  1. Future Cruise Deposit purchased on board (charged to your credit card on file/not onboard account) is one of Princess' best deals. 1. Cost is (one FCD) $100 to be used as a deposit on your future cruise, regardless of "required" deposit. 2. OBC in return, is dependent on number of days the cruise is AND cabin category. 3. If not used in 2 years, you will receive a check for $100 OR you could ask for an extension of another 2 years. On the top end, I don't know of any investment of $100 that would give you back OBC of $150 (17 day cruise in a suite).
  2. Me too..thanks for the board photos. Hope Liz Pentz (loyalty officer) will still be on board. I should have said something sooner. If you see her tomorrow in the disembarkation lounge, will you ask her if she is continuing on to Japan? Then tell her MacNut lady says hi.
  3. It's been a while since I've been on the Caribbean Princess. I do like the Plaza Decks. From this deck plan: (it looks like) 1. You won't get any traffic port side since the International Cafe will block that entrance. 2. Not so sure on the starboard side since there seems to be an entryway from Vines. I would choose a cabin in the P320 - P337 group. You and your fellow cabin mates would be the only ones to use that small strip of passageway. There should be very little noise from above since the Casino is on Deck 7 for this ship. If this is her first cruise on a Princess ship, she can't get lost.
  4. Personally, I would much prefer the lounge to be more centrally located. Skywalkers is "so far" away and hard to get too....Not only that, it's a mad dash back down for an early dinner. (sarcasm).
  5. Disclaimer: just being ornery: Passengers didn't pick up the virus from the islands. "We" still wear masks and social distance. Our case numbers are small. It's got to be by mingling with other "tourist" or other passengers...Like your neighbors who passed it onto others before they were quarantined. With sincere respect, I hope you remain healthy today, tomorrow, plus 5 days. Mahalo Nui Loa for taking us along on this journey. Really enjoyed reading your thread. Malama Pono
  6. I’m sure that most will agree that this is finally one change most passengers will be happy with. It would even be better if only one person would have to have the package (doubtful). The only real risk would be that the price of the package would increase from the time most book to the time you get onboard.
  7. So glad someone diagnosed my problem. I blame it on the Evelyn Woods’ reading program my mother forced me to take. Thank you Ingrid. @Rick&JeannieYou always have such interesting threads and comments. Such a pleasant poster on CC.
  8. This is why I suggested you get a Pre-authorization from Princess BEFORE ordering your prints. No cost to you. And you will get your prints faster than waiting for the ship to reply. Princess charges $20 for each 8 x 10. They owe you the photos. Getting them is the issue. I was just giving you a suggestion. Take it or leave it.
  9. I agree with you. OP says he has the flash drive but not the printed photos. Walgreens charges less than $3.00 for an 8 x 10. I wouldn't print them without getting confirmation that Princess would reimburse me for the prints. OP is trying to get the prints from Princess. Don't think that is going to happen.
  10. Princess photographers all have the same script. I often have to tell them that - that pose doesn't work for me. Rarely are there different options. I am not a photographer, but am guessing they are trying to "soften" the look. Thanks for searching out the board. It "usually" is on deck 7 near the mid-forward stairs.
  11. Wouldn't it be easier for you to get a pre-authorization to print the 5 photos from the flash drive? I doubt if the ship still has the files. On board purchases should be dealt with while you are still on the ship. Good Luck.
  12. Princess has resurrected the "Love Boat" theme song in their new advertising. There are now 2 new televisions ads. I loved the old series. Watched the new one out of curiosity, but couldn't get connected. Glad to see them bring back the calmer ads. Crossing my fingers (lots of them) that Princess will see their error and return to the classy company they were before JP arrived and destroyed the brand.
  13. I am glad that your iced tea and splenda packet showed up on the second to the last night....I hope you made a huge deal of this and praised him for remembering (in a good way). Granted, the tea is the "job" of the junior waiter and you had mentioned that he was brand new. I am sure he would appreciate knowing that a small gesture like that was the cherry on the top of your wonderful dining experience you had on this cruise. That's the teacher in me...
  14. Has the room next to you been COVID the entire cruise? That's a bummer for you and them.
  15. I had to do a double take on this one. Wouldn't it be nice if there WERE "windows" in the casino to exhaust the smoke.
  16. Thanks to you, I looked up a future (way future) cruise. Then spent the past 45 minutes composing an email to my TA because of discrepancies I found with old invoice and new invoice. Now the fun begins to solve this mystery. I keep everything.
  17. You could play Russian roulette, but I wouldn't. No, you can't re-fare a non-existing category. There is no comparison in the inventory system. You could cancel, book the S5 suite, and HOPE that your S6 Vista Suite reappears with a new fare. Then cancel the S5 and rebook the S6. I don't think you can hold on to 2 bookings with one name. There might be a waitlist for the Vista Suite that might generate and auto fill. Too risky for me.
  18. I wish I had as much confidence as you feel right now. but whenever something goes amiss, Princess says it is having problems with the application. I would find someone on embarkation day in the MDR who can confirm your reservations. Hopefully MDR will be open for embarkation lunch.
  19. Yes, please do a search for the many current threads. I’m posting from my iPad and not near my computer. Welcome to Cruise Critic.
  20. Just read this in the local Hawaii newspaper. It might help clarifying entry (by air) into Japan for the Diamond Princess cruises starting this spring. Japan last fall stopped requiring COVID-19 tests for entrants who had at least three shots — part of the country’s careful easing of measures after virtually closing its borders to foreign tourists for about two years. https://www.staradvertiser.com/2023/01/19/breaking-news/japan-to-lower-covid-19-to-flu-status-further-easing-rules/
  21. Thanks for taking the time to review your cruise. I was a little confused by your title: NY Cruise on Discovery. I was wondering when the Discovery repositioned to New York. As for “this blows my mind that people are this ignorant or just don’t care, but of course it’s inevitable.”….I think you hit the nail on the head. People just don’t care. I’m glad you returned healthy.
  22. I have been going back and forth with Princess agents and Princess website. I find it extremely interesting that all of my "Japan" cruise information defaults to Australia requirements. I sent an email to ocean navigator. Will see what they say ... when they respond. They didn't respond to my last inquiry that sort of fixed itself.
  23. @ThrakHe is correct. Also, you can not use it to "join" an already booked cruise with someone else to earn OBC. You will be able to use it as your deposit.
  24. Yes, but they are not part of the Princess fleet nor in the United States. The Golden was one of my favorite ships. I would have gladly given up the Grand to keep the Golden. So I continue to book the Grand and/or the Caribbean whenever they are homeported in the US. rah rah...cheerleading
