  1. And you forgot to mention , with this new 'Open Dining' ( in Britannia ) you may be asked to 'come back some time later', Oh, They'll even offer you a pager 😱 Like you Camgirl, I'm certainly not a fan of open dining ( unless in the Grills or Club Dining) Can't understand the novelty of paying a Premium to sail Cunard and be expected walk around with a Pager. 🤦‍♂️
  2. Exactly, How on earth do the Bar staff manage without Lemons
  3. Can you clarify your question for us all are you referring to Fixed dinning or. Open dining ?
  4. I'm afraid your question is not too clear. Fixed seating/dining and Anytime dining ( referred to as the new open dining) are two separate dining concepts. For fixed seating ( dedicated table & wait staff) You request a Table for Two at the time of your booking. For Anytime dining ( open dining) You request 'your preference' for a Table for Two with the Maitre'D when entering the restaurant.
  5. But the ship will not sail without you once you are already in the Terminal building . If there are still some people checking -in , then the ship will depart later.
  6. Not too sure what you actually mean, however, if you prefer a Table for Two or wish to join a large table of 6/8 you indicate this at the time of your booking.
  7. They certainly do. For many guests on these four night mini cruises it is usually to Celebrate a special occasion . Everyone will make an effort after 6pm a sense of occasion.
  8. Still have to disagree with you, ( I'm referring to your post 9 - referring to the photo provided by Port Royal you stated that you "Doubt BC will be like that") I confirm that exact trolley ! with the double 'Domed shaped Perspex covering' was brought to my table in Britannia Club on 5th June & 30th October Queen Victoria 2022. I am retuning back onboard Q .Vic next month 11th December and will endeavour to provide a photo .
  9. Have to agree with you , It was exactly the same Trolley and service delivery in Britannia Club (Q.Vic) on 30th October ( and previously 5th June 2022) I'd be the first to complain if it wasn't !
  10. Sorry I have to disagree with you ! I've completed my last two cruises in BC ( June 5th & October 30th 2022) a cheese Trolley 'identical that' was brought to my table almost every other evening in BC . A cheese trolley in PG QE ( October 2021) also brought to the table.
  11. I don't want to correct you, but the boarding Pass only indicates the 'Arrival Time' for your/our Check-in, it's not necessarily the time we will embark . This is where there is a lot of confusion with 'ARRIVAL TIME and the time we eventually proceed through security and embarkation .
  12. Yes used it the other week , I opted for Coriander my favourite.
  13. Yes of course, Dancing has been back for well over a year now. The dance floor for Ballroom & Sequence was packed just last week on the Q.Victoria , the Yacht Club was even busier after hours.
  14. Although the Lido 'lunch' will be closing down , there is always something available in the way of a light snack . I understand that Room Service commences shortly after 3pm on embarkation days ( Southampton & Brooklyn)
  15. Well I'm afraid it has happen from time to time, however, as you are a seasoned Cunarder like me , I doubt very much you'd bother with cheap mini four night getaways . 😉
  16. The reason is 'Cunard use this rule to cover them self ' Thy still have to right to limit over the top excessive amounts alcohol. For example Stag or Hen groups usually on four day mini cruises. It has been known to be enforced although it's very rare according to my former colleague ( who after retirement) took a part time security job at Southampton Ocean Terminal.
  17. The afternoon tea in the 'restaurant on embarkation day' was only intended as a limited concept and part of the 'social distancing procedures' The Lido & Grill restaurants have now reopened for lunch and offer something more substantial.
  18. And the occasional 'Tea Dance' which we had the other week. ( 30th Oct itinerary) No standing in line needed , just arrive 5 mins after opening time 😉
  19. Not any longer. You are referring to mid 2021 when Cunard reintroduce itineraries ( post pandemic) on Queen Elizabeth. The Lido has now reopened for Lunch on embarkation day until 3pm Grills restaurants open for lunch for suite guests .
  20. itstommoj, Just to add to my above post; Over the past week or so , 'Fremantle Shoreside Security' have been taking it upon them selves to confiscate any Alcohol prior to being taken onboard the ship, which was completely wrong. Cunard security has had to rectify this and returned confiscated liquor back to the guest owners . Just to confirm, Cunard Line allow a sensible amount of sprits & wine to be taken onboard their ships for personal consumption in ones stateroom ( corkage is payable if wine is taken into a restaurant or public bar venue)
  21. Just all arrive together , once they understand you are all travelling together with your grandmother I'm sure the terminal agents will accommodate you,. Just to clarify, as so many people are often confused with the procedure ; The time on your 'Boarding Pass' is the 'Arrival Time' not the actual Embarkation time. You may be asked to take a seat until a counter is available before you can 'Check-In' After the checking in procedure you may be asked to take a seat to await the 'Embarkation Call' relating to your (suite/stateroom) booking category.
  22. Clarification : In this present climate (post pandemic) Embarkation will not often take place any earlier than 13.00 (my past three cruises - or can often be later ) This past week Q.Vic the 'first call' was 13.00 The reason; All staterooms/suites & public venues undergo a good sanitisation including a fogging procedure. We are just going to have to get use to it whatever category we have booked.
  23. Swjumbo, I'm confused with you comment re, security 'priority for Grills' What time did you arrive for check-in ? Grills are aways the first to be called to go through the security scanning system & embarkation, followed by Diamond, and then the other categories . If you arrived sometime later after 1pm then I'm afraid one is grouped with the other categories for embarkation.
  24. Naturelovergirl , I also have see that post ( on another cruise forum) It is NOT clear if the poster was on the 'full Cunard fare' or originally booked on a Guarantee basis ( even though they mentioned 'Cunard fare') For the cruise of the 30th October I was dining in Britannia Club and I did observe long queues on deck 2, almost as far back as the Club Restaurant, however, what I can confirm is, that I met four guests (who enjoyed dancing each evening) who had originally booked open dining , and were not happy with the open dining concept that they had originally booked, apparently they had no problem changing to a later time of Fixed Dining. I've never understood the novelty the of open/freedom dining concept unless it is in Grills or Club Dining where one can walk directly to their table and be welcomed ( by name !😉) from their dedicated waiter . Being asked to return later or given a bleeper is not not my idea of a premium cruise line .
  25. Britannia Evening Dining Times : I have just disembarked from Queen Victoria ( 11th November ) The new evening dining times in the Main Britannia Restaurant are as follows OPEN SITTING 5.45pm - last orders 9pm Lower Level Deck 2 FIXED DINING ( dedicated table and waiter) First sitting 5.45pm - last orders 6.15pm Second sitting 8.15pm -last orders 8.45pm Fixed dining on upper level Deck 3 These new dining times came into effect on the 30th October voyage 2022 The times for the evening performance have been brought forward to 8pm - 10pm After speaking with a Senior Cunard Executive ( from head office shoreside) who happened also to be onboard my cruise, I understand that the concept of Open & Fixed evening dining in 'the main Britannia' restaurant will 'eventually' be consistent across the Cunard fleet. ( the times may be adjusted once the cocktail receptions are reintroduced. ) QG/PG & Britannia Club Evening dining 6.30pm -9pm
