  1. I was hoping to get off work at 5, but the assistant manager scheduled a call back for me an hour after 5, so I worked an extra hour and a half. Sold 2 bucks over 8k. I made the shrimp peanut salad again, as i still had ingredients, and DH does eat it, and then Donna came over for leftover cherry chocolate cobbler. She too loved it. Dh did not have a good day, he thought the pain in his right leg justified going to the emergency room, I read the dr's instructions. It did not justify going to the emergency room. I made him call the doc, and they told him to sit still, put his leg up, and STOP CROSSING HIS LEGS! I was busy at work and told him that his lunch was in the fridge, but he didnt want to eat. Cant gain weight if you dont eat. Long day for me.

  3. Good Monday Morning Dailyites! It's 79 degrees, hazy, and Atlanta and suburbs are under another orange air alert, pop up storms this afternoon starting at 2 and going on until 10. I am a dork, and proud of it. Dork- Socially inept person. Yup. Been one since birth. I wanted to let you know that I made @dobiemom's crock pot cobbler, with the cherries and dark chocolate cake mix. Had it with ice cream, and it was WONDERFUL! Dont know how it tastes when cold, may find out for breakfast. @Quartzsite Cruiser and @Seasick SailorI hope all goes well with your DH's at the doctors today. @JazzyVI hope you are feeling better today. Todays happy picture-New Orleans Botanical Garden-
  4. @Vict0riann My last sofa was a tapestry pattern,, hid every color of fur. Once it got destroyed (age, cats, claws and too much sitting in opposite corners) the newer less expensive one get covered with a comforter which gets washed every two weeks. @Crazy For Cats picture reminds me of the kittens. They have their little toy mice, and when they lived on the porch they would finish eating, and place their toy mice in the food bowls. I was not sure if they were trying to get the toys to eat, or if they knew they were food, and put them in the food bowl for a later snack. @ger_77How did the SummerFest start?
  5. Todays goal is to make the chocolate cherry crock pot cobbler. Do laundry. and oh no -Bake some pork chops in sauerkraut and red cabbage, serving with german potato salad (from a can) lets not push it, I am making the crockpot cobbler..... Todays Happy Picture-
  6. @rafinmd Please wish your nephew Keith a very a Very Happy Birthday from me and the cats.
  7. Just saw that not only Richard Simmons passed away, but Sharon Doherty lost her battle with cancer.
  8. Good Sunday Morning Daiyites! I's 7:50 am and 76 degrees. Bob Cat insisted that I open the window in the front so that he could hide from the kittens....I did, but even I feel the heat from the outside-remember we are still in the shade! And in true cat fashion, he climbed in the window, behind the curtain, and hung his tail out. Fair game for kittens! Last night we went to Vietvana, we shared veggie and crispy egg rolls, DH ordered the pork chop, and I ordered two different spring rolls. I wanted to figure out how to make a better peanut sauce, but I took out the cucumber slices and the meats, and ate them with the peanut sauce. And I had two vietnamese iced coffees, still was asleep by 11:05. I have been tired recently. One of the waiters walked by and when he saw the "skins" of the spring rolls, and all the filling on the plate, he asked if everything was OK. I said yes , I liked playing with my food, and am only eating the things in it that I can. @Cruzin TerriI read an article last week on the googly news that this new variant of Covid has been knocking the stuffing out of people who have had Covid before. But the primary symptom is a really bad sore throat. And it is quite contagious, more so than previous varieties. Get rest! And I hope you are feeling better soon. @StLouisCruisersI was sorry that Ren got injured, and angry that they think it was on purpose. I hope he is feeling better soon, and I am glad that he is going to have those weeks off. The next few days in the Atlanta area will be hotter than Hades, but starting on Wednesday the temps will go down, and our chance of rain goes up. Yup we really are in a drought, and the cold water from the tap, is no longer even cool. Also our water smells of high chemical contents, guess we are now getting to the bottom of the reservoirs. @Seasick SailorPlease wish your DH a very happy birthday-
  9. @superomaI hope you start feeling better soon. Off to work!
  10. @puppycanducruise Yes. Notice in the sky, the Space Needle. DH and our BFF went up the needle, and I who dont do heights stayed on the ground and listened to a great band from Peru, playing folkloric music. When they came down, I made them go to the museum with me. I have two types of pictures from Seattle, Space Needle and glass.😸 @dobiemomThanks for the recipes. Thinking of doing a blueberry pecan, or maybe the chocolate cherry, might add some flakes of coconut. I copied and emailed myself the recipe. Sounds yummy.
