  1. How about coin operated massaging and vibrating beds?
  2. I agree and the poster obviously has never been in an IV cabin on an E Class ship.
  3. Absolutely false and misleading. The open window triggers the sensors that turn on and off the cabins AC.
  4. With Celebrity apparently pulling out of west coast Mexico cruises from Los Angeles next year profitability of sailing from other places trumps out.
  5. Is that $78pp? A private transport is about that much total for both of you.
  6. My dad who was in the Navy for WWII had two things he wouldn't let my mother ever serve, SOS and Navy or Lima Beans. He said he had a lifetime of them in the two years he served in the Navy. I remember seeing SOS served in our dorm cafeteria while I was in college.
  7. Then you are going from your hotel to the cruise port? If so, I just checked with VIP Travel services and on May 15th a private transfer from City Center to the cruise port is 80 Euros for up to 3 passengers in a Mercedes car. You can book online at: Private Transfers Schiphol | Private Transfers Amsterdam (viptravelservices.com)
  8. I am somewhat skeptical since the CC article is from 2019 and pre covid, may be outdated as I cannot find on any more current news that the 5th ship is actually under construction. Even more current (last Sept) CC news about future ships under construction fails to show this 5th E Class ship under construction between now and 2025.
  9. If you are interested here is the Mt Etna, Taormina and winery tour I told you about earlier and it is available on June 5th. The snacks at the winery is more of a complete lunch with so much food and over 10 wines tasted. 10. Doubt it would be Pinnacle since HAL already has a whole class of new ships using that name and they have high end suites called Pinnacle suites.
  11. We did a 14 night Oosterdam cruise last August from Venice (Trieste) and they had terrible heat waves in both Italy and Croatia. Loved the cruise and the ports. Kotor and Dubrovnik are both located in fiord like inlets and have spectacular views sailing in and out. Only tour mistakes we made were choosing ones that included a lunch, in all cases the lunches were late in the afternoon, 2-3pm and were not great. This year we are doing a cruise from Amsterdam to Athens and all of our tours are booked with private companies that are in small groups of 14 or less and do not include meals, we get to choose when and where we have them. You will love the itinerary. If you are into wines, and when in Taormina, look for a tour of Mt Etna that includes a winery on the slopes of Mt Etna, called Gambino Winery. We did this last year on another cruise line with a private tour and it was one of the best shore excursions with a winery we have ever done. We shipped home a case of their wine and since have found Total Wine here in our city sells some of their wines.
  12. We have always used a taxi or Uber from the airport to PEV. Last time was in 2021 and a cab was $25 for the two of us. I hate waiting around for a crowded bus shuttle. Even when we got off the ship in 2021 the Taxi was less than buying two transfers on the ship.
  13. With 5 cruise lines sailing during the winter months, there may not be room for another cruise line in Galveston without another expansion of the facility.
  14. Is your cruise sailing from the Amsterdam cruise port or from Rotterdam? Many of this summer's departing cruises on both HAL and Celebrity have been moved from Amsterdam to Rotterdam about 20 miles further from the airport. Our September Celebrity Apex cruise was moved a couple of months ago. We are staying in Amsterdam for 3 nights before the cruise and have booked a private minivan transfer from our Amsterdam hotel to the Rotterdam cruise port. We have 4 in our group and the transfer is costing about $60pp. From Amsterdam city center it is about 40-60 minutes to Rotterdam depending on traffic.
  15. That is exactly why we would never book one again. See my post #44 above for why.
  16. We do too and it is a great place to retire. In the Winter you we see many Canadians snow birding in the South Padre area so they must like it here for at least the winter months.
  17. We spent a lot of time on our balcony in Alaska. Most of our cruises now are itinerary driven where there is much more to see from a balcony. My wife sleeps in late in the mornings and I am an early riser. On a cruise I will go out and sit on the balcony for a hour or two until she gets up so I do not bother her. I enjoy the sounds and sea breezes of the open balcony. The big problem was when I did this, opening the IV Window would shut off the AC and the cabin would get hot very quickly. It just doesn't work for us.
  18. I agree Galveston is hardly a dump, plenty to do and some very nice restaurants. However, if you want to go to a nice beach, Galveston is very lacking, unless you drive to the very southern part of the island. The best beaches in Texas are in South Padre Island a very long drive for most of us.
  19. I Live in Texas and driving to Galveston for us is only 4 hours, but we haven't cruised from Galveston since 2002 because all they can do are the same boring western Carribean cruises in 7 days. I read recently that Galveston is the largest and busiest cruise port in the US outside of Miami and Ft Lauderdale. The Royal AOS is going to be home based here year round joining several Carnival and Royal ships. The new Royal cruise terminal had to be built to accommodate the AOS. NCL, Disney and Princess also have cruises from here, but not year-round at this point. Cruise Lines From Galveston, TX | Visit Galveston
  20. Then I would call either Celebrity or your TA if you booked through one. It has to be a screw up somewhere.
  21. Unless in one from a move up bid from a non-suite, the AI included with Suites is for Premium drinks and Premium Wi-Fi. Also included are gratuities and an OBC, on our Apex cruise in September we have $800 OBC. If you are in a suite from a move up bid you only get the AI from the original booking, if AI was not booked with that booking you do not get it in a suite when you move up.
  22. I thought the same thing, until I sailed in one on the Edge in 2019 and would never book an IV again. I hope you enjoy your cruise and maybe you will like the IV, for me it just was not the same experience as a true open balcony. Also we cruise mostly with another couple and being able to open the balcony partition between our cabins gives us even more space.
  23. And from menus I have seen the fish is too much Tilapia, which is a low end low cost fish that is some cases comes from China.
