  1. For anybody who has sailed the Jubilee, does the Duty Free ship have Balvenie Triple Cask Scotch. I want to pick up a bottle and it used to be cheapest on board. Thanks! dctravel
  2. Thanks c-leg5! We read a lot of reviews, and think this probably works best for us, even if it is a little busy and chaotic. Since we have the kids in tow, being in the middle of it all might make it better than a more relaxed atmosphere, at least that's what I hope!
  3. Tagging to follow along since we are sailing in March!
  4. We have the same issue for a cruise in March. After we struck at with Jamie's and Maya Chan, the folks at Maya Chan recommended Pez Quadro, which is part of/across the boardwalk area from the 50 Cannons hotel. I did some research on it, and it looks good, plus will make it easy with the kids to explore some of the shops, etc... on the walkway area. Not the same for sure, but I am hoping for the best! dctravel
  5. Always be careful with 3rd party booking sites. Sometimes they can have great deals, but if you have a problem with your reservation, you will have to call them, rather than the hotel directly. My advice to family and friends is to always check on the hotel website too. Sometimes they incentivize you to book directly. dctravel
  6. Thanks for posting! I find these prices to be reasonable. I'm shocked! Sailing this summer on another cruise line to Alaska and Dogfish's 60 Minute is $10. That's when I knew the drink package was a good idea. dctravel
  7. THANK YOU!!!! This is exactly what I needed. The tour meets at 11 am Cozumel time in late March (so after the day light savings time switch). I was so confused! Now I know that ship time and Cozumel time are the same at that time of year :). Thank you!
  8. We have not sailed on the Vista class (which the Horizon is part of), but have sailed several times on the Dream class (once on Dream, twice on Magic). My kids were about that age the last time we sailed (pre-Covid) They loved that size ship, particularly the water slides, outdoor games, and all the trivia and other activities going on around the ship. While certainly not the Harmony OTS (which I was on without kids), we found it to be a good mix of stuff. dctravel
  9. Was the ship's time set the same as Galveston? We are trying to figure out an excursion on our upcoming cruise in Cozumel and the vendor is telling us that Cozumel is eastern time (v. central for Galveston). I assume that the Ship is on Galveston time for the cruise, but am trying to double check! dctravel
  10. We will be sailing Celebrity Solstice in July. I did a bit of research, wanting a cruise that did round trip from either Seattle or Vancouver (so expensive to fly to Anchorage from the East Coast was a deal breaker for us). I then contacted my travel agent asking about the cruises that interested us (Carnival, NCL, RCCL, and Celebrity) as two late 40s folks. She made a strong case for Celebrity because of a deal her agency had for cabins on the Solstice. At that point, the price and perks were just too good, so we booked! We are really excited to go and just want to see Alaska. We don't have any experience with this itinerary, so everything is new :).
  11. You will have a great time. The ABC islands are fun (although I have still not been to Bonaire). Now that you are booked, there should be excursions available for sale on your booking page. See if anything interests you and then you can decide if you want to book through the cruise line or with an independent vendor. Booking through the cruise line gives you peace of mind if the excursion is far away from the ship (which shouldn't be a big problem on these islands) or if it ends close to back on board time. If you are on a Carnival excursion that is running late, they won't leave you behind! If you go on your own, then it might be cheaper. We have done both and are likely to do both on our upcoming Jubilee cruise. I have enjoyed beach days through resort for a day dot com. We did that in Aruba. It was all inclusive, right on the beach, and was perfect for us that day (with kids and a grandparent). In Curacao, we did a submarine excursion tour through Carnival (I hated the boat part...it was hot and claustrophobic, but the kids liked it). After we got back, we walked from the pier into the old town and loved the shops and restaurants there. dctravel
  12. Thanks for these reviews. Seriously considering this for our trip in March. One question: the information from Cozumel Chef (I contacted them) notes that they are on island time (which makes a lot of sense). In March, it looks like Cozumel time and ship time are the same (sailing from Galveston). Does anyone know if that is correct? Since the tour meets at 11 am (island time) and is 3ish hours, I want to make sure we have plenty of extra time to get back to the pier (Carnival) and shop, if we want in the duty free, etc... Thanks! dctravel
  13. Yes! We were on the Triumph 2001 Christmas cruise and he got bowled over by an overexcited guest. The audience was rolling in the aisle with laughter.
  14. It shows up under "In Room Food and Beverages" I had trouble finding it too, as I was looking to buy a 12 pack of water bottles!
  15. Any recommendations that are more family friendly than others. Traveling in March and just booked the cruise. Feel like i'm a bit behind in planning as a result!
  16. Thank you for this review! We are considering Harmony for March (I know, late in the game for planning) and your review is going to help us make a decision!
  17. Thank you all! If we end up booking this cruise (still working with our travel agent on pricing details), we will be sure to ask if it is available onboard and if it can be brought to the MDR. I know it is a silly thing to ask about pre-cruise, but we want to make sure we understand comparability and manage expectations, as dessert can be the hardest part of a meal.
  18. My son has a dairy allergy and we are debating between a cruise on Harmony of the Seas and a competitor line. In the past, he has enjoyed sorbet on the competitor and I'm hoping RCCL might have it available onboard. Anyone ever seen it? Thanks! dctravel
  19. We just booked Solstice for next July in Alaska. I certainly took the review on here (and elsewhere) into account, but our travel agent got us a better deal on Solstice than on some of the other choices that fit our schedule. I am looking forward to trying something different. We plan to mix it up with main dining and a few specialty. I'm just looking forward to relaxing and seeing Alaska for the first time!
  20. Ice is readily available either from you cabin steward or from the ice machines on the Lido deck.