  11. Good Saturday Morning Dailyites! It will be hot and muggy today, we are under an orange air quality alert, and the temps will be in the upper 90's. Currently its 74 and sunny (we are still in the shade, but it is sunny). @dfishThose kabobs look really good. DH said he wanted Chicken from Popeye's last night so he could use the leftover peanut sauce on it. He ate all of his meal (but for some reason that was the worst chicken I have ever gotten from Popeyes-it was rubbery) and too bland. He really wanted to go to Vietvana last night, but I reminded him, that because he had surgery, he should stay home on the same night....We will go tonight. Today is a new day, and we need a new approach to living. I heard on the news that GA power will charge higher this summer, even though we have fixed rate. One woman got a bill for 12K, oh my, and I always leave the porch door cracked so that the fur babies can come and go for fresh air. The curtain is across the opening, so hope that will help. @kazu Please share this with Ivan- I want to post a picture of a place that made me happy- I hope you like it.
  12. @SusieKIslandGirlREmind me about Cape Cod tomorrow.... When I got back to the hospital, and yes they called me again to be there at 4, and called again right before 4 when i was driving. I am not hands free, I'm on a phone all day, and hate having one with me, but I was there, about to pull in, and she said he was ready, and I said so I dpnt have to pay to park again? Well, we cant let him get up for another hour, she said but he was ready. Of course he was ready. He wanted a smoke and food...any way long story short, I apologized for yelling at her, and she in turn gave me the 5 dollars to park again. I was surprised at the generosity of the nurse, and I started crying. She said she figured out that I was his caregiver, and that the time to myself that I needed was the only time I had by myself. He was moaning so loudly when I got there I could hear him down the hospital hall, and yes recently that is mostly what I hear. Yes, they did do surgery, but they could not clear the stent from build up, so now it's bypass surgery in his leg. He will be in the hospital for several days. With several months of getting over it. at least that is what the doc said when we met with him. Our follow up visit in on the 31st. He thought when we left that he was done, no one told him what the outcome was. So I asked him what the good part of the day was, and he said getting out of there, and I said do you know what the bad part is, and he said no, and I told him he was going to have the bypass surgery. He is now down to 154.
  13. I do apologize for my outburst. I am very angry with these two doctors, I did get the porch and outside the porch sprayed down, and vacuumed and am currently washing all the cat beds and blankets from the porch. I vacuumed the den, and straightened out his binkie on the sofa, and located an ornamental bucket to hang and put his mail in, so that it is not all over the counter...which the cats knock off into their food and water bowls. which gives me one hour to clean the tile kitchen floor, think wet towels and skating combination....sweep the hall, and then, back to the hospital. I'll check back in later tonight.
  14. An update- they were unable to do anything, so major surgery ahead. They called when I got on my street= hadn't even made it in the driveway yet. BUT he has to lie down flat on his back until 5. She asked if I wanted to turn around and come right back and keep him company. Um, no. I need to clean this house so he can get around in it. I told her I would be there at 4. And of course there is construction a block from the hospital and I will have to pay again another 5 bucks to park. (I know I'm sounding cold, but I am angry. The doc explained to him that if they cant get in the stent, they would have to do major surgery, why couldnt they just do the major surgery! Now we have to reschedule surgery again, and this is the third time they have gone in, and said they cant do anything unless he has major surgery.)
  15. Last night I made the Shrimp Salad with Peanut Sauce. I chose recipe #1. I screwed up and didn't buy Toasted sesame oil, just plain untoasted, but upped the flavor by adding some extra low sodium soy sauce. Sliced radishes and cucumbers very thinly, and served it with 10 shrimp each. It was delightful, a nice cold summer dinner. ( used frozen pre cooked, tailless deveined shrimp) but to take away that "I came from a bag" taste, I thawed them, and put them under the broiler with a marinade of olive oil, lime juice and salt and pepper. (I even took a picture) @dfishYou choose great recipes, this is my second attempt at making one, and I have really loved both.Thank you for all the research you do.
