  1. Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Ann, Debbie, and Dixie. Three great days to celebrate and may we get more research on Thalassemia. I like the quote. A great day in WW2 history. I visited Da Nang in 2012 on the Zaandam. My pictures would be much like Quartzsite Cruisers from the Citatel. I’ll pass on the meal. My alternative is Fruit Salad with Yogurt and Honey, Orange and Radiccio Salad and Beechers Macaroni and Cheese which would have been my choices April 22, 2014 if I had not dined in Canaletto. Summer heat will be back today. Aliaschief’s video brings back memories of several great safaries, mostly with Rovos Rail but also a simple one while I was in Cape Town in 2014 between disembarking Crystal Serenity and boarding MS Amsterdam. Roy
  2. They just announced that the final body was recovered. Roy
  3. Thanks Leanne, Dave, and fellow addicts. Roy
  4. Kushiro was the first Japanese (and actual first after Dutch Harbor was cancelled) on Amsterdam's 2017 Grand Asia. It is on Hokkaido, a small island in Northern Japan. When I was there is was kind of a foggy day. The port is at the mouth of a small river with an interesting bridge: I did find one tall building, possibly the library, with a nice overview of the city: As usual there was a farewell greeting as we set sail: Roy
  5. Today's sunrise is from my 2017 Crystal Symphony Panama Canal cruise from San Diego to New York. On May 7 we visited San Juan del Sur. Roy

  7. Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie. May we find better treatments for Cystinosis. I’ll pass on the other 2 days. I love the Lennon quote. I visited Kushiro on the 2017 Amsterdam Grand Asia cruise, This is a great day in electronics history. I’ll pass on the meal. I have never been on a BHB between May 6 and May 13. Today’s alternative menu selection is Melon Trio and Chicken Cordon Bleu which would have been my choices on MS Amsterdam April 16, 2014 if I had not dined in the Pinnacle Grill. Should be a quiet day in Central Maryland. Roy
  8. Just one photo from my 2015 cruise visiting Bar Harbor. This is my ship, Blount Small Ship Adventures' Grande Caribe: The strange looking bridge is so that it can be lowered to the deck below to pass under some very low bridges on New York's Erie Canal. Roy
  9. I'm not expecting them this year. We really got them in 2021, Roy
  10. Nasty day in Juneau. Can't believe the noisemakers are flying in this. Roy
  11. Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie. I’ll celebrate no homework and have watched my meal since a 2002 diabetes diagnosis. I think I have enjoyed Joseph Brackett’s creation “Simple Gifts” many times. I like Plato’s quote. Like someone else (ger-77) the purchase of Manhattan was a great day in Dutch and American history but not so much for the sellers. I have been to Bar Harbor many times starting way back in 1994 on the old Regent Sun and continuing on RCI, Crystal, HAL, Cunard, Blount Small Ship Adventures and perhaps some others. I’ll pass on the meal. My alternative is an Apple and Bacon Pannenkoek as enjoyed in Amsterdam May 6, 2019,the day after disembarking MS Nieuw Statendam. Foggy this morning but at least no early rain. Roy
  12. My emails from cruise critic to my valid email address keep bouncing. I see a setting in privacy practices that says "Opt out of all emails" that is checked but each time I uncheck it and save, then go back to the setting after even seconds it is checked again. Any ideas, Roy
  13. Given that the ship sailed with apparently known propulsion problems could the Chief Engineer be on the hook as well? Roy
  14. Today's sunrise is from my 2017 Crystal Symphony cruise San Diego to New York. On May 5 we visited Huatulco: Roy:

  16. Thank you Rich, Sandi, Vaessa, Debbie, Ann,Dixie, and Granam/Father David. Childhood strokes are terrible, Cartoonists enrich our lives, and I’ll pass on Chanel no 5 and Cinco de Mayo. Welcome home Jacqui. Interesting quote by Goethe. Sadly, I have not been to Carnegie Hall. I have not been to Exmouth. I’ll pass on the meal. My alternative is a Custom Lido Omelet which was part of my last meal May 5, 2019 before disembarking Nieuw Statendam in Amsterdam. A wet Sunday here. Roy
  17. Your Sunday maps: Noordam and Nieuw Amsterdam are almost on top of each other. I had not expected 2 BHB in Vancouver on the same day. Roy
