  1. I agree with you, but don't think that will ever happen.
  2. Tried to log in on Sunday, 1/15. "We are experiencing technical issues." I think that should be Princess' new saying.
  3. I highly doubt any of us will ever find out "what exactly took place."
  4. Now, I am more confused. Did you book a guaranteed cabin (to be assigned by Princess) or did you specifically select S209? I know this this is so unsettling, but there is not much you can do until you return from your cruise. Maybe you can make an appointment with the Hotel General Manager via the Customer Service Desk. I do hope you are able to enjoy the rest of your cruise. Not worth the time, aggravation, frustration, and effort to get your cabin back while on the ship.
  5. Hmmmm.... Posted 4 minutes ago (edited) · Hidden - This content must be approved before it can be edited. Interesting.
  6. @PacnGoNow You were in the right place at the right time. It was an oddity that they would have offered you to extend AT a 50% reduced fare. I would have jumped on it. Almost as good (not quite) as my Golden days when they told me that I could apply every cent of a 3 or 4 day cruise to a Future Cruise. And yes, @ldtr is also correct. When I tried to get the same room on a b2b (added at a later date), they told me that it would be in the hands of the inventory department (never heard of them). But sure enough, at the very, very, very last minute, they were able to keep me in the same cabin. Don't know what they offered the next occupants, but I am sure it was worthy of their move. I am sure that 99% of passengers book the cabin they want. OP received a "META" upgrade to a higher category. Unfortunately, Princess has no clue that what they think is an upgrade, IS NOT an upgrade for those passengers. I've been upgraded once (Window Suite to a Penthouse Suite. You can keep your upgrades. No more upgrades. I pick, I stay.
  7. I ordered the expanded passport in hopes of getting stamps. None so far…..from Canada or US. So saddened!
  8. @cruzin4us This is your best post yet! I can truly understand your situation. I had bilateral knee replacement at the same time. 3 years ago. It has taken me this long to be able to calculate my plop on the floor and requires a very extensive plan on how I intend to get up .... way before I make the decision to go down. If only the young-ones understood that growing old and growing old gracefully takes a lot of planning. BTW...nice pedicure. I'm from Hawaii and never liked the beach/sand/ocean/heat/humidity.
  9. Beat me to it....I was just looking up the same information. Now the next questions are: 1. Was R305 printed on the luggage tags/travel summary? 2. Did TA check into this last minute change? 3. When was change reassigned?
  10. Just got off of Live Chat. Another waste of time. Third in queue Nicesties Me: I would like to add stockholder credit to another cruise. Mat: blah, blah, blah. May I have your membership number? I don't see stockholder information. Do you have multiple membership numbers? (No). Me: It's already on an upcoming cruise. I just want to add it to next one. Mat: I'm sorry, I can not remove it from current and add to next. Me: NO, NO, NO...I just want to add. Mat: You will need to re-submit another request. Yes, you can do it now. For another day. Why do I bother?
  11. Order room service the day before (boxed cereal/banana/yogurt) or get something from IC the morning before.
  12. Did you get it for September? I couldn't.
  13. No self serve laundry on Plaza Deck. Yes, announcements for the Japan cruise will be in English and Japanese. Production Shows will be in English. The Diamond Princess will leave out of Yokohama (not Tokyo). It is 2 hours from Narita and about an hour from Haneda airports. Best if you arrive a day early. The Diamond Princess is one of Princess' (now) smaller ships. She does not have an International Cafe. No more Traditional Dining but on board now have been able to get something similar worked out. The US Dollar is strong against the Yen right now. A good time to travel to Japan.
  14. Faxed mine in last Friday. On my account by Monday. Said it would take 6 weeks. Can't apply to a cruise that is more than 100 days out. Will be watching THAT cruise.
  15. This probably doesn't apply to this voyage, but isn't there something about not allowing a child less than one to cruise more than 2 sea days? Or does that only apply to transPacific and transAtlantic voyages? If OP isn't doing any beverage packages, OBC will be eaten up by Crew Appreciation
  16. From all of the above posts, it sounds as though the missing VISA person does not have insurance? Insurance would have: 1. Guaranteed other passenger single solo supplement for no charge. 2. Cancelled passenger would get a refund (minus insurance) OR get maybe Future Cruise Credits. 3. All port fees and taxes, beverage packages, additional purchases would be returned. Insurance is but a minor addition to any cruise fare. (I think 8%). I hope "the other" person gets his/her VISA in time for the cruise.