  16. Happy Friday Morning Dailyites! DH's surgery is scheduled for 1, and he cant eat anything this morning, so I am definitely letting him sleep. We have to be at the hospital at 11 am. If all goes well he should be able to come home around 7 tonight. I walk the dog at 9:30. Donna called her "tree guy" Wednesday morning, he still has not shown up. So the huge branch that is still attached to the tree, is still hanging onto the street. It's 73 degrees and sunny out. We are still in the shade. but there is no breeze, nothing is moving outside. My chore today is vacuum and spray the porch for fleas, and put flea meds on the adult cats. The kittens got combed last night, and I put their flea meds on. The battle of summer vs furbabies. Helpful hint, comb the kritter with a flea comb, and place the fleas in water with some Dawn in it. While it's safe enough to wash a duckling, it kills fleas. My mom used to make a great lime jello salad with mandarin orange slices and chopped celery in it. I love Pecan Pie. Oh, and I think I solved my tummy problem. I was trying to eat healthy and gave up the chocolate for a quarter cup of lightly salted mixed nuts for my snack.. It is true, that as you get older, nuts are not always the best snack food. I stopped eating them 3 days ago, and I felt better yesterday, and even better today. Going back to dark chocolate.
  17. DH is having a hard time today. Yesterday he actually got up on his own. But today, when he said he needed to run errands, and I start work at noon, I cant get him out of bed! So I guess I will go out with his card during my break today. Thing is, each time I go in and tell him to get up, he asks why. He said he aches more today than he ever has, so I am letting him sleep. Then when he does get up he will be mad at me for letting him sleep. So every hour, I go in and check on him. Tell him to get up. Not sure at this rate if he will survive surgery tomorrow. We may show up, and they wont do the surgery. HIs arms are swollen, his feet are swollen. I want to dial 911 but he says no. Or they may just hospitalize him, which right now is where I think he needs to be. I forgot to mention that Jersey's new mom told me that yesterday was National Kitten Day. Trust me, they celebrated. I had marinated some toy mice in the catnip, and gave them "fresh" toys last night, and it was 3 hours of mayhem. Jersey slept through it all, but the other 3 were zoom toys. Even Tigger was afraid! Time to do a DH check.
  18. Good Thursday Morning Dailyites! @RedneckBobI didn't want to "Like" your post, because you might think I didn't like seeing your humorous posts....I didnt want to press funny, as perhaps you are going through a rough patch, and really didnt want to post, and I didnt want to say Thanks, because again, that would mean -o good, he's not going to send any thing today-so have a nice day. And post when you want to. it's 70 and sunny, and very comfortable when I went out to feed the strays. The kittens are always very happy when I get up in the morning, as are the orange boys, so when I wandered into the bathroom to sit on the porcelain throne, all the cats came into the bathroom, one kitten jumped up on the back of the seat, and climbed up on my back. I was stuck in a very uncomfortable position, but leaning over, and over and more over....the little bugger flew off my back and onto the tub rim. I think my back is bleeding. Momma cat is in heat...and one of my neutered males is trying to accomodate. He climbs on her, bites the back of her neck, and then...wanders off. Her spaying is not until mid August. NOT SOON ENOUGH.I will have to research how long a heat takes until she feels comfortable again. Dreamer....well being the first to see the dawn, is nice. I used to take my $ 1.00 wooden flute to the top deck of the ship, and play the sun up. And then I learned how to sleep on a cruise...the flute still travels with me, but is rarely used. I told DH last night that when I die, I want to be a traveling angel. Go to all the places I have dreamed of going, know all the languages, and be able to comfort people who are suffering in the places that they attained getting to. There is nothing worse than being alone and afraid in a mass of people. Weird kind of angel.... @grapau27Thank you for introducing us to Father David, I hope he has a wonderful birthday.
  19. @AroundWithMAPTravelsDH and I have done the Heritage Windjammer twice, never saw any stars, we were sound asleep by 8 each night. However, if it's stars you want on the east coast, try Cedar Key Florida (which is where we are going this October) there are no neon signs, the streets are not lit up, the sidewalks are rolled up by 6 and in January/February there is a dark sky party where "amatuer astronomers" come from all over the country, set up telescopes and let the public do the viewing. Oh my! Absolutely fabulous! But on this trip, I'll probably be asleep at 9. Donna finally called her "tree guy" she gave up, this is going to be a man in the tree cutting the limb that broke that landed on another limb that is as good as broke. But he never showed up today, and she has been stuck at home. I would offer her some of my meatloaf, but DH said it wasnt a good batch. I told him to throw some BBQ sauce on it, and not say a word. But he's right. I dont have a loaf pan anymore, and I used a brownie tin, as it was not as deep, it got over cooked. Back to work I go until 11 pm, Boss was again super rude today to me. DH says it's because I ask good questions, and I know more than the boss does. I think its his much younger managing style...but why do 4 hours at that desk seem like 8 and 4 hours off, seem like 1?
