  1. Years ago my Wife always said wasn't how much she spent, it's how much you saved. She was a card
  2. True, but most don't. "Baby Boomers have the second highest debt level among all adult generations carrying an average credit card balance of $6,747 and $25,812 in total non mortgage debt, behind only Gen X"
  3. Yes, even what I paid for week at Orlando 5+ yrs ago was more then week on Star. Cost at Disney World now is double and I wouldnt pay for week on either today. People forget even when Royal started rolling out Mega Ships prices were way higher then the existing Ships. Then add to that demand is near record level there is no way there was ever going to be a deal to be had here
  4. Helps with Smoke/smell but it still isn't allowed onboard. Saw Drug Dog on Royal Ship a couple times, have even seen passengers removed in Miami wearing Handcuffs but nothing recent.
  5. On 2 Cruises the Cabin next to me were smoking Cigarettes, 3rd one it was Pot. All 3 caught after my Call's. At least 2 were charged the Cabin Cleaning Fine, was told 3rd one was also but can't confirm it. I received $$$ in FCC for 2 of them. Couple months ago a Passenger was walking around the Ship into Centrum Vaping, Crew stopped him
  6. Should been done long before now, they started replacing them before late August. Enjoy!
  7. Yes the new Mattresses on Serenade are softer then once they replace but still on the Firm side. Me I like say 4 out of 5 for Firm and could live with the really Firm ones they had couple yrs ago. They are Thicker/Taller compared to standard thin ones Serenade always had in the past and was first thing I noticed when I walked in the Cabin
  8. Have to bring your own...or Royal will Rent them to you, Deluxe Bedding Package 😁
  9. Thanks, will mention this to my Son in Law for his CPAP, he's Hooked and starting Cruise as much as me. This will be handy
  10. Booked a couple Cruises where Guarantee was $500 more then a Balcony. Best one was a 2Bd/2BA for cheaper then a Balcony. Last week was looking at a Panama Canal Cruise and the Refundable Rate was $2500 more! That's Royal IT for you
  11. Agree, in past it has happened and talked about on here. One I remember the Passengers were last minute and had a Guarantee unassigned Cabin. This one happened couple yrs before Covid Shutdown
  12. Thanks, was on Serenade in Sept/Oct 2022 inc Panama Canal and Sept 2023 inc the Repo. She was little roughed up after going threw the Canal and they Painted all lower sections near water soon as we got to Florida
  13. Was a Site I had bookmarked(but lost) that listed when each Ships had last Dry Dock, as she hit 20 this yr couldn't have been too long ago for Serenade. But as said previous most Maint on the Ship is done while she is in service not the usual really short Marine Side Dry Docks these Ships do.
  14. Yup, more common then people realize. Had 6 Medical Emergencies on just one Cruise last year. Left late to start Cruise as Passenger was taken away in Ambulance, then speed up to one Port, turn around and drop another off with Pilot Boat. Have had at least 4 Helo pick ups alone, that I can remember in last 25yrs
  15. Wow! Less then 2 months ago none of this showing, maybe Ships should be rust color instead of White. Think going threw the Canal does some of this
  16. They had also took worn Sheers off my Cabin in Sept, not replacing them following 2 legs my B4B. Being Aft/Corner Cabin I had lot Sunlight, sucked having nothing or Blackout as only choice Now showing Age, who remembers when it was $29, $49, $89..think last I saw here yrs ago was running $189.
  17. Until you mentioned that had forgot they were grinding off some Ship Rust in Sept, this at both times Serenade was at Coco Cay. Was in Aft outside Wind Jammer Area. Traveling Solo, was really hot/humid there with no Breeze so had no desire get off. One these days Electric/internet/air con went off for few min as they fired up the emergency generators, sure it was a test.. Name fit Generated a Ton of smoke up flowing up the Aft Balcony's. Serenade did this another day in Sept firing up Gen's. Second time I knew not open my Balcony Door to look
  18. Also Santa is usually on Ship multiple Cruises before Xmas
  19. Almost every year Radiance Class Ship's after coming back from Europe would do Canada Cruises from Boston then Repo to Florida. I'd do B4B Oct/Nov/Dec and in Nov after it got to Florida Royal would then do all Annual Maintenance inc making Ship white Painting over all the Rust. An "Earl Scheib" Job
  20. Did lot so far what I've seen. For cost taking it out service for Month, lot of $$$$$$$ lost. They have had couple dozen Contractors on there for at least 2 Months. Replaced all Mattresses, linen, pillows, Cooler/Fridges, rewired Internet and extra plugs in cabins. Installed self serve Laundry. Have to remember even when Ship does usual Marne Side Dry Dock most upkeep is done while Ship is back in Service. 2 Ships I was on AFTER their Dry Dock for 6 weeks they were repainting everything white, removing-sanding-staining all the Railings on open decks and Balcony Cabins. That was weird though, on my B2B's one week my balcony railing is gone, next its back on. After one Dry Dock they'd replace all the balcony Chairs on one Deck, do next Deck following turn around day. After one of Serenades DD they did same with Mattresses, each week replaced bunch old with new. These new mattresses they replaced are lot thicker then ones they use to have
  21. Agree. Where I'm at we had 56days above 110 degress this Summer but in Cartagena Hot AND Humid , Wow! On the Radiance PC Cruise last month we did the the Air Conditioned Bus Tour last month and when we had 2hrs walk around we ate Lunch inside.
  22. Watched them 3 times in last yr going threw Canal, they got to keep up constantly on applying/releasing tension on those lines, Then they wear out
  23. Doubt most ever read all of the Cruise Contract or know legally protections there are...
  24. Ships had bank of Cabins for CV Quarantine, was watching Royal remove walls replacing/removing items on 2 of their Ships few months ago. Probably should have left them but lot money lost with 20+ empty cabins every Cruise just in case they are needed... Do we have any proof anyone was left at Pier or even showed up waiting was uncompensated, one we heard from was happy with what they received. That said all this is second, 3rd and even 4th hand what we read... Also as I stated and am first to admit Royal was always been inconsistent in Compensation. Some like the one in Story sounds like it ended well. My experience with multiple situations onboard, Royal gave me new Cabin twice and was well compensated 4 times. This all in last 4yrs. Others might not been so lucky
