  1. It is not odd at all. There were high winds. If the port authority. Cancels the tenders, then we skip the port. Pretty easy to err on the side of safety. Having done over 50 cruises on Princess, I have never heard of a captain lying to skip a port, Passenger safety is of prime importance.
  2. It was a long, long line to get on the ship on Dec 27. We arrived at the port at 10:40 and the line was EXTREMELY long. It took over 1 1/2 hours to get on. It seems the problem is a lack of security check lanes being open…we reached that area and there were only 3 lines open. They then opened two more lines and I expect that helped speed it up. If all the available lines would be open, it would be much better.
  3. My husband and I are on this trip. We recently disembarked the Regal on Dec 10th ---love this ship. I will be bringing 6 paperbacks and checking the ship library as we travel along. The Regal has a really good exchange library so I will leave my books as they are finished ... We are only 2 hours from the port so will leave on Wednesday morning sometime...after the commuter traffic is over. We will surely see you in the casino as that is where we spend a lot of time. Safe travels to all and a very Merry Christmas!
  4. You will have no problem seeing the sea witch on the Princess ship.... It will most likely be the first ship you see.
  5. You will see the ship - it is hard to miss on Harborside Drive.
  6. The Regal library is aft deck 7 next to the Vista Lounge - It has a large number of games, puzzles and good books...
  7. Yes anything is better than cruising from the port of Houston....there are many cruise lines in Galveston - Royal, Carnival, NCL, Disney - now Princess and MSC coming soon. Not the greatest ports but still a great cruise!
  8. The Regal has a great library as does the Ruby.. The newer ships like the Enchanted and the Sky do not even assign space for a library....
  9. My two requests were processed quickly - one the same day and the other within 2 days.
  10. Facial recognition has to do with disembarkation only.....I also heard that rumor about the fake passport...Boarding is not too bad.
  11. I will add another note. We disembarked from the Regal on Nov 5th on its relocation trip from FLL and they had the facial recognition at that time. I have no idea what happened to make the change.
  12. We did the express walk off - we were off at 7:15 am - no problems at all. I asked the customs agent about facial recognition and he told me it was not available for this cruise line in this port, but we walkd out and were on the road in 10 minutes.
  13. I just emailed hello@stockperks - attached my statement as I did previously with the account # blacked out - I had my OBC the same day. Very efficient and nothing scary about it.
  14. We are just off the Regal on Dec 10th and returning again on the 27th....The Regal is in great shape. The food was excellent, service also excellent. The beds and pillows are fantastic....Honestly, I can offer no complaints and we cruise a lot.
  15. That does not make sense as we disembarked on Nov 5th from the Regal and the facial recognition was working just fine...took us minutes to get off. We will be embarking again on Dec 3rd so will find out more.
  16. We got off the Regal on Nov 5th - Facial recognition was running at that time. We were off the ship in 15 minutes.. I suppose it changes from week to week
  17. you can also do the route deviation request on the chat line. I have done it before.
  18. Someone posted on the roll call that the ship would be two hours late arriving tomorrow in PE....arriving at 8:30am???? With this location that does not look probable...
  19. WE rarely do ship excursions . There are many private tours that have an excellent reputation and long standing history of good service with a guarantee to get you to the ship...There should be groups forming on your roll call on cruise critic and I would advise joining one or forming one. There is so much to see and experience on these trips and much better done in a smaller group than 50 people boarding a big bus. Just my opinion.
  20. I just called the regular Princess number.... My husband had another stent put in and is doing well....Thanks!
  21. We have had 50 cruises on Princess and the mattresses have always been wonderful - the one exception was when we were on the Crown. The mattress was awful - it sagged terribly. They replaced with another awful mattress. Finally they brought one from an inside cabin that had not been used very much and it was acceptable, but still not good. We will never sail again on the Crown as I have heard this same issue from many others. Other than that one time, the pillows and mattresses on Princess have been the best!
  22. We recently had to cancel due to my husband's hospitalization. I called 2 days before departure and the cancellation invoice was sent immediately which I needed for my travel insurance company.