  20. I too have DH's doctor write a note stating that I am a caregiver. But the said part is I always get out of jury duty, when they ask if you have been the victim of such and such crime....raise your hand....and I always get excused when they do that. The only thing that hasn't happened is I haven't been murdered yet. However my second husband did plant a pipe bomb in the wood burning stove when he left. Luckily a friend found it before I lit the fire. @JazzyVDH's surgery is Friday at 11 am. Third attempt at getting the blockage out of the stents in his legs. If it s a no go this time, they will reschedule, and reroute the blood flow, but that is a lengthy surgery and he will be in the hospital for several days. So we want this surgery to work! When we were at the vets this morning, a woman asked if she could see the kittens, she fell in love with Turnip. Asked for my email, she sent me an email, and I replied that once he has his rabies shot, he will be good to go. DH was telling her that all of them were up for adoption. ...Jersey's new mom will take her the first weekend of August, again, once she has had the rabies shot. So far these kittens have cost us over 1200 dollars, I asked for a discount based on the fact that they are caring now for 6 of our cats. Nope. DH said he wanted to keep Ollie, and the fact that Ollie has a hernia, that he has to be watched all the time, makes me think, we dont get rid of Ollie. And Quiff is such a mess, little vampire, I dont want to get rid of her. So only two will go. But Turnip is the sweetest of the bunch. At least when Jersey leaves we can go visit her.
  21. Holland American Dailyite Wish to cruise with all their might Big ships right now, no So on the lakes we will row.
  22. Good Wednesday Morning Dailyites! Its 73 and sunny and the weatherman said last night the humidity wont be as bad as it has been. When I went over to walk the dog last night I noticed that Donna's giant "Christmas Tree" had lost a branch. It was still attached to the tree, but was in the street. Now that she is out there working on it, it was a mid height branch that broke and fell onto the lower branch, pushing the healthy branch down into the street. When the tree started losing branches last year, I did some research on her scotch pine, and they live about 45-50 years. The tree was their Christmas tree in 1963, and they planted it in their front yard. It is huge, and it leans towards our side of the street. I mentioned to her that she might want to consider cutting it down, and she said that these trees live for 100s of years. um, no. Two years ago one of the major branches fell off the tree and took out the power for a week. (we were on vacation) Then last year another branch fell in the road, and took out the power. She notified the power company and the police department, as it was blocking the whole road. When the power company arrived in the middle of the night, she was standing out with a flashlight and they asked her why she was putting herself in a dangerous situation. She said she wanted to notify cars that may be trying to go up the street. They ordered her back in her house. Explaining that if a driver couldn't see the big tree in the street, they were going too fast, and deserved to run into it. Live wires everywhere. Today is Donna vs the tree. It isnt pretty. Furry kitten monsters to the vets this morning, to get the second round of shots. The assistant said the last time we were there, that the kittens who were hovering at a little over two pounds would weight 5 pounds by this week, nope. Their momma only weighed in at 6 pounds and she is two years old (they think) . The kitten monsters are tiny too, but so cute. They will be 3 months old on Monday.
  23. @Cruising-along In Georgia it's age 70. We get ditzy in the south earlier. Due to heat, I am sure. So I am done with jury duty. Yay!
  24. dinner was ready before the next big storm hits, and it's coming in now.
  25. Computer says Heavier Rain soon. I hope that's real time, because we just got a dilly of a drenching from 4:30 until now. And what do I hear mingled into the rain and wind? Motorcycles on the highway. I am currently cooking in the oven a BBQ meatloaf. Will have with mashed taters and a can of baby peas. I'll feed the cats at 6, and all should be ready to eat by 6:30, and then I go back to work. I have also discovered a small camera on the work computer. My boss has a real strange way of handing out bonuses. Today, instead of sale sizes he is thinking of a number between 1-20, and we have to write it in a new screen called Rocket Chat. He does this so that we learn to check Rocket chat where he can send messages and totals out to us. I chose 17 as my number. I think it's because I loved Janis Ian's song 17. Today we are all calling people and leaving messages on those folks we havent reached (they dont answer) to tell them to guarantee their seats, the renewal deadline is ...FRIDAY! The number will be posted after 6, and whoever gets the number right, gets a 10 dollar bonus. So far there are 4 people ( i was first) who say 17. Hugs to all!
