  1. Full suites on a Grand/GEM Class ship: Breakfast at Sabatinis or Crown Grill Reserved MDR Complimentary mini-bar that you can exchange out Nightly canapés Express same day laundry 2 bottles of water daily Priority embarkation, tendering, disembarkation Separate line at Customer Service for Suite/Elite Access to Thermal Spa: Hot stone beds, wet/dry sauna MDR dining in your stateroom Tea service on sea days in your stateroom Complimentary Specialty Dining on first night Shoe shine If you are lucky (hopefully fleet wide): A dedicated concierge (no lounge/usually the Event's manager) Suite Meet and Greet with the officers on the first formal night. Maybe a floral bouquet (hit and miss) https://www.princess.com/en-us/ships-and-experience/ships/staterooms/suites
  2. Function is dependent on carrier. I can’t lift heavier packed full bags of grocery anymore. Prefer many smaller to one larger bag.
  3. It is what she still HAS that counts: Wheelhouse, Explorers Lounge, wrap around promenade, bigger balconies, Ocean View staterooms, covered pool and conservatory, window suites, Leaves & Tea Library, Crooners, Alfredo’s, Vista Lounge, and less passengers.
  4. I have been caught many times for not reading the fine print. That's why I depend on my TA to keep me on the straight and narrow. Also, having FCDs (purchased on previous cruises for $100) is the optimum way to go. My TA will never allow me to book a non-refundable deposit. Right after covid, it was difficult to book suites since all FCDs had expired. I've been lucky to not have had to pay large deposits for suites.
  5. @Teechur. My memory is fuzzy, but I am trying to recall my initial Delta flight (that I cancelled) to Montreal. When I inquired with Delta about free one check, I was told that as long as I purchased EZ Air AND had my credit card at the ticket counter, they would have allowed me free luggage. I never got to test that policy since that is the flight that I cancelled. Good luck with the lounge. That seems to be a given if you have a United flight/ticket and are usually admitted. That would be a nice way to pass the time.
  6. Even after your fare is ticketed AND paid for, you can still make changes up to 45 days out. That's the beauty of EZ Air. I even cancelled the booking prior to 45 days and got a refund via cc. If you make changes between 90 and 45 days, you will receive a refund.
  7. oops....Delta did charge for baggage from LAX to Montreal. I just happen to have a Delta Credit Card that gave me one free piece of luggage. But their membership is going up to $150/year. Won't travel enough to have free luggage break even. But seat selection was free.
  8. I was referring to seat selection. And, thanks to you @Steelers36, I made my flight. It's a bummer that most Canada flights to/from the US do charge for the first bag. Don't get me started on going on a vacation without any luggage! And yes, charged once for baggage to be checked through...if ticket is routed as one. Yes, Air Canada charges, Delta doesn't (flown both to Canada). And class of service does matter. So weigh seat charge and baggage charge to see if it is worth while to upgrade. Gee, it's beginning to sound like: "should I buy Plus or not"...lol
  9. Yes, Air Canada won't let you pick seats until EZ Air tickets/pays your flight. You can then purchase a seat for $25 or more...or you could wait until 24 hours checkin to get a "free" left over seat. I have done both and would recommend buying a seat early. I logged in immediately when possible. Picked my 2 seats for free. Within an hour, all that was left were middle seats. By the time the flight left, it was full. I had a really tight connection and did not want to risk missing it. So I purchased a ticket as close to the front as possible and hightailed it out as soon as the doors opened. If you have connecting flights, you have to pay for each segment.
  10. I am sorry you misunderstood my warning. I went on a walk in Quebec. The local tour guide took us down an alley during the day and recommended that we do not return in the evening. I have a very healthy respect for "fear" and am always aware of my surroundings. If I "feel" the least bit hesitant, then I take another path. Been there, done that. I have always (knock on wood) remained safe in ports. It was a general warning for anyone (male, female, or other) to be sure they are aware of their surroundings when in a strange place. Most are daytime ports. Most are to "touristy" areas. But crimes of opportunity occurs everywhere. Please do not respond. Not necessary to hear anymore of your concerns. I travel extensively and will do WHAT I NEED TO DO...to keep myself safe.
