  1. This was booked about 5-6 months ago. It was sold out at the 4 month mark. Prices went up steadily. Just one example. If you find it, book it. Don't wait. ×
  2. The birds are chirping, flights are on time, having my 2nd cup of coffee (with Baileys), get these in the trunk and head off to the airport. Let's get this party started!!!!!
  3. Hey...if you can get that rate, book it. Don't hesitate. Just going by personal experience in incessantly shopping cruise fares for the last decade plus. I used to wait, and wait, and wait, and wait for the proverbial Haven prices to drop, and they never did. If you find a good Haven fare, jump on it. That's my advice. Cheapest Haven fare I ever found was $3,800/cabin for a Haven Spa Suite on an older (Breakaway) ship. But, that was right after the restart. I seem to remember @david_sobe getting even lower than that. If I find a Haven fare for less than/equal to $4,500/suite, I don't hesitate. I grab the old CC and get to booking. I don't believe I've ever paid more than $4,800 for a Haven Suite...all in....EVER! Again, if you see it at those fares, jump on it.
  4. Haven on Epic last October. Sold out. No one I talked to “won a bid”. Prima Haven leaving tomorrow. Sold out a while ago. Both ships sailing overcapacity. People want a “deal”. I get it. But, if you’re waiting for the claimed inevitable price drop because of a perceived lack of demand, good luck. I’ve sailed Haven 5x (soon to be 6x). The time to book those cabins is early, months before final payment. They sell out first out of all cabin types. If you see a Haven fare you like, book it. Waiting for a price drop on Haven cabins, that very rarely happen, will frustrate the dickens out of you. Bidding on one. at least in the last couple of years, unless you bid full price, will leave you disappointed.
  5. I usually figure $75/pp per dinner. The a la carte prices on the specialty dinner menus are way out of line.
  6. Awwwww.....house keeper is taking my girl home with her to watch while I'm gone. My little doggo was not happy, either.
  7. Walkie-Talkies don't work on cruise ships unless you're already within shouting distance of each other. Just way too much metal that interferes with the signal. https://www.ncl.com/no/en/prohibited-items
  8. I love when a plan comes together!!!! “Dan, this is Lori from (Galveston Saltwater Moms). I will see you tomorrow afternoon after you land at 4:37 PM.”
  9. Little early for Haven to sell out. Usually I’ve seen that happen about 30-45 days out. Obviously lots of variables…ship, amount of cabins, itinerary, etc. I believe you can get a “courtesy” price adjustment once. Curious…why did your TA say they could not “participate” in the bid upgrade process?
  10. Checked in for my flight and my hotel. Finish packing and off to the airport tomorrow a.m. It's right around the corner, now.
  11. Amen to that. Matter of fact, I don't even big any more. I just go to the web site and see what's available. If there's something I like, and the fare is good, I just book it. Upgrade bids, particularly these days, really have no benefit.
  12. I had just read that about the Celebrity Retreat cabins. Granted, it's been a couple of years since I sailed them, but the Butler/Concierge kept my fridge well stocked with beer and sodas....gratis. Too bad they discontinued that (and raised Retreat fares to boot).
  13. I don’t sell a lot…maybe 2-3 items a year. Over time, I think it shows 200 or so sales. But, negative feedback is killer when you sell so few things. It affects bidding. And, possibly not even receive bids. I have had people “non pay”. I’ve had people slice things and request a refund (nice leather Tumi bag) when they changed their mind. It’s to the point I’d rather donate goods rather than put them on eBay for a couple bucks! 10-15 years ago, seems people were more honest. Now, eBay is filled with scammers!
  14. Like I said, I really don't care. I don't even know what a "binary world" is. You asked what the policy is. We answered. It's not allowed by the cruise line, the countries they visit nor the ports they dock in. The degree of "wrongness" I suppose is determined by the cruise line and the country/port you're visiting. Is it a simple "we're kicking you off the ship"? Or is it "we're kicking you off the ship and trying you over to the local authorities"? Can you get away with it? Maybe. Will you get caught? Possibly. If you do get caught, nothing good will happen....and, potentially, something very bad will happen. But, just to emphasize the answer to the question you posed, it's not allowed on any cruise line I'm aware of. And, it's illegal according to the Federal Gov't! Worth it to "relax"?
  15. This always makes me SMDH. If the cruise lines, if the ports of call, etc state it's not allowed, moreover, illegal, why do insist on doing it? Kicked off the ship would be the least of what would happen. Personally, I don't care if you're Willie Nelson. Do whatever you want. No matter to me. But, if faced with the idea of the cruise lines prohibiting it, the ports and cities you'll visit prohibiting it, why even do it?
  16. At the very least, you'll have to go through initiation, again! 😉
  17. GOT....I a friend who was such a big fan of GOT that she and her husband took a vacation solely to tour all the sites where it was filmed. They said they were all beautiful. Me? Over the years, I'll get in a mood (usually gloomy winters, like now) that I binge it again. I liked it. Had no problems with the ending other than they could have cut it in ½ and it would have been better all the way around.
  18. Can you contact Casino at Seas? They own the booking. If not, I would call the general NCL number and quit trying the PCC. If you can't reach them, and something goes sideways, you'll be stuck with forfeiting your deposit, regardless of the reason you couldn't reach someone.
  19. You got me searching…found this… “Songs with all three parts - tune, text, and arrangement - dated prior to 1929 (1928 or earlier) are in the public domain. Any part of any song (text, tune, arrangement) dated 1929 or after is under copyright.”
  20. Interesting. My church (Catholic) hymns are many times hundreds of years old. My guess is the authors of those hymns are long gone. So, not likely to command any fees! Just another data point!
  21. Buyer's gone AWOL. His payment is in my account, but is being held. If s/he doesn't respond, it will just end up being paid out. If s/he files a claim, I'll just ask for it to be returned. Not worth the effort with these sorts!
  22. Just now pulling out the luggage. Doing my check list. Keeping a daily eye on the weather and my flight(s)..... 23. Interesting people mentioning Virgin. I keep looking at them, but it's hard to get a feel for what's really different for difference's sake, and what's really good. I will read a review stating polar opposite opinions with the same demographic. MSC? Ambivalent. I sailed their YC. They were fine. Not great, not bad. But, fine! Had another one scheduled. This was right after the restart. They charged me a fare. Came back a week later stating they made a mistake and wanted to charge me more. I get it. Kind of "hey...we don't have our act together yet after COVID". But, if it had been an error on my end, it would have been "too bad, so sad". When they make the error, their attitude was even worse. I had to get AMEX to fight for me, which they did. I ended up getting a full refund. But, I'm still a little butt hurt about it. So, unless something comes along that bowls me over, I'm probably not sailing them any time in the foreseeable future. Princess? Seems like another line that I'm having a hard time differentiating from the others. Disney....whew boy. I really don't want to pay a premium to cavort with cartoon characters. I know some like that. I'm not one of them. Plus, they have way more kids on them, for obvious reasons. And, their fares are way over the top. I can't even say I'd sail them if their fares were competitive. Easy to see I'm not their demographic. But, if you like Mickey, Pluto, Little Mermaid, etc...hey, that means something...maybe worth it. I've looked at Oceania a couple of times. People have told me to compare their fares with NCL's Haven. I've always been able to find deals on Haven cabins. Oceania has always been 3x+ those fares. And, I can't figure out what the higher fares net me...at least make it worthwhile for me to consider them.
