  1. I think 2 days at Falmouth is a better option than Nassau. Watching the news is usually as in depth as watching the results of a football game on the 10 o clock news. IE not other than the score.
  2. When it was initially offered and it was close to the internet price it was a no-brainer if you used the FlowRider, as we got an extra 5 hours with fewer people in line, right after that it went to 1 hour… suddenly not such a deal. If you are buying two internet packages it is still probably an ok buy. Since I retired 12/31/2023, I don’t need it for work, so we manage with 1 internet account so the Key is probably done for us. Jc
  3. Have never seen it as a stop for Royal, but I don’t look at every single sailing, but pretty sure it has not been an option. It would be a nice option.
  4. Wow that is a big dive boat! Not sure that is a good thing. When we dove on the GBR I think there were 8 of us max. 🤣 On the upside, getting in and out of the water looks awfully easy. Kind of perfect for a snorkel tour. Wish I was there.
  5. I don’t remember anyone saying that this wouldn’t happen. I remember saying that there is no significant danger at Labadee. I said, that Royal is a public company, and they have to respond to pressure from the crazy people in the media and on social media. Hardly surprising. Just kind of stupid and sad. jc
  6. Would think Spring Break will be long in the review mirror by then. I sailed Freedom in 2013, so I am not current, but it is a good ship with plenty to do for a short cruise, if you can get to the port cheaply, I say go for it. JC
  7. Has anyone heard from Tree Skier. I read on the internet that the prisoners of Haiti had taken over the government in LA, and decided to let anyone who had violated laws that they didn’t like out of prison there. I am very worried about his safety is a demonstrably dangerous place.😉
  8. That implies that it is inherently dangerous to be at Labadee and that we know this danger is going to become a reality. That is pure fiction. Sensationalism and just plain wrong. If you don’t want to go, don’t go. While we have a few freedoms left, try to not be a Debbie Downer and let people live their own lives. We all can see what is happening in Port Au Prince. What is less bad than it has been many times over the last decades. History has shown there is close to zero danger at Labadee. But hey, let’s drive a panic because it is just plain fun, and we don’t care about the people in Haiti nor the passengers wanting to have a nice vacation. So many Dudley DooRights in the world who don’t actually know who is Snidely whiplash is. jc
  9. Fascinating how this topic is 10% of all posts you have done in 14 years. Humans are so interesting.🤣 not to mention now twice done with this. nobody has said they are not in any danger they could get a bad sunburn they could get over served and get sick they could have a heart attack thinking they are going to fall out of the contraption on the long zip line. RCI is a public company they hate bad press so they do a little window dressing and eliminate people wandering off into a possible no matter how remote danger. Lawyers what can you do with them. I hate that they feel compelled by people who love to watch a panic. I miss the days before the press and social media white knights made the world too dangerous to enjoy . Very sad
  10. All which scare me and I have spent time in all 3 in the last year jc
  11. Yea don’t use reason. Panic because I want you to cancel your cruise. Because I hate Royal. Or maybe I just don’t want you to enjoy your vacation because I am in my mother’s basement. which of those are your agendas? What difference is it to you if people make their own decisions? just curious why you feel so strongly to save people who are not in danger?
  12. Bless you for what you do. I was laughing at the posters description of you, having actually met you. People are so blind about what they have allowed our cities to become. We have about reached the point, that we don’t intentionally travel to the big famous cities. Whether it be NY or Paris. Not to say, I won’t visit more of these places, just they get a low priority when it comes to plans.
  13. Chuck, you have come over to the light. I am so happy for you!😉
  14. Honestly, I would estimate the risks you are taking an about 1000% more than those going on the beach today at Labadee. Pretty sure that tonight will not have a zero murder rate in LA. I am willing to bet that the murder rate at Labadee will be zero this entire year.
