  1. Not sure what you mean, I clicked on the link and a page full of liquor appeared. The options are more limited now and the price is jacked up but you may still purchase a bottle for the cabin pre-cruise if you wish to.
  2. Y'all missed the word "legitimately" in the question. 😉
  3. I believe most of the main stream lines are doing similar things with their room service as well. What I like with Carnival is isome items can be delivered anywhere on the ship, not just your cabin.
  4. When I talk about how heavy something is I have to use pounds versus kilograms. I am set in my weighs.
  5. I am and I do know the difference between Maine lobster and rock lobster, for sure. Just never knew the various names for the rock lobster.
  6. Here's what Wikipedia says: Spiny lobsters, also known as langustas, langouste, or rock lobsters, are a family (Palinuridae) of about 60 species of achelate crustaceans, in the Decapoda Reptantia. Spiny lobsters are also, especially in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, and The Bahamas, called crayfish, sea crayfish, or crawfish ("kreef" in South Africa), terms which elsewhere are reserved for freshwater crayfish.[1] Something I never knew. 🙂
  7. I bought when it was around $9 just so I could get the OBC. I've continued to buy periodically since then in order to benefit from the stock going up. Might end up making enough to pay for a cruise. We'll see.
  8. I actually got to try southern crayfish when we sailed out of New Orleans earlier this year. Quite tasty but the lobster tails we've seen on cruise ships are bigger than that, but they not Maine lobster. They are rock lobster, which aren't as sweet. I'm not sure about Celebrity but on Carnival the upcharge lobster is a Maine lobster (whole or tail depending on what is ordered). DW is allergic to shellfish so I don't get to eat lobster too often (in the summer I will have my local market steam one for me which I will take home and eat outside. Which is a pain so I usually do it only once a year.)
  9. Unit pricing has been on display here in the US for quite some time on the shelf-edge labeling. When I took my boys shopping I always discussed that with them as the way to know which product had the best price.
  10. Being from New England I'm picky about my lobster. Cooking lobster from a frozen state is an art and if you mess it up there is no salvaging the final product. With that said I will definitely be trying the free lobster (I am also averse to paying for food when so much is included). It would have to be really, really good for me to pay for a second one.
  11. If they are promoting something to a similar group of people then they are promoting fairly, even though the promotion will exclude others. Marketing to a target audience is nothing new in business and certainly not in the travel industry. What about promotions to folks who live in a certain area? Excludes those who aren't from that area. I've already discussed promotions for gamblers, which exclude non-gamblers. If they have a promotion for a target audience and you are part of that audience and didn't get the promotion then that would be unfair. I personally don't care if someone wants to share drinks, the consequence is on them if they get caught (and yes, they do hold people accountable regardless of your view, although they obviously don't catch anyone). Removing tips doesn't affect Carnival at all and only hurts the front line worker who has absolutely nothing to do with what ticked the passenger off in the first place. Let's kick the little guy. I learned a long time ago that cruising is simply another business arrangement and letting one's emotions get in the way only clouds that fact. I cruise with Carnival because the price is right and I have no qualms about booking with others if I benefit from it. Ultimately my loyalty lies with myself and my family, not to some corporation (in any industry).
  12. Alive and well at the local apiary. Buy 12 and get a free bee. (Sorry, couldn't resist. I'll show myself to the door.)
  13. Probably cabin numbers but if the reservations are linked you should be all set. As others have said compare your seating arrangements on the sail and sign cards upon boarding and if for some reason you don't have the same table go to the Maitre'd immediately.
  14. They were entitled to the promotion and you weren't. It is as simple as that. Look at it this way- heavy gamblers get cruises comped frequently. Are you going to get upset that they get a free cruise because they gamble a lot and you don't get one because you don't? These promotions are designed to entice a target audience to book, nothing more and nothing less.
  15. This was a promotion that they ran that some were eligible for and others weren't, just like other promotions. On our glory cruise our sons received it and we didn't.
  16. I spoke to our friend and she listed every allergy and sensitivity, including soy. The staff never tried to talk her out of ordering anything. There were a couple of times when they weren't sure if a dessert could be made without the offending item so they had her select a backup dessert. In most cases she ended up with two desserts.
  17. On the Glory a couple of months ago the SoS was back as I recall, although it might be wishful thinking on my part. No one would be able to cross check my answers because of my cruddy handwriting.
  18. Since most trivia occurs during the day it can be a great time filler.
  19. I know that you can't order drinks on Cheers from room service, not sure if it is something available if you want to pay for it.
  20. When we cruise with our two youngest we typically score higher then if it is just DW and I. Highest we've gotten was 19 of 20. Collective knowledge is greater than individual knowledge so I can see a group scoring higher. That said if one of the boys pulls out their phone during trivia I tell them to put it away. They always say "I'm just checking my messages" and I always say, "that's not what it looks like to everyone else".
  21. Many people are like us- they like to have some drinks in the cabin before turning in or even while getting ready for dinner. With Cheers we can and do skip the pre-dinner drinks but still like to have a couple on the balcony before turning in.
  22. Many have tried and few might have been successful but they do screen bags for this and find most.
  23. Said "running" in general but I know of no rule regarding age use of the running track. When I think "kid" it's anyone under 18 and I presume you wouldn't mind a high school track star using the track.
  24. Yep, running should be limited to the jogging track, the kids club, the basketball court and the gym (on a treadmill).
