  1. Oh, for joy another endless thread on dress codes, sitting back with my popcorn to enjoy the show.🍿
  2. Add the onions and peppers plus a lot of bacon and pork belly, then throw out the beans and serve it on a roll with melted Gouda cheese and I would eat it. 😋
  3. If I saw slop like that in Luminae, I would be done with Celebrity forever. Bad enough the menu in Luminae has already been downgraded. On the Reflection last August Luminae had no fillet of beef or tenderloin on the first night, subbed with a 5oz sirloin, but I had the Branzino, and it was good. The beef we had the rest of the cruise was not the quality you would expect in Luminae. The traditional lobster roll on embarkation lunch was 75% chopped onions and celery with mayo, it was very hard to find any lobster. I sent it back and asked that some lobster meat be in my roll, and I got the same thing back, so I gave up and settled for the Luminae burger and fries. I wasn't the only complaint about the lobster roll and the beef on the rest of the cruise. One afternoon in Michaels Club we had a very lively discussion with other Retreat passengers about Luminae food quality.
  4. So, I Googled Gormet pork and beans, and this is what I got. Not what I want for dinner on a cruise ship!!!
  5. Does this mean the pork and beans will look like they can right out of a can?😁
  6. If I blocked everyone I disagree with, there would be just a few left with posts that I would see. 😁
  7. Did you look at what they charge for a private tour vs the 14 passenger group tour? See my post #162 about our private Lisbon tour. That tour was less than the Celebrity group tour.
  8. We just booked a private all-day tour in Lisbon for just the 4 of us in our group on the Celebrity Apex. The cost pp is half of what Celebrity Shore excursions wanted for a similar group booking in a bus. We also get to set our own itinerary and lunch stops. From what I have read here I think we made a wise choice. With a private tour we also do not have to worry about if SPD get a full bus to go on the tour.
  9. We love Sushi on 5 for lunch on sea days.
  10. Has anyone noticed the OP has not returned to this thread after the first post? Looks like we might have a onetime posting Troll!! Not the first time this has happened.
  11. In 2021 we visited a gastropub in Niagara Falls US that was known for their Mac and Cheese, and it was phenomenal and the best I ever had. On that same trip in Niagara Falls Canada at our Hilton Hotel we had a grilled cheese sandwich that was described as an "Adult" version that was as good as the Mac and Cheese. Both used 3 or 4 kinds of gourmet cheeses and added locally smoked bacon and ham.
  12. I do not recall seeing it on our Reflection cruise last August, so it must have been added since. But why would any cruise line put an entree of such poor perception on their MDR menu? I haven't had them since I was a kid and my parents were on tight budgets for food.
  13. a good gumbo with sausage and chicken or left-over seafood (no Tilapia) would be better than pork and beans.
  14. And keep the pork and beans for the passengers, LOL
  15. But apparently pork and beans are being substituted for the missing menu items. How do you make P & B gourmet?
  16. I am not paying $349 to find out something Oceania has already decided upon. Not sure when this report was put together, but it could be out of date with all the last-minute changes being made by cruise lines.
  17. Don't you mean if they get the extra revenue to do the refurb? With every cruise line in a cash crunch refurbishing is on the back burners. I am shocked that the Riviera actually got refurbed last year. Celebrity for example, has canceled it fleet's Revolutionizing program until 2025 at the earliest, if they ever restart the program.
  18. Not holding out hope for 2024, after looking at all of Marina's scheduled cruises in 2024, there is not a break in them long enough to accommodate the dry-docking length. Actually, it looks like she is scheduled for all 52 weeks of 2024.
  19. I believe that the refurbishment mentioned in the email you received was subsequently canceled after the Oct 12th date of the email. I looked at the Marina's scheduled cruises on the website and it shows that cruises are scheduled the whole month of October and November this year, which would not leave any dry-docking time to do the changes. An extensive dry dock to make these changes would require at least 2 weeks or more to finish. I would hope that this gets done prior to our Jan. 2025 Marina cruise. This are the two cruises on the O website just prior to the November 13th date in the email: ISTANBUL TO BARCELONA 12 Days Aboard Marina November 1 - November 13, 2023 FROM $1,999 PER GUEST ROME TO ISTANBUL 11 Days Aboard Marina October 21 - November 1, 2023 FROM $2,399 PER GUEST
  20. When, if ever, was Celebrity considered a "Premium" line? They may be one of the better mainstream cruise lines, but not ever an overall Premium one. If you sail only in suites with Celebrity, you do get a more premium experience, but for everybody else not in a suite it is not a premium line. We prefer and love Celebrity over any other mainstream cruise line and only book suites, but we are now going to venture outside of Celebrity by booking cruises with Oceania and Viking to get a real premium experience ship wide.
