Blogging from the Sapphire Princess
Steelers36 replied to PescadoAmarillo's topic in Princess Cruises
One would think the Ass't DRO ought to know what is coming, but the published menus tell a different story (not to mention the TA webinar statements last week). All of the for-fee casual dining locales will offer a la carte and prix fixe 3-course meal option. In the case of Alfredo's/Gigi's, the main entree is $12, so there is virtually no savings unless you typically just share a pizza for lunch. Each ship has its own roll-out date and you are the guinea pigs on Wed. A lot of ships go August 12. It's going to be an interesting month as reports from the fleet his this forum. Your last paragraph is bang on and pretty much the universal sentiment from members on CC. Of course DRO Mgmt has no control over this - it is the Ivory Tower which often seems disconnected from the real world. -
The original thread was closed and I wanted to clarify something that @villauk posted about just as the thread was being closed and I know others have been confused. This was the post: I do think some pax, not in the above case, are seeing the package listing on their online accounts where it lists all the perks and see the ‘Purchased’ box, thinking they have ALL that is listed without realising their Travel Summary states something completely different. There will be many under the impression that they have all those new perks because for all intents purposes, it looks like they have - which is another way Princess are not being totally upfront about the changes. The Travel Summary should be the "bible" for what guests receive. The consensus thought is that PCL IT has not yet updated the information, so Travel Summaries read as they did on July 26. I imagine they will be updated in due course, but I have no inside info on that.

There is no allowance for MedallionNet internet for Elites and Platinums when purchasing Plus and Premier cruise fare options (it is internet access you pay for, not Wifi). Yes, you can order Plus on Day 1 and offset the cost with your OBC. PS = What is your voyage? How many nights? Plus for 10 nights is $1200 for two people. 9 nights is $1080.

They have been busy upgrading their fleet to new BC seats and configuration. Much better by all reports. We were supposed to be on one last Nov flying home from LHR but the dastardly devils changed equipment a couple or so days prior for our flight to the old crappy config. Was not a happy camper as of course the other flight that day and our flight the days before and after was the new layout.

Wait a second though. You have not said when you booked with CVP. Guests have 60 days from booking to effect a transfer. And you need to get the form and fill it out (or TA provides to you), including signing it.

Only one agent earns commission. Once you transfer to TA, they get the commission. Money talks, right? That is why I use a US agency that gives a cash discount off the cruise fare. You can still use Cruise Personalizer to search and book your own EZ-Air flights.

Blogging from the Sapphire Princess

@ceilidh1 posted PDF's of all the for-fee casual dining locations in the big thread about the new changes. Go to page 53 and scroll down and there are several posts with 1 or 2 menus per post. -
Yes, it works because you are using ships INTRANET and not accessing the Internet (WorldWideWeb). Airplane Mode ON; Wifi Mode ON.

I wrote poorly. If your cruise fare was $1000 previously for say 10-night voyage, that is $100/day. $50 of that was for Plus package. So, cruise fare was $50/day. Now your cruise costs $900, or $90/day. But $60 of that is for Plus package (new price). So, the cruise fare is now $30/day and the savings in cruise fare is $20/day. Net savings of $10 after the cost of upgrade to new Plus as part of the re-fare. I suppose it didn't mean much to post this in retrospect as you saved money and got new Plus in the deal. It would have been worth it to you to re-fare for $0 net if cruise fare went down $10/day as you would then have got the new Plus for $10, offsetting the fare reduction. I wonder how many people might have caught something like that. ETA: I wonder about the theoretical savvy guest who booked a voyage for $2,000/pp with Plus back in November 2022 and saw same voyage price in June for $2,000/pp with Plus and then phoned TA or whoever to re-fare (just to get the new Plus for free).

question about OBC - refundable or not
Steelers36 replied to thefamilycruisers's topic in Princess Cruises
The Princess OBC is Non-Refundable. Most TA OBC is Non-Refundable - if you are talking about Group OBC which is typically something between $50 and $85 per cabin. What type is it? I understand that some TA's gift OBC to clients in lieu of cruise fare discount and this OBC is Refundable I believe. -
It just goes to show that each guest has their own unique analysis and math due to varying items that are of importance. Do you want internet? What beverages do you drink and how many? How much do you use Alfredo's and other for-fee casual dining? How much SD do you do? And so forth.

Carmen Roig is the VP of Sales. I would think the top dog ought to know what is what. TPTP my not have sorted through some of the nitty-gritty on these changes. I am not sure what you refer to, but everything I can think of is the same up to now if booked as multiple physical or single logical. I mean I can think of certain benefits that won't apply to all guests and a major one applies no matter how booked. I suppose anyone on the current/previous Premier is affected because they can get more SD with separate bookings (I think). (IMO, booking separate physicals when doing B2B travel is the way to go anyway because the potential $50 loss in SOBC or MOBC is out-weighed by other things - including EZ-Air - and pricing is not much different and can be better in parts).
