  1. Speaking of which, it seems NCL only does chocolate chip (both dark and white) for free...or, at least those are the only ones I've found. They have others in Cocos, The Bake Shop and Dolce Gelato...they charge for those, however.
  2. Some people like to argue for argument's sake. They don't have be logical or make sense, or even realize the only points they make a simply contrarian. They just like to argue. Miserable way to go through life in my estimations, but I know some who are the exact same. I steer clear as much as possible. I fell into the trap several weeks ago, and not matter how I showed him his errors, all he wanted to do was argue. Finally, just realized it wasn't worth my time.
  3. Just "yanking your chain". But, you do seem to like to insult those of us in the U.S. I just don't understand why. Personally, I don't care what you call a cookie. You can make yours round, square, oblong...don't really care. Biscuits, in some parts of the U.S., are serious business. Don't try to pass off a cookie as a biscuit in Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, Georgia, etc.
  4. What? Huh? 1st one is Biscuits. 2nd one is a cookie (chocolate chip, to be exact). This is fundamental stuff here.
  5. So, what is the price delta of the earlier flight to that of the one you've booked? What's the airline? What airport are you flying from-to? I know I can find hotels near most ports for about $150/nite. I just can't get my mind around missing the cruise because I don't want to pay for the flight, and/or not coming in the nite before.
  6. I don't understand how the DSC and port changes are inter related? You won't be punishing NCL, just the cruise personnel.
  7. I think this kind of breaks down to how badly the OP wants to take this cruise. Way....way....way too many ways for things to go sideways here. Delays in luggage, traffic from the airport to the pier, getting through the terminal, etc. I'm not even certain there will be any agents to check you in that late at the pier. So, either pay for the earlier flight, or just chalk it up as a cruise you can't make (be sure to check the cancel for any reason terms....many times those even won't cover being late). To me, the probability of this going well are near nil.
  8. The chocolate chip cookies I always find on board look just like the ones in the picture. They're good. And, they're free. Maybe you're paying for cookies in quantity and variety?
  9. What a big old pile of bovine feces!!!!!
  10. It says right on the front page....."terms and conditions apply". And, they provide the link for them. Here they are in case you get confused (as some always seem to be regardless of Cruiseline promo)... https://www.ncl.com/about/terms-and-conditions/promotions
  11. It IS a good thing. It's just that some ports aren't big enough to allow the bigger ships to dock. I would welcome all ports not needing tenders.
  12. Hey....wasn't on that cruise. I was on the Epic, an older ship than the "Aways" and they had cookies. Sometimes I think crew find it convenient to blame "it's a corporate decision" as an excuse for some sort of particular ship shortcoming. To me, regardless of the age of the ship, they are all so regimented when it comes to food, it's because they want to be consistent from ship to ship. Now, if the crew said they ran out of chocolate chips? Or, maybe had a mixer breakdown to make the cookies? I'd buy that. But, to say it was a "corporate decision" not to have cookies is tough for me to believe. The flip side, I've read some guest recounts of different things on the same cruise I sailed that I know for a fact just aren't true. Don't know why. But, they do.
  13. Well....who knew this would be a topic that anyone cared about? But, here we are. There are cookies on board. I think it depends on the ship, but I saw (and ate) chocolate chip cookies on the Prima last week. I also saw and ate chocolate chip cookies on the Epic 4 months ago. Yes, they were fresh. Yes, they were good. Not buying the OP's friend's story.
  14. Yeah....but their fares are much higher to make up for it. It's the total out of pocket that matters. Ask yourself if individually you'll drink $22 in liquor, beer, wine and sodas per day. That's the cost. If not, don't include it in your FAS. BTW...that figures out to be 2-3 drinks per day per person.
  15. Oooooohhhhh....a tipping thread (again). These are always fun!
  16. Last year, those New England/Canada cruises had coupons on them for end of season (Sept-Oct) cruises. I got a helluva fare on one of those. Wonder if those will come around, again?
  17. So many variables...... Will the ship clear customs quickly? Have weather delays? Customs lines? I've seen it as early as 7:30 and as late as 11:30. Personally, I'd shoot for a flight early afternoon.
  18. But, if NCL wants to send me the 10%-50% off coupon for cruises like they did last year (which I used for New England and Mediterranean), I'll book right now.
  19. Yeah...I like the Bliss and Alaska. But, that coupon really nets little for that cruise because of the high posted fares.
  20. Exactly, Check in time has not relevance to boarding time. Your status has more to do with boarding time (Haven, Latitudes status, etc). If you want to sit and wait for a while. get to the port early. Just understand, just because you got to the port early will likely not matter when you board.
  21. If interested, my 2BR Haven Suite in the Epic a few months ago. Long and has some content about planning and of touring European highlights. But , it also has pics of the ship, the Haven and my cabin!
  22. It was the first (real) Have in the fleet..the blueprint, the Haven that originated the “ship within a ship” concept…and NCL was selling the concept based on the Epic’s Haven on other ships. Plus, it has been recently refurbished! Plus, I enjoyed the ${!|? out of it!
  23. In the Bridge tour, I did not see a helipad. And, the crew has a 270º view of the bow of the ship. So, not sure where or how they'd do an air rescue.
  24. Sailed the Haven last October on the Epic. It is arguably the best Haven in the fleet. And, I'd sailed the Haven on the Breakaway, the Getaway, and the Prima, too.
  25. 4:00 a.m.? They serve potato chips they swept from the floor and gruel.
