  1. This post is SO far off the mark that I have to suspect a troll…
  2. BUT, Viking reserves the right to test you if display, or report, significant COVID symptoms. Think of your recovery letter as a Get Out Of Jail Free card!! 😷
  3. Viking is trying very hard to have leisurely walker groups that are dropped off nearer to the center of town, walk slowly with frequent rests, and avoid steps and severe changes in elevation. We have a fellow in our group with a walker and he’s participating in most excursions.
  4. Margarine ( on river) is Becel Pro Activ vegan.
  5. I remember that one! That was a classic.
  6. Our waiter advises margarine IS available. Will check in the morning. Once again, Viking phone reps don’t seem to have a clue.
  7. Sorry, it wasn’t meant to be snarky, but usually you need to trust primary sources, like CDC, country websites, etc, rather than waiting for Viking to eventually update their website. They’re so busy handling rapid changes that daily adjustments take a back seat to updating MVJ.
  8. MVJ is NEVER up to date, so I don’t know why so many people wring their hands over the clearly out of date info on there. Guess some people just have to see it on the V8king site to be comfortable.
  9. I’ll tell you one discussion that is forever dead - dress for dinner. If Viking doesn’t enforce their own dress code, all bets are off and anything goes. Win for “I paid good money for this cruise and I’ll dress however I like.” Viking continues to move to a middle market carrier as it struggles to fill it’s ships.
  10. Blue glasses are not branded on the bottom. Try Tellus@vikingcruises.com.
  11. But rafting is not always with ships from the same cruise line, so it is an ongoing issue. Our last rafting had Viking folks climbing to thevtop deck to cross over, and the elevator on Viking longboats does not go up to the sun deck.
  12. How?? The crew does reserve the right to test pax showing obvious COVID symptoms, but don’t expect folks to line up voluntarily for testing!
  13. Viking website is always way behind reality.
  14. More detail on above. https://thewhiskeywash.com/whiskey-styles/american-whiskey/jack-daniels-bourbon-definitive-answer/
  15. I suspect no one will report COVID symptoms anymore, since they can now return to the US even if they are positive. Viking River is testing less frequently now, as they are filling their quarantine hotel spaces due to daily testing identifying so many positive cases. Budapest and Vienna hotels were full.
  16. Judging from the number of views of this thread, Gary has achieved exactly the result he was seeking by posting a controversial review. Why do we continue to believe that his individual opinion is any more important than yours or mine, just because he considers himself to be a “social influencer”.
  17. Last Rhine trip in November, Cologne was so crowded that we docked at Deutz across the river from the city. And for our excursion they made us walk over the LONG bridge to get to the start of our downtown walking tour.
  18. Viking transfers are priced for bulk transfers by bus on embarkation day, not customized Mercedes car service two days before that. While Viking provides great customer service, even they have economic limits of how far they can go.
  19. Same impact on the individual customer - screwed in the name of higher profit.
  20. Currently on Viking. Just left Budapest. We were rafted with 2 other Viking ships, and I believe there were 4 other Viking ships in the area. Rafting is now a certainty in the large cities. I remember when Viking would promote that they had they’re own docks. Not an advantage now with rafting.
  21. We bring two prong European to US adapters so we can also use the European electrical outlets in the cabin when plugging in multiple devices.
  22. If you had a positive PCR test more than 10 days before boarding, you can get a “recovery letter” from your doctor that Viking will accept. In effect, it says you are no longer contagious even though you currently test positive on a PCR, since positive results can show for months after recovery. Our adult daughter was in that situation and is cruising with us now.
  23. I believe they just changed the wording to first international flight from first flight. We have been getting a rapid PCR test, because: 1. You have 72 hours prior to schedule the test 2. Laboratory antigen tests are getting much harder to find, since everyone now has free antigen tests from the government, and 3. Since we’re old, we don’t want to deal with the log-on requirements of a proctored antigen test. YMMV.
