    Indian Visa

    Not sure if link is current. If one clicks on the link for e-visa at the URL , UK as a nationality is not available as a selection.

    Well..i think if you don't have the required Visa they can deny boarding so having your passport withoutz the visa may not help. In the Terms and Conditons of Silversea - it mentions that it is the guest reaponsibility to obtain visas and other required documents. You should probably fill out the online forms and book an inperson drop off asap. Sorry to read of this issue for you, but I think you have enough time. When you drop off your documents, please go on a charm offensive to the clerk.

    The Indian consulate's website has detailed instructions for visas. It says 30-45 days proecessing time + delivery time. My experience in Vancouver was thar it was quicker. I think if you drop it off and see about pickup that might help with your timelines and you might be able to get expedited pricessing but that needs to be booked ahead of time. Please make sure you follow instructions precisely. Sounds like the TA dropped the ball on this one. Good luck.
  4. I like the transparency by the ship. It helps one assess their comfort and precautions. Thanks for sharing.
  5. Do they have different Covid policies for charging for Covid medical related expenses depending on region? I am confused, but glad while ill you were taken care of.
  6. So sorry to read about your ordeal - lack of communications and next steps is unsettling for a time that was supposed to a wonderful holiday. Take care and let us know how you fare.
  7. If you order from any public telephone on the ship, they will bring you coffee to wherever you are ;-). I did this alot as my better half likes sleeping in and I didn't want to disturb them by ordering in-room service.
  8. I bought Manulife Cancel For Any Reason from my TA. Only covers 50% and needs to be claimed 14 days prior to travel. This was included in the 'regular' no covid coverage while travelling policy.
  9. Its layered coverage that one might consider- a few policies = more $ for insurance companies in Canada. Manulife sells regular trip/cancellation which would cover in event one or a companion gets Covid before travelling or non-Covid trip interruption/cancellation. There is no coverage after trip starts for Covid related claims. They also sell a Covid policy which covers trip interruption due to Covid - quarantine and medical care.. I have medical coverage through work so I am covered for medical expenses like drugs, doctors and hospitalization, but not for quarantine or getting home after feeling better. Best to read policies and call insurer with questions.
  10. In Canada, Manulife sells trip interuption that includes Covid. Other cruiselines - Silversea for example - say that if one cruises before end of March and one gets Covid, one can get FCC or refund. As well, if they cancel the cruise one can get a refund. What I like is their refund/FCC policies don't change based on Company policies and are based on the policy in effect for the dates when one travels when one books. For me, makes more sense.
  11. Yeah..that is how I roll. I wasn't impressed with the policy change...maybe I am petty.
  12. My TA told me today that after Alaska, Muse is going to be docked until December 2nd - Singapore to Australia cruise. They plan on keeping crew onboard as its troublesome to retain talent if contracts are terminated early. Logistically with world circumstances its too difficult to plan itineries on short timelines. Hope info is mistaken.
  13. Agreed that their may not be many unvaccinated travellers, but if 1 person has a bad outcome because of this policy change and I spent money with the cruiseline, I would feel uneasy. I saw someone quite ill with Covid. It stuck with me.
  14. I cancelled my cruise as I didn't feel comfortable for myself and I didn't like an elevation in risk for all that I didn't agree to or have any input on. They wouldn't refund the 'admin' fee on my deposit which I think was petty on their part. As far as I am concerned, there are lots of other cruiselines to spend my monies with - I can hold a grudge as a consumer.
  15. I think there are so many unknowns that guidance is difficult with different risk tolerance and circumstances. I cancelled my Jan 23 booking. I didn't have FCCs and onerous penalties so it was an easier decision for me. Found a Silversea cruise with biz air that was 4 days longer and with biz air I purchased on my own it only ended up costing $500 CAD more. For me, the edicts and changes were unsettling.
  16. No..this is more for out-of-pocket costs as a result of sickness or missed connections. For me, getting prompt insurance covered healthcare was my primary concern. You can call them to discuss coverage to see if it suits. I will cancell my upcoming cruises - It troubles me that risk has increased and I booked based on what I understood was the cruiseline policies. Doesn't work for me - I should probably take a break from cruising till I feel more settled.
  17. I see you are from Canada. Manulife sells Covid travel interruption insurance: covers medical/quarantine for both Covid and non-Covid medical coverage - doesn't cover Cancellation though. I bought it - was fairly inexpensive compared with 'regular' travel insurance that included cancellation. I looked around and couldn't find any other coverage easily that covered Covid since most insurers are saying that it is a 'known risk' and insurance is for unknown risks. Its refundable up to departure which is nice and you don't need to buy it when booking the cruise/putting down deposits etc;
  18. I recognize that we make our own choices; however, for myself, this change in policy puts me at unease. I think I will cancel my recent booking for January 2023 and book later when I feel more comfortable. Good luck and Good Health All!
  19. SEA is better: Toronto is a big mess witj cancellations and lost luggage.
