  1. Today's sunrise is from my 2016 NCL Breakaway Bermuda cruise. On May 29 we returned to New York: Roy
  2. Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie for the Fleet Report and Daily. Three nice days to celebrate, especially UN Peacekeepers. I think there’s a lot of truth in Twain’s quote. A great accomplishment by Hillary, Norgay, and their support team.. I have been to Anchorage many times, but never by ship, always from Whittier, Seward, or Denali. I’ll pass on the meal. My alternative is Papaya with Rainbow of Fruit, and Tournedos Rossini as served on MS Prinsendam May 29, 2015. Best wishes for Graham and Pauline. It is somewhat cooler today. Paul from my church now has pneumonia, although the antibiotics seem to have cleared up his blood infection. Roy
  3. I'm probably absent the rest of the week since I don't expect to be home by 2 today and have medical appointments tomorrow and Friday. Roy
  4. Happy Birthday @cat shepard. Happy Anniversary @Horizon chaser 1957, Happy Hump Day to all. Roy
  5. And she's tucked in. Thanks Dave, Leanne, and fellow addicts. Roy
  6. Looks a bit chilly based on the pax on the bow. Roy
  7. Just me. I think it would be a lot safer to ask one of the others on the roll call to bring a set. Even if they do have one, it could be busy with someone else. Roy
  8. I have a sunset today rather than a sunrise. It's from my 2013 Blount cruise from New Orleans to St. Petersburg. May 28 was a sea day on the Grande Caribe from Carabelle to Tampa: Roy

  10. Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie for the Fleet Report and Daily. Three nice days to celebrate, especially National Amnesty Day. The quote by Byrne is spot on.. Sounds like a good day in computer history, I’ll bet he had no idea how far the idea would take us.. I visited Norfolk just once, in 2006, on a Blount Intercostal Waterway cruise to Florida. No pictures but the thing I remember was we docked across the harbor from the Crystal Symphony in Drydock and were visible on their bow camera. Norfolk was also the substitute port for Baltimore while the harbor was closed due to the Key Bridge disaster. I’ll pass on the meal. My alternative is Chilled Indian Lassi Soup, Melange of Tropical Fruit, Oven Roasted Chicken with Rice, and Strawberry Ice Cream as served on MS Prinsendam May 28, 2015, mostly from the lido as I wanted to be on deck for our sailaway from St. Petersburg.. We came through yesterday’s storms with apparently little or no damage. Best wishes for Graham and Pauline. Roy
  11. OK. Looks like time for me to start dinner. Thanks Dave, Leanne, and fellow addicts. For those in the path of storms, stay safe. Roy
  12. Looks like a line gun has gotten a line to shore. Roy
  13. The good news is that Koningsdam has pretty well blocked views of the Edge for now. Roy
  14. Surely a rendezvous with a Tracy Arm tour boat. Standard part of that itinerary. Roy
  15. Eurodam now approaching the channel and Koningsdam Grand Island with Discovery midway between. Roy
  16. Today's sunrise is from my 2016 Bermuda cruise on the NCL Breakaway. On May 27 we started the day in Bermuda: Roy

  18. Pretty much. I still put on a bandage in the morning for protection and wear it as long as I am out. Morning and night I add some bacitracin. I am just home for the day and took off the bandage and there was a small red spot. Roy
  19. I know the original question was about the Rotterdam and a partial transit. Rotterdam cannot go through the original locks, she is too wide. Topside and outside still apply but I don't think there's an easy answer for the balcony question. I think the scenery is more interesting on the South American side of the canal. While the water saving ponds are worth a glance there's no action there; that is on the other side. In any case, I like the idea of getting a view of the French Canal, and I liked the very top deck forward for that. There's an option to get off the ship in Lake Gatun, and reconnect with the ship in Colon. If that is taken I would suggest a port verandah to have the option of watching there once it gets too hot to be around the ship. If staying onboard for the full round irip, a starboard verandah would be my choice as that would give shelter during the hottest part of the afternoon. As to moving around the ship, I liked the very top forward as well as the bow and a little porch at the front of deck 6. Space is limited but it all has an unobstructed view: For aft views I liked the seaview pool and the deck above it. Unfortunately, the promenade deck is not really an option, although I enjoyed a brief glimpse of the lifeboats in their retracted position which allows the pilots to get an unobstructed view of the side of the ship. People cannot pass through the places where there are lifeboats: Whatever you choose, enjoy the canal experience. Roy
  20. Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie for the Memorial Day Fleet Report and Daily. Three nice days to celebrate although I haven’t had a popsicle in years. Wishing all traveling on Memorial Day a safe trip. Interesting quote by Lennon. The day in history sounds appropriate for Memorial Day,. I have visited Glacier Alley 3 times, 2016 on Crystal Symphony, 2017 on Zaandam, and 2019 on Prinsendam. I’ll pass on the meal. My alternative is Chilled Apricot Soup with Snow Egg, Summer Fruit Salad wit Sambuca, and Broiled London Striploin as served on MS Prinsendam May 27, 2015. We are expecting storms from early afternoon until tonight so I will try to be home early today. I am concerned with a member of my church. Paul has a number of severe disabilities and is in the hospital with a blood infection. I think things are about to turn positive but it is still a concern. Roy
  21. I'm thinking both tours are impossible. Unless there's one I don't know about, the Tracy Arm tour meets a small boat at the entrance to Tracy Arm and goes well back into the Fjord and does not return to the ship until perhaps 4-5PM. I'm pretty sure a tour actually from Juneau would see less and return even later. Roy
  22. Today's sunrise is from my 2013 Blount cruise from New Orleans to Saint Petersburg. May 26 was a sea day from Pensacola to Panama City: Roy
