I have seen people turned away from the Helipad for wearing the "wrong" footwear. Zitsky the helipad you are supposed to wear closed toe footwear - preempting your question🙂

Your correct, when you get invited to the helipad they tell you to wear  certain type of footwear, I think nothing open toed.

I have seen that Celebrity Beyond has AquaClass Sky Suite, category TS.

Yes, Beyond is the only ship right now that will have Aqua Class Suites. They are not on the Edge

I understand your point but the logic is a bit flawed.  A specialty restaurant that is supposed to have better food, service and ambiance has a more casual dress code than the main dining room? That's the only point I'm trying to make.

I understand your point and in a way it doesn’t make sense like you said, I’m just saying that’s why they have always been casual .

But you are still missing the point.   When Specialties were first started and even to this day they want to get people into the restaurants to PAY  for the dining there.   Its a money maker plain and simple and causing people to bring fancy clothes will hinder that purpose.

Was it the type that was loud but kept to themselves or were kids running around tables willy nilly?

Running around not only in the dining rooms but they were evident around the ship and the parents were no better.

Seems one of your table mates was a bit more put off!

"We did have a table of 6 near us with 5 young people and an adult man who all dressed like they were going to the pool.  You saw ball caps and tank tops, etc. and the 2 girls dressed a bit slutty.  I must admit it brought down the atmosphere a bit, especially since they were loud.  They really stood out to the rest of the room."

Sometimes you get VIPs who are in high end suites and think they can get away with anything. We saw that happen on a cruise with a large family and the kids were awful.  We were told the family had mucho stock and staff basically left them along. It’s a shame but I guess a fact of life.

Our Big Box TA has given us a $50 dining credit.   We've booked many cruises through them and this is the first time we've received a dining credit.

I asked them if the credit had to be used for dining and was told that was what the credit was identified as but to go to Guest Services and ask if it can be transferred over to an OBC to be used on something else.

Has anyone had a dining credit (not from Celebrity) and been able to have it transferred to OBC?

This is for the Reflection in November.

It will probably be put on your account to use as you wish.

Our last pre covid cruise was January 2020 and we had dinner with the Captain and a few Senior Staff Officers.  it was not at a table in the MDR as it once was, it was in a Specialty restaurant.

Yes, we had a Royal suite and had lunch with the Senior officers in Tuscan. This was in summer of 19.

The Summit is doing short, 4 or 5 day sailings out of Miami.  There were only ~275 pax per cruise on the B2B and a surprising number of those pax were first time cruisers.  The majority of people in Luminae were dressed appropriately but there were folks who didn't get the memo, or didn't care.  I think enforcement of the shorts, lettered tees, caps, and flip flops was lax because they didn't want to alienate the few pax they had.  As I said, I was disappointed in the appearance of some of the people dining in Luminae, but once they sat down, I no longer noticed.  It certainly didn't have any impact on my enjoyment.  The menu is a different story; after several short Summit cruises, the Luminae menu repetition is getting old so next week I'll be ordering exclusively from Blu and MDR.  Heck, I might even go up to Oceanview - they aren't busy and they always chat with a solo pax.  Luminae is usually slammed.

Ocean view at dinner can be a nice surprise, no crowds and good variety of food. We do it at least once per cruise. Check out the grill area.

You say you can wear pretty much whatever you want, but you also say people in shorts are turned away.  So which of your statements is correct?

Both and they are not contradictory. That’s why I didn’t say everything.

After Ruth's report on Summit of "Short shorts and rubber flip flops.  Oh, and lettered tees and a baseball cap." in Luminae for dinner, I'd say they've given up entirely on all of it.  Spineless.

Problem with that is you can go back on this board and Facebook and find many reports of people being turned away from dining rooms for  wearing shorts and comments that people are happy that the dress code is being enforced.   Remember also, its human nature for people to see what they want to see.

The beauty of Celebrity's dress code is that you can wear pretty much whatever you want from Tuxes on down.  Since they changed it a few years ago there some who just can't accept wheat they have done and unfortuntunately have criticized others for what they wear even though they are complying with the rules.  This works both ways.

I didn't mean CDC policy, I meant the ship's COVID protocols, I was wondering if possibly the ship had a more relaxed attire policy about chic nights for whatever reason.  By "very few dressed up at night", I meant I saw only a few people really dressed up on chic night the second one. By a few, I meant maybe twenty percent. I recall past cruises when nearly everyone I saw was dressed up for chic nights or the long past formal nights in days of yore. So, in short, the clothing choices on this Equinox cruise were decidedly more casual throughout most of the ship than have experienced in the past for whatever reason passengers made those choices. I am NOT second-guessing their choices.

Evening Chic only applies to the MDR, no where else on the ship except Theater but that hasn’t been enforced in years.

Problem is Celebrity wants seats filled in Specialty restaurants and making people dress up is not a good way to do that. I would certainly not bring dressier clothes just to eat in a specialty

I've been on a lot of cruises, including on X and usually on a 7 night cruise Formal nights are 2 and 6, which are usually sea days. We are booked on the Beyond and 2 and 6 are port days. Does anyone know how Celebrity handles that?

Celebrity very often holds Evening Chic nights on port days. Usually on 7 day it is as stated 2 and 6 but that may depend on hours.  Just an FYI, don’t know where you are eating but Evening Chic applies only to the MDR, not Luminae, Blu or the Specialties

Yes, and to be honest, we like it this way. 😊

We don’t feel the need for anyone to escort us, the staff have so many things to do on embarkation day. But it is a nice touch for those who wish to take advantage of the service, and those who are first time cruisers with X.

Agree, best part is being able to get rid of the carry ons.

This will be the first time we are cruising on the Celebrity Edge Retreat.  We are in a Sky Suite.  We have sailed in the NCL Havens numerous times.  This will be our chance to compare Celebrity's Retreat vs NCL Haven experience.  We are curious about how Celebrity boards the Retreat guests?

By comparison, NCL sends all of their butlers, aka Retreat Hosts, to the Haven Lounge in the terminal and escorts all the Haven guests in dedicated elevators to the Haven Lounge.  They are then greeted by the Haven Concierges where they are given a quick brieifing about the services offered, met by the bar staff with drinks and welcome aboard food.  This is all done prior to the Haven Restaurant opening for lunch.

Our check in time is 11 and plan to be there by 10:30 am and waiting to get checked in.  We expect to be on the ship shortly after that but are curious how Celebrity boards their Retreat guests on the Celebrity Edge.  Thanks.  Looking forward to sailing on the Edge.

On Celebrity you would go directly to your room upon boarding where you can drop off your carry ons and pick up your sign and sail cards.

    Yes, ambiguity for sure. 😇

Another ambiguity that has caused problems for years and many threads has to do with Blu. They write on the web site that if you have an AQ cabin that you have access to Blu. They don’t say the truth, if you book AQ, Blu is your assigned dining room, you do not have a seat in the MDR.
