When the email finally came through it cut 1/2 of the cost of my cruise! Needless to say I was extremely happy with her and tried to get her when I called back to make the final payment but I couldn't get her as I only had her first name. I told him that I wanted to thank her personally and he said well that anyone there would have given me the same price. I said nothing... no point in arguing what I know is not true. Anyway, the point is keep calling back until you get someone who gives you a price you like... (of course, being closer to final payment date or after would most likely help). Good luck!
  16. UPDATE - UNBELIEVABLE!! I decided that I didn't want to chance it losing my suite so I called CAS. They had said before that they couldn't give me my usual comp of an inside cabin even though I had gambled significantly more because of... blah, blah, blah. So this time I asked them if I could at least get some OBC or something. I got voicemail for the guy I booked with and left him a message and almost 2 hours later I decided to call and try and get someone else. She did say that they could give me a price reduction but they had to manually put it in so the email would take a while and she couldn't tell me what the discount would be but she said that it was the same cabin number. It took quite a while and I was starting to get nervous as until I see something I'm always worried that something went wrong and the cabin was change or, etc... I got - - - - - - - (not sure of I can say a name) and she rocks! Not only did I get a discount it was HUGE! It was more than half off!🤑 Still doing the happy dance in my chair while trying to type this and keep looking at the confirmation to make sure it's not a dream!😁😁
  17. So are you saying call and cancel? If so, how long was it before the price dropped?
  18. Final payment is today and I'm considering canceling because there are several suites in my category and think it will probably go down. Do they normally drop right after or is it a week or so? I used to keep up on these things but with Covid and other health issues I haven't been and my memory ain't what it used to be. Yes, I know I could lose but we're retired so I could just go another time.

  21. lol... Whenever I tell anyone where I'm from they have never heard of it so I just tell them it's NW of Tampa. Of course I hadn't heard of it before we visited it just before the pandemic and loved it so much we moved here a year and a half ago. I do like this class of ship with the Pearl being our favorite so far (will be had to sway us otherwise as we have been on her 6 times). We have been on Breakaway and that was good in some ways and meh in others.

  23. Believe me it was never going to be an option as I would be completely intimidated. Although, I know it is crazy driving there I really don't think it was nearly as crazy as getting around in Tehran for 3 years as those drivers are completely devoneh! (Crazy in Farsi)