  11. I have done this cruise. I have sailed solo (not on this cruise). You will enjoy your respite. Do as much/as little as you want. Sometimes, one has to put themselves first. Join your roll call. Let them know you are traveling solo. Strike up a conversation in the Piazza, the lounges outside Explorer's Lounge, share a table (if you are comfortable). Do not let your guard down when out and about. There is still some danger for a single woman while on land. I was on the Caribbean Princess in July. It took me almost a week to get into the cruise mindset. I wondered why. Then it dawned on me that the ship had many new cruises and kids. It was just a different vibe from my fall cruise (same itinerary). Much calmer and peaceful.
  12. Have not read all 6 pages, nor does this apply to me. BUT... If we are going to use the below logic, any Home Owners' Association line of demarkation is: Anything outside the unit is Association (Princess) responsibility. Anything inside the unit is the owner's responsibility. The outer door is thus Princess and Princess' rules apply. Like it or not, Princess is going to have a few passengers who are upset. Is this a financial gain for them? TBD.
  13. My sister...the loyal HAL Mariner...will be doing her first Princess cruise with me in a FULL suite. She is approaching this cruise with eyes wide open. I only bring this up because OP is giving Princess a try. I hope OP is pleasantly surprised by what Princess has to offer. A Reserve Mini-suite will be a cut above the regular cabins, BUT....as others have mentioned, not a FULL suite. Once you've done it, hard to retreat. Looking forward to a follow up on their experience.
  14. @Thrak (aka sheldon moment): Besides the freezing in the theater, did they reduce the volume? I wonder if hoodies would work for both. For all others, I always take a wrap with me to dinner and the theater. Yes, the Grand removed Skywalkers and replaced it with One5. Not a "bad" lounge. Ample places to sit during the day. Then there is the enclosed Conservatory midship (part of the covered pool).
  15. I was on the Caribbean and requested Pellegrino from the bar. Only Good Sprits (I guess its called Lobby Bar on the CB) bar on Deck 5 had them. ONCE, I was standing there and saw 4 passengers at the counter...all with Pellegrino. But when I asked, they said they ran out and handed me a Perrier. I have requested Pellegrino when I exchange my mini-bar. This past fall, I was brought 2 four packs. (Did 2 voyages on the CB 2023 and one more coming up this year.) If you request it in the MDR, it will come from the Lobby Bar. Hopefully they will have an ample supply.
  16. Hmmm. thanks, but who picks it up?
  17. OP is looking at a voyage on the Emerald Princess. Doesn't say which itinerary. The Emerald does not have window suites nor deluxe balconies. If OP is set on a balcony cabin, options will be very limited for 3 passengers. At this point, OP would best be served by an EXPERIENCED Travel Agent. Good Luck
  18. Window suites are fared more than mini-suites, but less than Reserved Mini-suites. This is only for the Caribbean and Grand (S7). Window Suites (S5) on the Royal Class ships are much more expensive.
  19. I have been in the Reserve portion of the MDR on Grand/GEM class ships. I never felt that the waitstaff was overwhelmed at rush hour (leading to frenetic dining experience). Staff always had time to chat or exchange pleasantries. If I needed something, I was attended to promptly by either my "assigned" staff or someone nearby.
  20. I think it is asking a lot of your room steward to remove the mattress from the drop down bed and replace it every day. 1. Take down bed 2. Remove mattress 3. Reset bed Repeat in reverse order. Mattresses are not light weight and are bulky. It might be too difficult for the steward to do this daily. Maybe at the start of the cruise and at the end (and leave the mattress down the entire cruise).
  21. Keep in mind that your bid may not be accepted until closer to your cruise date. You could bid higher in hopes they pick your offer. Are you okay with booking a balcony with drop down bed or roll away if bid isn't accepted. Roll away might have to be stored in your cabin. Third person occupancy is also limited to life boat capacity. If your muster station has met its numbers...then they will limit rooms to double occupancy. Have you considered changing to a ship that has a mini available?
  22. These coupons expired (past tense) on December 31, 2023. And you were able to use them in January/February 2024 without issues? I am wondering if they will issue new 2024 coupons.
  23. I’ve had this problem for months. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, and some times intermittently. All frustrating. Chrome works better than Safari. They usually do their updates over the weekend. Could something have gone wrong? Aka Sheldon Cooper.
  24. If you are interested in being a "distributor", google Amazon ducks. They come in many different sizes and colors. I personally have not partaken in this ritual, but love the concept. No room in my luggage for extras. I know, makes room for your souvenirs. I've approached the age of look, enjoy, and leave behind.
  25. One was delivered to my room (outside of my door). Have no idea why I was randomly selected. Easy find (lol). My waiter was given several on my last cruise by another guest. He was having so much fun with them. They DO bring a smile to many.
