  1. We were very pleased with the included wines on our Regent cruise this month and on Silversea in July and March. We do collect wines and have a good sized cellar. That said, we enjoy Seabourn far more than these two brands. We will be on Encore in the Med in a few weeks and plan to visit the local wine stores and bring a few bottles on board. I wish they would address the issue but, in the meantime, we will BYOB.
  2. I was on 8/20-9/3. It was decent but I could not text or email photos or files. I did this when I was in port and could hotspot. And charging for the 2nd person to have access (unless concierge and above) is petty at this price point IMO.
  3. Even for those of us who feel like we are 40. 😊
  4. I agree and felt it could have handled better. And Regent should have had someone to assist with luggage as some were struggling to get their bags to the buses.
  5. We are also just back from 17 days in Europe, including this cruise. My husband ate everything he wanted and gained nothing. I followed the same low fat, no sugar diet I do at home. My splurges were wine, bread daily (we don't get good bread at home and I rarely bother) and their lovely cheeses. No breakfast, desserts or tea time for me and I was in the gym every day, as I am at home. They were very accommodating with my low fat diet and I never felt stuffed. I love to cook and always use fresh ingredients from our local farmers market, seafood market and butcher, supplemented by staples from Costco. I was raised in the restaurant business and never have eaten a TV dinner in my life, nor were we fed fast food. My parents were both excellent cooks and raised their kids to value quality and preparation of the food we prepare and eat. I follow a mostly Mediterranean diet. My doctor is constantly wowed by my low cholesteral numbers (I am the ONLY one in my family that does not take meds for high cholesterol) and my low blood pressure. I guess I am doing something right! I find we very rarely gain any weight in Europe. We normally do land trips and are very active. Clean food and smaller portions are the norm in most of Europe - at least in the Med where we go most often. And people walk everywhere, including after dinner. Our supersized, fast food culture does the US no favors. I'm glad a healthy lifestyle has always been a priority for me.
  6. Just off Splendour and live music was lacking in both availability and quality. It was dead after dinner except for the shows, which we do not attend. We like to dance after dinner and did not find anywhere we found the music enjoyable enough to do that.
  7. We were on this cruise and felt the same way. The crew and staff were outstanding and in no way deserved the condescending and rude treatment dealt out by some of the passengers we observed.
  8. Splendor, Cat H, Verandah, 651 Cramped suite with poor layout. We could not get around the bed at the same time. Closet design is poor. One has to sit on the bed to get into far side and we often had to get on the floor to get to our shoes. Inadequate storage. Small bathroom. Quiet and convenient location. Large verandah. Would not recommend unlesss for a solo traveler.
  9. We used the air credit for our upcoming Encore cruise, r/t Athens. It saved us quite a bit however, we are Delta flyers and this is on Air Canada in business. We normally fly Delta One. Hoping for a good experience.
  10. We board on the 20th. Understaffed is not good.
  11. I've not seen a deck party on our Nova or Muse cruises. Seabourn does an amazing poolside event though.
  12. Their shoreside service and knowledge of outsourced reps are both abysmal. And the cost cutting is affecting the onboard experience as well IMO. RCI will continue to dumb down the brand.
  13. We were on Nova in March and most guests dressed for dinner. There were exceptions, but that was mostly in the casual venues (grill).
  14. Food was tepid, not served hot. Atlantide service was poor. We sat for way too long to simply place an order. And the attitude of several of the servers there led me to meet with the F&B manager to make him aware of subpar food and service.
  15. And LT was by far better for us. There were 6 of us and we had dinner there 4 of the 11 nights. Atlantide was twice and that was 2 too many.
  16. Agreed. Tepid food, grossly underseasoned. Atlantide at dinner was just poor.
  17. Ponant was a one and done for me. Did not care for anything about the line.
  18. OMG, yes, please! All of the Explora speak is beyond pretentious!
  19. Yes, I overheard a similar conversation this morning in the fitness center. These decisions by Silversea are going to come back and bite them. As they should.
  20. This happened to my friends on Muse with me now. They will not honor the quoted price (she has documentation) and are stating that prices can change at any time. While that would be ok for those NOT confirmed at the lower rate, it is NOT ok for those that are.
  21. Agreed. In this case, we are a group of 6 friends and none of us enjoyed (or even ate) our meal in Atlantide. We had 4 different entrees between us. Indochine has been the best experience so far.
  22. My benchmarks for comparison are recent cruises (within 14 months) on Seabourn and Regent. Actually the food in BLU on our recent cruise (we took our kids and grand kids, which is the only reason we chose Celebrity) on Celebrity Equinox was much better dining experience than we are having on Muse. We are booked again on Regent in August and Seabourn (our favorite ) in October and Explora for the first time in January. We are also booked on Silver Dawn next year but are considering a change to that based on this cruise as well as feedback from trusted friends (in terms of quality of food and service) just back from the Dawn.
  23. We are day 4 of our Muse cruise. Ship is elegant, well appointed and staff overall has been gracious and accommodating. We had high expectations for cuisine based on our Nova experiences. However, there are quite a few disappointments. 1) Silver Note menu is very different and not nearly as creative or tasty as on Nova. 2) Lunch menu at Kasakei is very limited. On Nova, the options were plentiful with soups, salads, alternative entrees to sushi. On Muse, it's sushi or sashimi, period. 3) We loved Atlantide on Nova. The food on Muse on Atlantide has been mediocre. Entrees are not hot, meat dishes have been tough and underseasoned. Not sure if it is a quality of ingredients issue or the executive chef but we had very tasty veal and steaks on Nova and the same dishes on Muse have been poorly executed. Fish has been way overcooked and dry and tasteless. Yes, we did speak with the restaurant manager and he offered to replace our meals but we were tired by that time and ready to leave. 4) In La Terraza, food was also lukewarm. My eggplant was woefully undercooked and my husband's mahi was dry as a bone. My pasta with duck ragu was tasty but also cold. Bread has been excellent with great variety and delicous every day. This has been the opposite of our dining experiences on Nova, where we had very few disappointments. Tonight we will try Indochine and are hoping for a better experience. We were planning on doing the Sommelier's lunch on Muse as it was fabulous on Nova. However, based on our overall food experience on Muse so far, I cannot imagine it is worth the $200 per person.
  24. I am on Silver Muse now and I have to say that the food is mediocre at best. It's unfortunate as ship is lovely and staff terrific (except for our server last night, who started off with an attitude and did not improve). Silver Nova was much better in terms of food. Seabourn and Regent had much, much better food.