  15. As my head tipped lower than my feet, and the pressure changed from my waist to my shoulders and the speed headed towards triple digits, I was seriously reconsidering my previous decisions. I felt perfectly safe when standing up in the contraption, much less so a few minutes later.🤣
  16. I am guessing that the Air Force could be on the scene within 20 minutes of this hypothetical attack. The Navy and Coast Guard have a regular significant presence in the Caribbean. I am not saying that there is zero risk of this hypothetical attack, but it is so low that I am far more worried about getting hit by a bus crossing the street. How long has Haiti been a mess? All of my life and I am 65. How many times have they attacked anything at Labadee during that time? We all make our own decisions based on our risk tolerance. Enjoy your bomb proof shelter. jc
  17. I like how many people love the OPs post. Things that make you go, hmmm….🤣
  18. Now that is a completely different question. For most of those years the share holders benefit was not combineable, so in actuality, for years most of the time zero. However since Covid and the ability to combine discounts it has actually become significant. Let’s do a quick example 7 nights in a balcony for $2500 cruise fare. For 6-13 nights it would be $100, which of course, is not discounted from the fare, but given to us to use as on board credit. Which I will use to pay for over priced drinks, photos, shore excursions or shops, etc. But in my example it is a 4% discount. I get a 3% credit from the credit card I use, I don’t report either one to the IRS. 😂 I get OBC from my very good travel agent too. So, while I like the shareholder benefit, I am not sure we are getting rich off of it either. jc
  19. Personally, I was terrified last time I was on Labadee. Honest! I took the long zip line where you fly like you are Superman, and I felt like I was going to slip out of the top of the contraption they strapped me into. I hadn’t really considered or considered the implications of that. I literally was pushing my arms and legs out to create friction to keep me in the contraption. I am 99.99% sure I was never in danger but I was only about 50% at the time!🤪 jc
  20. Nobody. Just an angry mis-directed rant🤪 hey my wife is a shareholder! They don't often pay dividends. So, none of it is rolling to the shareholders. It is rolling to senior management and the ship building and provisioning companies. I just looked back at the dividend history or Royal Caribbean on their financial page, easy to find out. She bought the stock sometime prior to their listed dividend history which goes back 9/16/2003. She bought 100 shares, I think it was slightly more, but for simplicity sake we will keep it 100 (since my obviously limited math skills are already in question!😂) I think the purchase price was around $55 a share and I think she bought it around 2000. So, 24 years ago she invested $5500. I bought Carnival at the same time for the same reason to get shareholder benefits (that was a bad investment plus I found I don’t fit on their ships). So, I added up all of the dividends she received on that 100 shares. It came to $1703 on a $5500 dollar investment after 24 years. If she had bought a CD paying 1% a year she would have earned about $1500. So, clearly we are not getting rich on those dividends being paid to shareholders. They haven’t issued a single dividend since Covid. They have paid for a bunch of new ships. I think tipping in general has become a cash cow for companies (not necessarily for the workers), I had breakfast at First Watch this morning for two, it came to $36, when you pay with credit card, it offers you three easy options 20, 22 and 25%. I am from the USA, and I grew up thinking that 15% was a standard tip, and 20% was exceptional. Almost all companies are using these terminals now and we are all tipping for things we never tipped for before. I think Royal has figured out that tips are a cash cow for them as they try to climb out from under a lot of debt, back to that not paying dividends thing again. O, I chose 20 because I am too lazy to do the custom tip, but we all should take the time because eventually they will replace 20 with 25 or 30%. JC
  21. I meant to say the cheapest….. I am a maroon.😂
  22. Times two for most cabins, times more with multiple people in the cabin. I think the stewards (god bless them) do 10 to 15 cabins daily (probably more). So 20 times 6750 is a pretty good salary by any standard. I can’t believe how few people understand math!🤣 Sorry, since you are my TA! And you are awesome. Have a great cruise.
  23. In the countries where they live that would probably put them in the top 25% of citizens. Comparing here to there, without understanding how much better here is is a sign of complete cluelessness.
