  1. Bring your favorite mixer on board. Schweppes is sold in many countries, including: Europe: Schweppes is a leader in the tonic category in France, Italy, Iberia, Poland, Scandinavia, and the DACH region. It is also available in Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, The Netherlands, and Norway. North America: Keurig Dr. Pepper distributes Schweppes in North America. Australia: Schweppes Australia, a subsidiary of Asahi Breweries, distributes Schweppes in Australia.
  2. Use google maps and pull up the area around the ports you will stop at. Put in "wine" and wine stores will pop up. The attachment is an example in Barcelona. I do this prior to the trip as you are likely to find shops steps from the harbor. The benefit is you will be drinking wines to both your budget and palate and likely taste wines you have never experienced. There has always been someone who spoke my language better that I speak theirs helping me with the choices. For me it isn't worth paying to upgrade to the premium package for the quality of wines served and Azamara frankly would lose money serving the wines I would prefer to drink.
  3. You are totally correct Grandma. Wines can be priced in a number of ways. I buy wines that the winery might be trying to close out inventory at bargain prices, and from new wineries without the pedigree to get higher $$s, etc. I do 2 blind tasting every month with a group of collectors. Doubling the price of the wine doesn't make it twice as good. We all look for value. Finally my palate might be different than yours. You should drink what you enjoy. I still love the quote but you can change "cheap" to "bad" wine.“ Life is too short to drink cheap wine” (Quote from Cliff Hakim. ) There are some wines which are destined for the "dump bucket".
  4. Prior to upgrading for the wines check what they are serving. I am still a proponent for buying wines shoreside and paying the very reasonable corkage. Saving Azamara an expense of a bottle at dinner and giving a few dollars of income to the ship too. “Life is too short to drink cheap wine” (Quote from Cliff Hakim. )
  5. Make a request when on board!
  6. We have been choosing V1 cabins on deck 7 midship. Smooth ride, No obscured views and the self laundry is on the same floor too. Cruise cabins above and below. Veranda plus is not of interest.
  7. l was on the 7th deck landside balcony room sailing the Med last year. I used a hotspot for my computer and was able to pick up the land cell sites quite often with better speed then offered by Azamara. This was prior to them turning on Starlink. I would estimate we were about 10-15 miles off shore and if you have a clear line of site path you can pick up the shoreside cell sites.
  8. 5% for paying off 180 days in advance of the cruise is not bad. High yield savings accounts are paying much less over the same 6 month period but it is a judgment call on your part.
  9. Please note that the list of wines under the "ultimate list " is mostly not available. This list has been done by the back office and the wines are not on board. If you have favorites please look up the value of the bottle and then if decide if you wish to upgrade or prepare to be disappointed. I sail Azamara due to the itinerary and small ship size and other positives. The wines served are disappointing hence I gladly pay the corkage and buy on shore at each port. Note I started this discussion 2 years ago and 400 post ago. As of this time it has not changed.
  10. I have shown up at 1pm and have boarded before the assigned time. It gives you a better chance on specialty restraurant and chefs table reservations too.
  11. An issue has been the wines advertised were not best by made available and the selection substitutions were poor quality. They have avoided providing a list of the current available wines. Perhaps that has changed as my experience is from 2022 and 2023.
  12. They don’t seem to be well advertised. On the last cruise, they were done at the time the ship departed. Just a small line item on the ship newsletter that would be found in your cabin. No one came.
  13. Life is too short to drink bad wine. Author unknown
  14. You must have missed then the pineapple wine in Hawaii. A reason to go dry.
  15. My reason for the correction.was it wasn’t a change under Dondra’s watch and hoping for improvements in the future with her at the helm.
  16. As a correction I just looked back at pages I printed months ago and the Amazing evening was always to have been on the ship with two separate shows. I do recall in the past off ship Amazing evenings.
  17. Just received an email: "Your scheduled AzAmazing Evening for your sailing on Azamara Pursuit, September 26th, 2024, in Thessaloniki has been changed to an AzAmazing Evening Onboard. We believe this change will provide you with a truly memorable, authentic experience that immerses you deeper into the local culture." I suspect the cost of reserving the venue and transporting us is significantly higher then bringing the entertainment onboard. This is under the new watch of Dondra Ritzenthaler, the new CEO.
  18. As my spouse doesn't drink I typically take 2 evenings to finish a bottle. I am only charged once the corkage fee and tell the waiter the bottle is from the night before. They have never challenged me and I would never cheat them. I typically have taken the bottle back to my room but they will hold it for you if you prefer. I save them the task of hunting for the bottle. I have been typically been drinking locally found wines in the $35-$60 range brought on board from my shore visits. For Azamara to offer those as a package and allow for a profit along with, before and after dinner drinks as well as at other meals Azamara would lose unless the premium package price were not significantly increased. I am very happy to pay a reasonable corkage fee.
  19. I sent a question stating I loved the onboard but their shoreside reps continue to disappoint. Let’s see if she adresses the question.
  20. I’ll be on Pursuut in September. Onboard service continues to be great. The back office on land continues to be a disaster. It took me two months to get my OBC for full prepayment under their offer credited to my account. I felt very sorry for my travel agent and all the time that was wasted. They need to get their act together.
  21. They also do the same for anniversaries!
  22. Thanks Grandma. I guess I found this funnier than most members on this forum. You are the only one that laughed so both of our sense of humor is warped.
  23. On a Facebook board. Had to share it. Just too funny.
  24. Spin the wheel and perhaps we can win tomorrow?
  25. Per my travel agent Azamara acknowledges their mistake on not applying the paid in full discount but now they have added a balance due to a completely paid off cruise. My TA continues to make calls with AZA moving the file to a different department. My opinion of the AZA back office is not repeatable to the audience of this roll call.
