  1. Where do I start? As far as I'm concerned, if you deplane and board a different aircraft, it's no different than a connecting flight. If you reboard the same craft, with the same flight #, I'm torn on the definition. I don't know if direct flights exist today where the passenger remains on board. I can tell you that I was on such a flight, a long time ago, where we did. I flew from NYC to Kentucky; we stopped in Pittsburgh; continuing passengers stayed on board. The far east flight I mentioned earlier - best that i can recall we stayed on board in Tokyo. Come to think of it, during same trip, we stopped in Taiwan enroute to Hong Kong - again, continuing passengers stayed on board. As for flight #'s, here's a brain twister: Delta has (or used to have) a morning flight from NY to Austin. The same plane then returns to NY that afternoon. Both legs have the exact same flight # - in both directions. I have flown both (on different days). I can't imagine why two flights, going in opposite directions, carry the same #.
  2. Businesses often use the term "business days" as opposed to days. Was this so in your situation? I know it would not account for all of the delay you have incurred, but it would partially account for it.
  3. Hmmm... Well, this CPA says that your financial analysis holds water, paying full freight steakhouse prices, or nearly so, for a meal does not represent good value for your purchase when it is still an upgrade experience. And, if you know the history, it used to be a semi-reasonable flat price upgrade. The lines kept jacking up the pricing...but this a la carte business is over the top. Yes, packages do bring the cost down - if you want to purchase multiple dinner upgrades,
  4. Hopefully, luggage is the worst thing they let slip overboard.
  5. True enough. However, IMHO, the passenger is actually paying to upgrade their dining experience (against a meal already covered by the cruise fare). Therefore, your actual cost for the meal is much higher than the specialty add on fee or fees.
  6. Thanks for that correction. I was writing from memory.
  7. You seem to be somehow offended. So, please allow me to clarify. I absolutely noticed your nationality when I responded. You had made a blanket statement in response to another poster that boarding without a passport was not possible - it made no mention that you referred to your own family or other Canadian citizens. That's why i pointed out that this did not necessarily apply to all others viewing this thread. As to your second critique, I specifically mentioned flying domestically - therefore your comment on that aspect does not apply. Your last sentence is, of course, 100% accurate - but not scenarios that I was referring to.
  8. While i do agree that Cruise Plum is a great tool - that I just learned about a few days ago on this board; and it might be the most efficient method, I found my price reductions by simply doing a mock booking, as I have done for many years. I think that this method works most effectively when tracking one cruise and even one cabin category. But the Plum is now on my radar.
  9. My phrasing was meant to imply towards US citizens.
  10. Have you noticed that in the famous T&C's it references a limit of 1 entre in Cagney's? That's the only reference there about specialty dining. No other venues, no other courses. Seems odd.
  11. Are you forgetting about the free meals? And free entertainment? And free cabin cleaning (daily!)?
  12. Can't speak about the one you are checking, but my Club Balcony has been price dropped at least twice. I originally booked in early July. Later that month it dropped by $600. It recently dropped again, but at this late stage the comp is against my booking which includes a vet's discount, so there is almost no benefit to me - but would be a substantial drop if I did not have that discount and I would score a FCC for several hundred dollars.
  13. Not true if they are flying domestically in the US. Other docs can be used instead of a passport.
  14. Publishing, or advertising, quotes without including mandatory taxes and fees is deceptive. At a minimum, there should be a prominent note advising of the exclusion. In other businesses, things are changing. Such as hotels now being priced at the all-in cost.
  15. Cool - then you must have learned something. ☺️
  16. Update to my original post: Checked the BF deal out with my TA last Wednesday. Sure enough, there was a price reduction. I was offered a FCC for $20 !! Whoopee. The price comparisons were for identical cabin categories. I will note that my booking includes a several hundred dollar vet's discount. Without that, there probably would have been a savings, whether a "sale" or just a price reduction.
  17. They don't do reservations for comedy shows, just a couple of the major productions in the main theater. I can't speak about the karts. I'll know more in 6 weeks, on the Bliss.
  18. I agree conceptually with how you feel about the break. A couple of issues do arise. First, for me, it depends on how long the legs are. They may not be very long. In fact, I think they are likely to be of short to moderate length (although, many years ago, I was on a flight that went from Jong Kong to Tokyo to Seattle to New York - and I was on for the whole ride; we did have to deplane in Seattle to go through customs; I don't know if any airlines still do beasts like that). Further, you do increase the chance for luggage going astray (if you're checking). Lastly, if someone has mobility issues (like my DW), they would vote to stay put (and some of those transfers can be crazy, with gates in distant other parts of the airport.
  19. Perhaps not. But, there will likely be less ANNOYING people on board. Bless their little hearts.
  20. Many folks seem to misuse the term. But, yes, they exist - sort of. Some scheduled trips continue on to one or more additional stops after the first. Southwest, for example. So, if you happen to want to go to that second stop, you don't need to transfer to a different flight - and, magic - you've scored a direct flight to your destination.
  21. Gutsy move. I would never chance it. I've done day of flights. Arrival late morning with a late PM sailing - and not in winter. A delay of a few hours is so common these days. Interesting, though, that NCL assigned the same arrival time through their air program. If anyone on your sailing received the same schedule, that may help to protect you. Good luck!
  22. Are you supposed to get 20% off of the base list price as opposed to 20% off of whatever the current discounted fare (fares are always discounted) is? If it's the former, the current pricing may already be reduced by 20% or more.
