  1. Thank you sfred for your bon voyage and the nice overhead shot of Port Vell where cruise ships dock. There was recent news talking of how Barcelona was reducing some docks in the Nord Barcelona area. This reduction is not regarding Port Vell. I will try to get some shots along the way. Here is one from the Palacruceros terminal of the front of QE thru the paned windows. I just am not tall enough to catch a better glimpse of her name or other better features.
  2. Thank you for taking us along on your trip as I have enjoyed my morning routine starting with your blog and a cup of coffee.
  3. The closing of that Walmart does not surprise me as when we went there last year, it was looking very tired and disorganized. We went to the Longs on a previous cruise but found it to be more expensive, but still a good place to check out.
  4. Hi, we were docked near the Aloha Tower (which is interesting to walk around) and you can walk towards a Walmart (a smaller one)located at the corner of King and Fort St., for provisions and that is about a 10-20 minute walk at a leisurely pace. We went there but there is a much better one near the Ala Moana Mall. You can also walk to the Ala Moana Center which takes about 20-30 minutes and has lots of shops, restaurants, etc. There is another larger Walmart near there as well. That is also the location for a lot of bus stops. You can continue on from there to walk to Waikiki if you like to do a lot of walking and there is quite a bit to see along the way, or you can take a bus. It was really hot when we were there so if you choose to walk remember sunscreen, hat and to bring some water. I think there is also a bus stop right near where the ship docks so you could take a bus to the Ala Moana Center and walk to Waikiki from there to reduce some of the walking. There is also a lot of info on Honolulu on the PORTS OF CALL section.
  5. I had friends that did just that, spoke to the steward and request granted.
  6. I have been enjoying your blog from Carnival to Cunard and it has been great to follow your travels! One quick question. We will be heading to Barcelona soon and wondered which Barcelona offline maps app you downloaded as we think that is a great idea! Thank you in advance!

  8. I always think of him and wonder how he is and wish we could hear from him.
  9. I tried refreshing and nothing happened, but just now when I went back it was ok. Thank you!
  10. I just came back and thought I had missed sailaway, but see there has been a schedule change. Good I can still watch. My screen is having the rotating circle continuously though, any suggestions?
  11. Thanks sfred, victoria2 and pushpit! All valud points and I value you all. Thanks again.
  12. Thank you so much John! That is just the thing I needed to hear as I am not good on geographical on historical information. That is some experience you offer with you being on QE before the Ukraine war! Thank you again! I really appreciate you taking the time to help me! 🙂
  13. Hi everyone! I just thought I would share our worry about our upcoming cruise on QE Barcelona to Melbourne October 30. I am a worrier and try to try to think ahead a bit. I hope you will bear with me while I try to make some sense of the situation. We are due to begin the cruise in Barcelona, then on to Crete, then the Suez Canal to Egypt. We are getting increasingly nervous about the current events in the world and hoping that things settle, but don't feel too confident. We have not heard anything from Cunard, but I don't expect to at this point. This started us thinking about possible scenarios. We know that QE is working her way to Australia for the Australian season so we've been looking at the wall map and trying to think of possible ideas. I sure hope they don't cancel outright, which I kind doubt they would do. Maybe shorter jaunts around the Western Med, maybe Lisbon, Canary Islands down around the southern coast of Africa and then over to Australia; what do you think? I am trying to prepare myself and hubby for alternatives just in case. Does anyone have experience in these areas of travel or would you be willing to share some ideas? We would just be happy to be on the ship (QE) for travel back home so that is something at least because it has been 4 years since we were last on Cunard and are missing it a lot. Thank you so much for listening and any advice!
  14. Thank you Roy for taking us along and sharing your experiences! Have a great time on the Crystal ship and will have to check out the Crystal boards.
  15. This is always a good reminder especially in this day and time! We used to be able to go one day ahead but with our next cruise we are going a week ahead so we can see Barcelona pre-cruise and just be more relaxed without the worry of flights, missed connections, etc
  16. I am glad to read that the Sailaway Season from Port Everglades is finally near! The timing works for me and I can see the familiar sites 😉
  17. Great thinking to get it in writing that the drinks package is included!
  18. Thank you for your blog and I hope you feel better soon!
  19. Glad I got to see this as I miss most of the sail-ins because I am usually at work by now. Thanks! What is BHB?
