  2. Nope. I use the ship boarding tag, same as checked bags - just for boarding. My DW recently purchased a few of the Apple tags. A different ballgame.
  3. Good deal. I ordered a different brand @ $5 for 6 (it was $5.07 for 4). Sized for Norwegian. Also picked up a few magnetic hooks. They will be here tonight. Good old Amazon.
  4. As the tags for debark are ship provided, I'll guess they don't fit well in the holders anyway. My practice has been to tag the bags at my hotel so they are ready to go out of the cab. For our last sailing, pre-covid, we drove to the pier, so we tagged at home. I've also been tagging my carry on (aside from a standard ID tag) just in case it should go astray between boarding and cabin availability.

  6. I am the OP. 🤨 Is that your sneaky way of telling me that the porters do the tagging? I know they have to be coded based on your departure schedule, so they need to be re-tagged.
  7. After debarkation? Of course not. Who tags the bags for the night time pickup? Are they giving them to the passengers or are the porters tagging them per a schedule?

  9. Does NCL mail luggage tags pre-cruise or not? I know you can print them at home; most comments on this board indicate that's what folks are doing. I was considering purchasing tag protectors (a small investment) for home printed ones - not really necessary if they send you the heavy duty paper, self gluing type. Some purchaser comments, including earlier this year, mentioned that they received tags in the mail. I used the self printed type on my last few cruises. Not really a problem other than scrounging for a stapler or tape to secure them. I'm also guessing that protectors are useless for disembarkation. Comments appreciated.
  10. A "SALE" may not always be a sale - at least the one you might hope for. But, most likely, what you are observing is the result of cruise ships filling up - and the lines jacking up their prices to match the market activity.
  11. I believe you. I'm just saying that NCL is going to get a piece of the action - most likely from Cellular at Sea. Merely a curiosity for me. not important.

  13. So, no doubt AT&T pays NCL for this service. Call it what they will, they must be using ship internet to connect, just not requiring separate fee for it.
  14. I avoid cabins near elevator banks like the plague - right or wrong. Mostly due to the foot traffic likely to be nearby. I prefer at least a couple of rooms down the hall at a minimum. Also, there often is a stairway adjacent as well - another worry for same reason. I sailed on the Jewel way back, but I don't recall the layouts near the elevators. On some ships, the elevator banks are more enclosed than others, helping to contain the "problems".
  15. Interesting. Are these packages cruise line specific? Does AT&T pay a fee to the cruise line? I can't believe they let you uplink without a fee. You mention that you don't need ship Wifi - but you are connecting through the ship's systems.

  18. I would call NCL. They will find out eventually no matter what. Do you really want them to be searching for your wife? Or trying to contact her? There will be no refund. And, to add insult to injury, they may upcharge you for a single.(I've seen that on these boards).
  19. On just one point: There ain't no cell towers out in the ocean. - so no, not like on land. Everything needs to upload through the internet (some ship have Starlink, others don't as yet). Paying AT&T for service is one thing - you still have to pay for the ship to connect to it. I'll leave that part to others more familiar with that process.
  20. Potato, potahto... A matter of opinion. Technically not tips in the traditional sense. However, remember that the genesis of the DSC is derived from the old tipping system for MDR waiters, bussers & room stewards. The DSC covers those plus some other crew positions; then is distributed in part directly to the crew (a tip in my opinion) and in part through other forms of benefits.
  21. There's a recent post on here where they did an upgrade (not by bidding) and the rep messed up and dropped their FAS selections. They are fighting with NCL to get it restored. Moral of the story - check your new documentation to verify it's all in order.
  22. I encountered a problem uploading a photo from my iphone. This was not cruise related, but a government agency in New Orleans. My conclusion was that even though the file was tagged as a JPEG (an acceptable form) (uploaded to my PC from my phone) it would not load; somehow the automatic conversion from Apple's format was not quite on point. I took a camera photo of the pic off my computer screen, uploaded that with no issues.
  23. Fortunately, eastern Med is not on my list of wants. Been to most ports there, except some of the Greek islands Northern Europe, though, is still of interest.
