  1. Thanks. I'll contact the travel agent. Special occasion; did the comparison, not looking to schlep bags & make own arrangements even if it costs a bit.
  2. Our cruise id booked through a travel agent. We've decided to book one princess pre-cruise hotel night / transfer. Q: Can I call Princess directly or do I need to go through the travel agent?
  3. Thanks. Without a doubt, Kristoff is by leaps & bounds the BEST cruise director on Princess or any other line in my experience on 40+ cruises on multiple lines.
  4. Anyone know where Cruise Director Kristoffer Greyling is? On vacation or left Princess?
  5. November 4, '23 Discovery going to Santa Barbara instead of Monterey.
  6. By far, the two fastest growing segments of the travel industry: Luxury small (under 700) & even smaller yacht size (under 100) cruises and Private Jet & luxury adventure tours These two types of trips are selling out within hours for two or three years out. The travel market is changing along with the wants of new generations. All the mass market cruise lines seem intent on exclusively building behemoth-size ships (4000+) but not sure this is a sustainable model for the future with so many ships to fill plying the same been-there done-that ports. As global off-the-beaten path destinations appeal more to the next generations, the mass market model that the ship itself is the 'destination' will be less attractive
  7. Our CA Coastal this fall gets into San Pedro on a Saturday morning. Any idea how long it will take to get luggage, clear customs & get to LAX via Princess shuttle? We're not flying out but trying to meet a pick-up. Can / how do we let Princess know that we want to be in an early disembarkation group?
  8. We avoid the Crown Grill. Not worth the upcharge. In the past it's been from meh to bad.
  9. IMHO. The best dessert is the volcano sundae from the kid's menu. That's my choice on the first night of every Princess cruise; it's huge & delicious. After that, I see if I still have room for dessert each night then usually go out big on the last night with another volcano! 😁 Do miss the "old" Love Boat Dream; not a raspberry fan, like my chocolate straight up.
  10. we usually book online & then transfer to our long-time TA who gives us a good discount.
  11. We always used to get the coffee package; $30 a day is ridiculous now for the new package. With the old, cheap package, my husband would get good coffee & a latte or cappuccino. I'm not a coffee drinker but would get the package for nice teas & chai tea lattes--HOWEVER, a few cruises ago, I found out that the chai lattes on Princess have NO tea at all in them only chai flavored sugar syrup mixed with milk! I asked the manager why it's called a chai Tea latte with no tea & he just shrugged but he refunded the cost of my package.
  12. And BTW, Formal Nights are really not very formal anymore. Rarely see anyone formal or even very dressed up those nights--though sometimes depends, the longer itineraries may dress up a bit more. That seems to be true on all the mass-market lines now.
  13. Our TA gives a generous % of the cruise fare as a rebate.
  14. Help. Haven’t opened the app since last cruise 6 months ago. Just tried to open it to see if the cruise I booked a few days ago is there. All I get is the “Let’s Cruise” circle spinning… just keeps spinning. should I delete the app & reinstall?
  15. Just back from Cozumel & did the "Chocolate Seaside Workshop, Tasting and Wine Pairing" excursion. Highly recommend--was one of the best experiences we've had on numerous Caribbean cruises. It's at Stingray Beach in an air conditioned pavilion with clean restrooms. You learn the 500 year fascinating history of chocolate. You get to grind the beans & make your own chocolate (not just a demonstration) to take home, followed by a tasting of nine kinds of locally made chocolate with wine. The presenter was very knowledgeable & funny. An great alternative for adults looking to do something different!
  16. Nashua, what a coincidence--we live in Haymarket too! Thanks for the info on Public Beach. We'll be in Grand Cayman next month but there will be only two ships in port (both smaller than the Edge). Did you notice if the shuttle dropped you close to the Kimpton Resort? We are thinking of taking the shuttle, having lunch at the Klimpton, then assessing whether we have time time to rent chairs or just take a walk on the beach before taking the shuttle back to the pier.
  17. Will be on the 3/3 6-night Magic out of NOLA. We have a 12:15 return flight booked after cruise. Does disembarkation go quickly? Would a DCL transfer get us to the airport on time or better to get our own transportation? Are taxis readily available at the port? Thanks for any info on sailing from NOLA!
  18. Will be on the 3/3 6-night cruise out of NOLA. We have a 12:15 return flight booked after cruise. Does disembarkation go quickly? Would a cruise line transfer get us to the airport on time or better to get our own transportation? Are taxis readily available at the port? Thanks for any info on sailing from NOLA!
  19. Been to Cozumel a number of times & looking for something different & easy this time. Looking at the ship excursion "Chocolate Seaside Workshop, Tasting and Wine Pairing". Has anyone done this excursion or something similar? Feedback?
  20. Will be there in early March... Has anyone taken a taxi from the port to the Klimpton Resort for lunch at their Cocoloba beach restaurant? Restaurant crowded at about noon-1:00 pm? Food good? Is Public Beach next door as close as it looks? Return taxis available at Public Beach or at the Klimpton?
  21. Looked this company up. Looks good. Has anyone done this excursion recently? Reviews? How much? Do they offer pick-up at the cruise dock or do you need auto take a taxi there?
  22. Were there taxis readily available to get back to the ship? Can you snore off the little sandy beach? Is there a swimming pool there?
  23. If you take a boat to Jost Van Dyke, you’ll have to swim ashore to the Soggy Dollar. That’s why it’s called the Soggy Dollar…
  24. Been a while--is there a dedicated Platinum line at the terminal for check in? Can non-Platinums who are traveling with us use that line? Thanks
  25. For a treat, go back & watch "The Cruise" on YouTube. There are several seasons. We really enjoyed it! "The Cruise is a British reality television series that debuted on ITV on 3 March 2016. It is narrated by Hugh Bonneville (from Downton Abbey). The series includes behind the scenes operations of the Regal Princess, Royal Princess, and Star Princess, all owned by Princess"
