  1. I'll second that. We booked a "spur of the moment" cruise to Alaska last month on Splendor. This excursion was one of the first things I learned/read about after booking, and booked it pretty much right after. Well worth it. We had anything BUT perfect viewing weather. Clouds, fog, rain and the coldest temps we had the entire cruise, but this excursion may standout as the highlight of the cruise. We visited both the North and South glaciers, which we were not expecting, and caught a rather huge calving event at the South glacier, that was incredible to see and hear!! Also saw a view whales along the way as well. I'd do this again in a heartbeat!!
  2. Have no fear, the fictitious A----- posted a link, possibly this one, to John Heald's FB page. Heald of course did not share the link, but assured everyone that the free wine on 1st night in the steakhouse is NOT being discontinued........
  3. We were on the Splendor last week and received the complimentary bottle on the 2nd night of cruise, also first "elegant" night...our favorite night for going to the steakhouse.
  4. We had a GTY balcony on Magic last November assigned over 2 months out!! I was very surprised. We had done a few prior to that that were more like 2-4 weeks from cruise.
  5. We show up to DR entrance...hit the Hub App...table usually ready in 5 minutes or less.
  6. On Splendor last week. Left it out in the morning, room steward returned to us that same evening,.
  7. I just "set this up" on my phone, when I use it, it still prompts to enter an email/username, followed by another prompt asking if I want to sign in with that email....this how it should be working? Seems all it's "saving" is entering my password. Sort of pointless to still have to enter any user information for a touch or face id login. Just tried again, and it resends a verification code to my email. Has done this 3 times now!!!
  8. Thanks for that link Thats the part I find odd. None of the booking information, manager/planner, nor the itinerary attached to the booking email show anything more than depart Ketchikan at 1, arrive Victoria at 8. Obviously we'll be cruising, but strange to me no mention of that. Thanks.
  9. Question about sort of an oddity to me on our Alaska cruise next week. The latter part of our Alaska cruise next week stops as many do in Ketchikan AK. We depart Ketchikan Sunday at 1:00PM and arrive in Victoria 8:00PM Monday. Along the way I believe there is a time change. I find it odd the 30+ hours from Ketchikan to Victoria is nondescript on our cruise itinerary. Nothing about "Fun Day at Sea"...cruising along....nothing. Just the time apparently it will take between the 2 ports....obviously we'll be "cruising". Monday should look feel and smell like a sea day, until we stop in BC. Something we're wondering is would the Sea Day Brunch possibly be offered Monday morning? I'm sure we'll get a "feel" for that day once onboard, just odd to me a significant chunk of time, really a full day, is just like...there. Can they not call it a "sea day" if we stop at a port at 8pm?
  10. Seems this is another inconsistency, the time it takes for approvals and or denials. Took them 19 days to deny my last request, which sux of course, though I did resubmit it...figured wth. Or for you, basically overnight....hard to believe they are stretched as thin as they say if a request can be addressed over night. Hey...I see we're "neighbors"...maybe there's a secret you can share.
  11. Well...they got me, rather they turned down my request, finally got the email notice today after almost 3 weeks for our VIFP discounted Alaska cruise next week....I said...what the F, and sent it back in...
  12. Curious, when you say CCL told you your "fare was too cheap", why was the fare cheaper? A VIFP offer, or a Casino deal or something else? I'm curious because the one I'm waiting to hear back on that I submitted on 7/1, was a really cheap VIFP fare. But I've not yet heard yay or nay.
  13. So, um I have more than the required 100 shares, but right now, wondering why I've not heard anything about my latest request I submitted on July 1, for our cruise that leaves on July 26. I know their auto reply says not to check, the approval could come the week of the cruise, but this is the 4th request I've made in the last 9 months, and the past ones I have the approval within about a week or so. Would I be wasting my time contacting them again, or wait them out?
  14. I heard tell on another post, that the drop for Uber was, "quite a ways away" from the terminal building. Can anyone give input to that?
  15. Yep, that's what it means. They put $25 on your S&S card if you want to play slots, or $25 in chips for table games, at least that's how it went for us back in May on Horizon. Last November we sailed on the Magic, and Carnival had set up a "smoke free casino". We collected our "free play" in there, and they handed us cash!
  16. There are TV's in the cabins?!?!? Who knew!!!
  17. Interesting. When we did the rapid tests at CVS, we had the results before we got back home, which was like 5 minutes from CVS. In May we decided to not deal with any of the local places, and just went with the eMed proctored tests, which of course were very simple and also a quick turnaround. My health insurance reimburses for the tests, so in the end...quick and easy from home, and no cost. We have an Alaska cruise booked for later this month, have the eMeds ready to go....but I sure hope against hope they will end this testing. I saw something earlier today NCL has stopped precruise testing...C'mon Carnival!!
  18. Absolutely on point. We are in the Washington DC area, and wanted to use CVS again for our Horizon cruise this past May, as we used them on 2 previous cruises. Our local CVS informed us they were no longer doing the tests as they had in the past, stating the demand for testing had fallen way off. They would now only do the rapid test with a Minute Clinic visit and the fees associated with that, plus the test cost.
  19. Well, they got us on this one. Booked the 7 day Alaska cruise on the Splendor for a cabin rate of $40 pp, with $200 OBC. Probably not our "dream" Alaska cruise, but looks like we'll have a blast....plus we'd been looking to do something special to celebrate an anniversary, this should do it!!
  20. You'll probably get glowing reviews of the drastic time savings using VeriFLY......we've cruise only 3 times post shutdown, On 2, we checked in the "old way" showing boarding pass, passport with vax card in same wallet, and then test results, was no fuss no muss. Cruised last month, used VeriFLY, saved a few seconds, but nothing "drastic". VeriFLY, verifies ahead of time your covid status"...vax info and recent test results you loaded into VeriFLY pre-cruise.
  21. No snarks here, but could I ask if you wouldn't mind sharing a couple of highlights of that sailing that made it a favorite of yours? We are seriously thinking of taking advantage of one of these offers for an Alaskan cruise next month. Thanks!
  22. Wine is allowed, one bottle per person in carry on.
  23. For the 3 cruises we've done since the restart, we've had 3 different "experiences", but none were really priority, to us anyways, but all good. In Baltimore last September, we had our quickest door to on the ship check in yet. From parking the car, walking into the terminal, security check, then check in, then went straight onto ship, maybe took 15 minutes. We had the second earliest check in time, which they did check as we entered the parking lot, and I believe we had an A1 boarding zone, but that was not checked, as we just walked onto ship. Port Canaveral last November, nothing short of a cluster eff. Rental car shuttle dropped us off at port, and it was zoo city with folks debarking previous cruise and folks arriving for departing cruise. No organization on which way to go depending on check in time...plat/dia/whatever....nothing. We got in the line we figured that would a least get us in. However while in line, a terminal agent was "announcing" that plats/dias to just head in to the terminal, bust through the line, which we did. Guy at xray for luggage told us we could not bring our wine onboard, we were like *****, but then another agent said we were good. We then sat in terminal waiting for our A1 zone to get called...which it did about 30 minutes later. Last month in Miami, gave VeriFLY a go, worked ok, saved us like, 45 seconds checking in. We did have an earlier checkin time and terminal was fairly empty, so checked right in, and then, sat in terminal for boarding zone call. At that point the cluster eff ensued, but all was good, boarded ship and off we cruised. For each cruise we did stash our carry ons in our cabins...oh yea...we got the platinum colored cards, though one room steward on of of the sailing did ask we toss our luggage in the closets while he finished up. All good.