  17. Yes, Elites may order Tea Time in their cabin. You need to do this either the day before or before a certain cut off time (I don’t remember what that time was). Order LESS….you will get a plate of each: scones, sandwiches, desserts. I usually order two pots of tea and one order of food. You may also request specific items. Be sure to order your jam, crème, etc too.
  18. 1. You can share the wifi with all, but can not share the drinks. The drink package will be loaded on to the two in the same cabin (you need to buy for both passengers in the same cabin). 2. You may drop by the playroom with your infant but must stay. Not sure what the visiting hours would be. Your infant may not go into any of the public pools. 3. You may bring on one bottle of wine for each adult. Additional bottles will be charged a corkage fee. You may bring on one 12 pack of soda and/or one 12 pack of water...in cans. No bottles. They need to accompany you through security. 4. You may purchase a beverage package on board the first day with your OBC. It is NOT the same as the Plus or Premiere. It is only for drinks. I am sure fellow posters will add or clarify some of my points. Bring enough diapers (they are not sold on the ship). You can request a pack and play to be used as a crib. Is brother traveling solo (additional single supplement will apply). Is he old enough to travel in the cabin by himself?
  19. We had the sea bass at the Crown Grill in October. When did they start charging more for Sea Bass?
  20. Be sure to check out the cabins next to you. You do not want to be sandwiched between triple or quad cabins. The Plaza Deck interiors are also (sort of) quiet. Look at P318 - P331. You may get an occasional noise as the Art Gallery takes down pieces for the auction. But you will not have through traffic since the passage way does not exit. It dead ends into the International Cafe/and Vines. The Casino is on Deck 7. I don't you will hear traffic in the "lobby" for excursions/loyalty/future cruise offices. They will shut down at night. The best part is that you would not have to take any elevators for public Decks 5, 6, and 7.
  21. Surprised that you got Hawaiian Papaya, although pretty green. Hopefully they will continue to ripen on the way back. Count your blessings if Hilo has a rainbow on your way out this afternoon. Love the snow capped mountain (I think that is Mauna Loa). Kilauea is erupting again (Halemaumau Crater). Thanks for all the updates last night. You (Diamond Princess) must feel pretty special to dock at night.
  22. That's a surprise that you will be docking at night. Looking forward to your update. Yes, there are swells coming in from the north (Hawaii Island/west). Good time to visit the north shore of Oahu, but traffic will be ridiculous. https://www.staradvertiser.com/2023/01/11/breaking-news/high-surf-warning-as-the-largest-swell-of-season-peaks-today/ Weather Alert ...EXTRA-LARGE NORTHWEST SWELL... An extra-large northwest swell moving through the islands could generate moderate to locally strong surges and currents in exposed harbors. Expect large breaking waves near harbor entrances. Mariners using north and west facing harbor entrances and boat launches should exercise caution when entering or leaving, and when mooring or launching vessels.
  23. I think I followed your train of thought. Hilo is scheduled for Thursday, Jan 12, but the captain said you will arrive tonight. I checked Marine Traffic and notice that she is "cruising" at a slower than normal speed (12 knots). As far as I know (which could not be correct), Hilo and Nawiliwili are both daylight ports which means that all incoming ships must enter/exit the ports during the day. https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:-155.6/centery:19.7/zoom:8 Please let us know if you are actually porting tonight or won't arrive until Thursday morning. Thanks..
  24. Thanks @PacnGoNow. Yes, On this particular cruise, I had all kinds of questions about bringing "stuff" on the ship (from Vancouver and Astoria). Worried for not. I could have done everything I wanted (but didn't) do. No problems at all. Yes, my niece was thrilled to receive 3 bottles of really good Willamette Valley wines. Found a great little local wine shop.
  25. This is the best answer available. I picked up wine in Oregon (3 bottles). Had many, many, many concerns about bringing it onboard and then immediately taking it off in San Francisco. No one in security, Princess scanner, nor lobby police bothered me. But the short answer is...it depends.
