So it will be Rumour of the Seas to Sydney and the Speculation of the Seas to Brisbane…..so where does the Supposition go ? oh thats right …Port Kembla . I kind of have a little inside info ( which I am not prepared to share at present) but thanks for all the entertainment and humour this is providing.

I guess that is why it is called a forum……but it is all in fun and a bit of entertainment.

Yes, with some “insider knowledge” some of the comments. ( and “speculation” ) I read here are certainly a source of laughter for me.l could probably say more about certain topics but choose not to…….better to say nothing and be taken for a fool than to say something and remove all doubt.😁

Like I said, it depends on the circumstance on the day….I don’t work for Princess so would not know what their intentions were/ are although I highly doubt the scenario you suggest would be applied to any cruise with a ship of that size.

Which “ expert” said there were “ issues” with ABF??? This is the problem on this forum, so much ill informed speculation by self proclaimed experts about things that they really know nothing about which gets read and believed by others and then suddenly we have problem.

I doubt that the food factor would even enter the minds of the cruise lines, just the opposite, the earlier guests board, the earlier they start spending ( which is where the profits are) . The longer a ship stays berthed the more the cost so the immigration reason could have legitimacy , perhaps the arriving cruise had a face to passport debark and they allowed for a longer debark time which would obviously delay boarding times. Also if a ship stays longer than the allotted time at the terminal there are extra charges involved so it is in the cruise lines interest to have as short a turnaround time as possible.

Staggered boarding times are designed to alleviate the long check in lines. If everyone were to adopt the “I’m smarter and sneaker than everybody else” and turn up earlier than their designated check in time then who would be the first to whinge about the long lines at check in? Yes, a lot of times the flow for check in is fast and these nominated times can be “ adjusted” but not always the case and is dependant on the circumstances on the day.

Sydney Cruise terminal customs

Typically, immigration (ABF) is done on the 2nd day at the terminal, Athol Buoy, day 1, is treated as a “port of call” . Self assisted walk offs would start around 6:30am depending on what ship/ cruise line and also where the cruise originated. ie if the cruise started in another country then face to passport would be needed and would take a longer time to clear. -
Yes, I guess it seems a touch strange about the shoes not being checked until the next day but thems the rules. Same as the rule about cruises that originate and return to Australia but overnight in a foreign port are subject to face to passport screening, no one seems to know why, but its the rule. 🤔🤔

Celebrity has no say in how this would be handled .We do what ABF say as per their rules. My guess would be, as the cruise commences in NZ that there would be a face to passport process at the OPT on the 25th and Athol Buoy on the 24th would just be a "port of call" with no restrictions.ABF seem to have changed the rules in regard to passenger clearance being done on the ship prior to arrival, I think it was determined by the number of pax on the ship and I don't recall what that number is and if it is still the case at all.Regardless of when and where, the orange passenger arrival card has to be filled out in full but no other forms are required, just a passport at the face to face process. I could be totally wrong about this but it is my 'educated guess"

What terminal, what ship. Is your cruise overnighting in NZ……. If so you will be doing face to face entry back into Aust which will take longer than normal. Self assist debark is also quicker than traditional luggage collection so you may want to consider that providing you are able. -
It sails the deep blue cheese.

Free wifi at Sydney cruise terminal?
gbenjo replied to lorri111's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
If you were to arrive at the OPT with just your passport and nothing else ie phone, paper work etc you will still be checked in after a quick search on their computer.Yes it makes it easier for the them if you have “ the app “ but not necessary, plenty of guests check in without it. Everything is already in their system.
