  1. Second the recommendation for Dora. Fabulous tour. Also, CC has a Colombia Port of Call forum, where you will find more info.
  2. We have been to both A Coruna and Vigo, and visited Santiago de Compostela from A Coruna. For the OP, I strongly recommend visiting Santiago de Compostela, both because it is extremely interesting in its own right, and because Vigo, imho, wasn’t.(Sure, there are things you can do there, but they don’t compare to seeing Santiago de Compostela.) That’s a shame. Hopefully, things have changed.
  3. We saw SIX on the Breakaway last October and loved it so much we went back the next night! While we were on board, out of curiosity I checked the ticket prices on Broadway. With fees, they were close to $500/ticket for the equivalent of the great seats we had in the Breakaway’s lovely theatre. So about $2K worth of tickets, which I figure made the cruise close to free. 🤣
  4. Vigo is discussed in the Spain Ports of Call forum, here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/465-spain-ports/
  5. I agree. Never heard of that perk and certainly prefer to pick my own seats anyway. OP: SIX is fabulous!
  6. Just to reading comprehension, especially by the poster who seems to have accused the OP of not being supportive of his wife (who is not the one at issue here). And called him a "D..." I was pointing this out before any more people thought the OP was being critical of his wife. As to the rest of your comment, we are in agreement. 🙂
  7. One that is clearly shared by many people, judging from the comments above. 🙂
  8. I'm glad it was and that you thought so. But music, like food, is very subjective. I love music, but my choices may not be someone else's. I certainly don't want to be forced to listen a balcony neighbor's choice of music (even worse if she's singing), and I hope the OP's neighbor has the manners and courtesy to understand that not everyone would want to hear her playing and singing. However, I'm a bit concerned that she doesn't, since the OP himself has said this: The OP should make it clear to his neighbor just what he posted here, that not everyone wants to hear them play and sing.
  9. Hi Barb, I don't think so. @mking8288's last port was Halifax, so they didn't hit U.S. immigration until back in NY. IIRC, your cruise had Portland as its last port before NY, and the first after Canada, which is why you all had to clear U.S. immigration in Portland. That is some confusing language in the Daily! 🙃
  10. I'm not sure I've seen the language next to the Yellow before: "Gold etc. Members Required to Disembark for Immigration Inspection by 7:45am." Required? Do they mean only if guests in these Latitudes categories have chosen the Yellow tags? (Surely they don't mean everyone in those categories must disembark then... Poor choice of words?) Thanks again for taking us along...
  11. I don't think so. As @dbrown84 correctly pointed out above, the first entry in the OP's account is not correct -- the shorex promo is no longer "per port" -- it is per person (the first person on the reservation), and can be used more than once in a port, assuming the shorex don't overlap in time.
  12. Isn't the gratuity 20%? Doesn't that make it $27.60 per person per day? $193.20 for 7 days? And lots of folks take much longer cruises. If one person in a couple doesn't drink much alcohol, the gratuity is becoming more and more of a real hit. And since, as you said, most people don't buy the beverage package outright, NCL can just keep artificially inflating the price, with the consequent increase in gratuities, which is a genuine hit in the wallet.
  13. Your wife is more understanding than mine. 🤣 (Or maybe you have more space than we do in our condo. LOL!)
  14. Yup, that was the year. 🙂 I saved many, though not all, Playbills. Two years ago, however, when we downsized and moved, some of them just had to go. I've kept the most meaningful. I also used to save ticket stubs. It's remarkable to see how relatively cheap Broadway tickets were in the 60s and 70s. I agree with you -- it's fun looking at old Playbills and seeing names of actors who were unknown then and late became stars.
  15. Aging myself again here 🙂 -- I saw the OBC of 1776. I was in high school, and it was the first show I'd ever seen that really punched me in the gut emotionally. The same sort of reaction I later had to Sweeney, Les Miz, and Hamilton. (You can't really judge it by the movie, it just doesn't have the same emotional impact it has on stage. It's been a long time since I've watched the movie, but I have a recollection of it being somewhat campy.) I love the show and the music. I have tickets to this new production and am looking forward to seeing it.
  16. Supertitles, I believe, like the opera.
  17. I'll be seeing Fiddler in Yiddish later this year. I've been kicking myself for not seeing it several years ago, and I'm glad to have this second chance.
  18. Enjoy, it's fabulous! Hope your cruise isn't too impacted by the storm...
  19. I've said it before: SIX is wonderful. Original, creative, and total upbeat fun. We've seen it three times. If you don't leave the theatre feeling happy (and maybe even dancing your way out), well, I'm sorry ... (Or, as Anne Boleyn sings, "Sorry not sorry." 😁) I'm pretty familiar with Tudor history, but did not know all the details of the "later" wives the first time we saw the show. That did not have an impact on my enjoyment, but I enjoyed it "differently" the second time. (Same with "Hamilton.")
  20. The advice I’ve read here on CC is not to attempt that, better to stay a night in Amsterdam and not make yourself crazy.
  21. Thanks for sharing your cruise with us, and for the beautiful photos. Quick question: in November, we'll be on the Joy for the first time. From the deck plans, it does not appear that there are really any forward-facing exterior decks open to non-Haven guests. Any thoughts about good spots for sailaway photos? (Other than one's own balcony.) Thanks and enjoy your cruise!
  22. Actually, Cruise Critic has no Port of Call forum for Nicaragua, so this is in fact one good place to ask. (I just did a search for you here for "volcano" but it turned up no responses.) You might also want to do a search (or ask your question) in the forums for the cruise lines that do Canal full transits, including HAL, Princess, Celebrity, and NCL. (I've had two port calls in Corinto on NCL.) I'm sure there are others. Good luck and enjoy your cruise!
